i have always liked bioware and loved all their games and think they are one of the best developers but over the past years i have been a little bit dissapointed with them. FIRST, The old republic(I dont need to say any more on that matter). Second, Dragonage . First was good and was definitley inferior to mass effect but had its own style that made the game unique and now DA2 is released and is looking like Dragonfecct. We dont know much yet and im sure it will be good but i am a bit dissapointed. The final straw is the ME 2 move to PS3. I read it on IGN and I was 97% positive it was a joke but........ it wasnt. Im still confused on this move because ME1 wont be going to PS3 anytime soon(thank god) so what the heck is the point of playing ME2. Are they going to have to play the default shepard cuz nothing would be able to transfer to me1. This is obviously a way to get more more money. Lets be honest Despite what Bioware says Me2 ps3 will cut into ME3 development unless they already made this game a while ago because if they cant figure out how to let u toggle a dam helmet they need the entire team to figure out how to give the pS3 the true mass effect experience. This proved to me that bioware is just getting greedy. Ruining a great franchise with a mmo most of the fans wont play cuz itz only on PC or dont want to pay to play is ridiuclous. Game looks good but i wont pay money to play it. Now after mainstreaming ME2(which was great) they are mainstreaming DA2 which could make the game better but at the cost of its idendity. I recognize them as the premeire rpg makers but after ME 3 i think im done buying games from them. Peace

Did you not read the thread?
This will have no effect on ME 3 development.
BioWare being greedy? lol really? The more money the company makes the better, it's what helps keep people employed so they can make great games like Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age.

Its not " Fan-boyism". Hell I own both the PS3 and the 360... so I'm covered. The point I'm making is the question of the transition of the ME1 saved games....or completely skipping ME1 and turning it into some lame you-tube run through. I'm more interesting in preserving the experience. Damn the systems.

This.  Thank you sir.  My concern too isn't about what system has what but about the gaming experience and without ME1, the faming experience for ME2 on PS3 will be flawed to put it mildly.  That isn't right IMO.

EA holds the rights to ME 2

Better to get ME 2 without ME 1 than to not get ME 2 at all

I posted this in the announcement section about the ps3 game, I figured I should put it over here as well so that other people could see it...

" I asked Christina Norman on twitter, whether or not Me1 choice will be played down more in Me3, now that ps3 can't play Me1, and she told me "Me1 choices will have a big impact on Me3". Which reassures my only negative thought about making Mass Effect playable on Ps3.

Its a dice roll folks.

I guess its one of those things where you'll just have to wait and see.

If you got the PS3 --- then by all means --- dig in.

If you got the 360 --- ditto.

Who cares in the end because... its Mass Effect for everyone.

i realize that they said it wont have an effect on ME2 but dont take everything someone says at face value, sometimes in order to keep people from freaking out sometime a white lie is made. Why dont u think about it. They have to make the game for PSfing3 which is obviously not the same as making it for ps3 and is going to take a while due to finding a way to make the game great for ps3 users becasue they want them to have the same experience and i know bioware wont do anything half assed. Also when it comes to PS3 ports like tales of vesperia they add a pretty good amount of stuff you cant get in the other versions. But most likely like some others have said it will be a way to give the ps3 player a way to pick what happened in the first one. Also yes they are being greedy. The videogame industry makes a ton of freaking money and bioware with all of their hits are in good condition. Think about it a MMO. KOTOR is my favorite game of all time and is now ruined due to subscription fees. Do you want to know why companies make MMO's, to makes tons of money off people who live in their mom's basement. The game could have been one of the greatest games made but will now only look like a WOW knockoff too all those people who think WOW is the greatest and guess what that is the majority off mmo players. The only way i can see bioware saying they are not making a mmo to become insanley rich like Blizzard is if they make it free to play by yourself which would be awesome and i would play it and charge for online play.

I am still trying to figure out how bioware/EA porting over Mass Effect 2 to PS3 is a sin. Bioware may be in the video game industry but they are still a business. Just like any business they want to make money. They realized that they can make more money by making the game for PS3 and went for it. How is that hurting the xbox owners? You still have the game. And there is nothing wrong with being greedy when it comes to work and money. I see that thrown around like its a bad thing. They get more money. a higher budget to make more games like ME3 and dragon age 2.

Three cheers for Greedy Bioware for putting a awesome game on a great console with blue ray and only on one disc

Hope they will not do as Gears of War 1 did when they ported to PC, aka added one extra chapter that never been released to XBox.

I think it will have impact on ME3 none the less, it will look very strange if ME3 for PS3 will come out a year or two after PC/XBox. Thus they will probably hold release until all versions are ready.

Then when they are so spread out, you get a problem of testing, lets face it no game ever released on all platforms was of high quality (in bug/glitch terms), just look at DA. QA team will have to be either very big or spread out.

Also dev team need to attend to porting, so unless Bioware outsourced the work or highered new team then it will have impact on productivity or timeline. And because this is just a port, thus establishing a full scale dev/QA teams is not worth the costs.

I dont care what platform it will be on, and happy for PS3 owners. But as long as it will not have an impact on the PC/XBox in terms of quality, content or timeline.

The biggest and really only problem anyone should have with this, is will bioware now completely scrap the me 1 choices in me 3?

Because they would have to complete basically 2 different games, one for ps 3 where there is no me 1 choices to worry about, and one for 360/pc where the me 1 choices alter the game greatly. I dont think bioware will go through the effort to do that, which means me 1 choices will do fuk all, which means ill be boycotting mass effect.

Unfortunately there wont ever be a Gears of war 2 or 3 for PC.. so take your pick, an extra chapter or 2 whole games to miss out on? :(

If this is true then I have no complaints. ME2 being on PS3 doesn't bother me, doesn't mean a damn thing. I just don't want to not be able to access exclusive content that'll only be on the PS3 and I don't want it to ruin the ME1 choice aspect. If those are true this is GOOD news, hell great news - more Mass Effect fans means more Mass Effect projects.

I'm not interested in ps3 version, but i think it's a good thing for us, more follower for mass effect means more ME games and DLC for everyone. Just one thing on the annuncement worried me, that "hours of bonus content", that's fine if you mean old DLC free for ps3, like bring down the sky for PC version of first chapter, or some Mass Effect 1 Events incorporated on 2nd cause they don't have ME1 for PS3... But It is NOT fine if you mean bonus (and exclusive) missions, planets... or anything we can't have too when ME2 for ps3 is released.

I say, let's just wait and see what will happen. I get the feeling that some of that bonus content will be in line with something that will make up for the fact that only Mass Effect 2 is being released on the PS3 and not ME1 as well. Beyond that, I'm sure things will be balanced out. Bioware knows just how "passionate" their new and veteran fan base can be so take to heart that they will be careful not to alienate anyone. Also, we seem to be forgetting that all this talk and debate is nothing more than conjecture since neither Bioware or EA has revealed anything about the feature sets that the PS3 version will have. Me? Personally? I think I will take the wait and see approach, as everyone else should until more information comes out. At least, that is the sensible thing to do.

I find it amazing people say they are fine with this as long as the bonus content is not exclusive - i mean come on, the only way they can expect to make this ps3 port worth their time is by giving the ps3 version exclusive features. I guarantee it. Every game thats ever had a later port has always had features implemented that were not in the original. Thats how they make money off you! Personally i think the more people that play ME the better, but also i know another verson is in the works that will have content i wont get to play, which totally sucks. In addition it puts a sour note on all upcoming dlc, because theres a pretty decent chance that come january ps3 owners will get all of it at no extra cost, that gets to me as we are currently being milked for this micro dlc. I dont want to hate on ME, its the best game ive ever played, but this kinda bums me out.

Exactly. There MUST be PS3 exclusive content, and something substantial. I've played Mass Effect on PC (still have the disk, but deleted the saves - too bad) but don't yet own Mass Effect 2. Seeing as Steam often offers discounts the only way they can get me to buy PS3 version for $70 instead of steam version for $20 (by the time it's out on PS3) is offering a VERY substantial portion of game content as PS3 exclusive. You know, something that I'll be really missing out if I buy it from steam. In this case, well, I'll take PS3 version. You can never have enough trophies - they like XP in an MMORPG, and getting new level is always sweet.
Well, exclusive alternate ending will suffice, but a small campaign as geth will be ok too.

You know that Bioware will incorporate features that allow people to make more choices regarding the events of ME1 in the PS3 version. You'll be able to choose Ashley/Kaiden and Wrex, as well as choices pertaining to the council.

So for everyone else who got the game at launch...we're stuck with a crappy default beginning, while PS3 owners get to make key choices. This is going to be just one of the ways that the PS3 crowd get over on the rest of us I'm sure. Probably several missions and an extra squad member too. The fact that this game will fit onto one disc also opens up the possibility of being able to recruit all squad mates right after Freedom's Progress, instead of having to split it on two discs.

I get the feeling that a special edition, or GotY edition may accompany the PS3 release. If not then there's a slim chance that the bonus content comes in the form of DLC...which we'll all have to pay for. I'm really hoping that the fans who've been loyal to this series so far don't get shafted because we didn't buy on playstation. It would seriously, and I do mean it, give me pause when considering the purchase of ME3. Before, there was nothing to consider.

Just because its possible, does not make it good idea. Other than one occasion, the second ME2 disc felt much slower than the first one thanks to all the "freedom". Then again the PS3 exclusive content may fix that.

I wouldn't be surprised if the bonus content tied into a way to make ME1 choices relevant. If they do allow a way to make ME1 decisions, I may make my PS3 my default ME machine.
