Sorry about that. Will edit. I still don't think what described will happen, however.

I just hope Bioware does not include exclusive in-game content on the PS3 version. How long did we have to wait just for DLC armor that comes in pieces? Why no helmet toggle? DLC with new maps of current entitlements for DLC armor could have fixed that. If the PS3 version has exclusive content, I WON'T but ME3!

Get new players caught up wit the story. I'm with that, Microsoft won't release the ME1 to any other consoles (they published it). Give them DLC for free. I'm with that, they had to wait a year just to play the game. Just don't give them EXCLUSIVE content. If there is something new available at the PS3 launch, give it to all of us. I paid full price for a Collector's Edition, and bought a new copy of ME1 just so I could play. All I ask is to not be left out.

Thanks for reading my rant...

Here's an article if you haven't read it on what's on the PS3 version.

Enough said about PS3 exclusives. Sony lost so much money on the PS3. IMO its a cheap bluray player at least thats my PS3 is doing. Just playing bluray movies and God of War 3 ( not worth $299 for the game). Xbox is my main gaming console and im thinking of selling my Nintendo Wii. Its gathering alot of dust. As for Mass Effect 2 on PS3, good for them. They get the watered down no ME 1 choices version I guess and add a STORY SO FAR cutscene with all the DLC included like Overlord and Kasumi. As long as they dont butcher ME 3 or make the ME1 choices insignificant i dont care. I want Grunt and Wrex on my main squad in ME 3 damn it ! It would be epic.

too bad halo sucks compared to all those games, and of course halo is going to sell better because thats the only exclusive on the 360 worth getting, a game is going to sell great if theres no other option but that game.

this is why fallout new vegas is gonna be better heh none of this biased console crap

yeah combined with other things Bioware has been doing recently, im starting to like bethesda more, L liked them both before, but Bethesda is jusst looking much better, either have the games out for both at the start, or keep it exclusive, im not having it dumbed down for PS3 playes because they cant play ME1.

Yeah... they just tagged on an extra two years for ME3. I hope you are really happy about it.

"So much for the Mass Effect trilogy saves importing over now. Does this mean Bioware have scrapped that now, because PS3 people can't get ME1. Mass Effect 2 was mainly marketed for the ability to import Mass Effect 1 saves. Without that what is the point of porting it over to PS3?"

"Stop being childish about them getting the DLC for free. This is a common practice for games that get late releases on another console, it's hardly a "harsh insult". They had to wait an extra year to get the game, Bioware knows they can't sell an old game to a new audience without some extra content. Why not add the content they've already made? It makes perfect sense from a business stand point."

Childish? Hardly Sir. Its going where its going to go. Your still shafting someone whether you want to make it sound polished for business or not --- I am sure they'll smile and claim it that way, and they'll get their fair share of the dividends so no one is going to get poor.

If we wanted to discuss business, then you would simply have added ME1 as a DLC game... unfortunately Microsoft won't sell that particularly one, so your now just going to administer the cheap route for an even cheaper result.

Its called being a bunch of @#$@$@#$.

*sigh* This decision doesn't make any sense to me. It's like Releasing "Metal Gear Solid 4" or "God of War 3" for the 360.
Before anyone thinks i'm an Xbox Zealot, I have both a 360 AND a PS3

MGS4? Yes, because that's a third party exclusive. GoW3? No, because that's a first party exclusive.

Either way, deal with it. I don't know what makes some think that Bioware has a life-debt to Microsoft for, it's makes absolutely no sense for them to limit their game to a smaller audeience if they don't have to. It's obvious at this point that Bioware and EA really wan't Mass Effect to be a big deal. This move brings them another step closer to that.

I've nevre gotten on my PS3 on a multiplayer game and had a 13 year old screaming obscenaties to me and calling me names that technically are not possible, but I've had that happen numerous times on XBox and Xbox 360.

My girlfriend was on the phone with when I told her about ths and she made an interesting comment:

What if the bonus content in ME2 is ME1?

It would be interesting since they wont be selling Mass Effect 1, they are selling Mass Effect 2 and giving away 1 and a bonus. It might actually be a legal loophole they can explore.
I don't know I just found it an intriguinging thought that no one considered.

As to the console wars. I think some people are taking name loyalty to a whole new lvl.
Two years ago Microsolft had nothing but exclusives, and the PS3 seemed to just be inching towards and early grave. Last year the PS3 finally came into its own with some very nice exclusives that gave it some life back.
And now it seems that everyone is now comfortable with the PS3 software and jumping on the bandwagon, including companies that swore that they would never go to the PS3 like Valve and Lionhead.
It also does not help that in most reviews the PS3 version is generally recommended over the Xbox 360 version due to the PS3s better graphics capabliities.

I think the Xbox 360 owners are just feeling like the PS3 has been getting way too much attention from developers lately and feel a bit betrayed by Bioware and EA that one of their last bastions has opened its gates.  I honestly think you Xbox 360 guys are going a little bit xenophobic though. I see no harm in PS3 owners getting a shot at the game.

Because if I remember correctly, we PC owners were not exactly extactic when Bioware started developing for the Xbox as well as PC, and you guys don't hear us complaining, now do you?

Well... not much... B)

well i dont understand the story about xbox in the first place. while being dependant on microsoft on pc platform, from my point of view, running freely into that same dependancy seems somewhat dumb. well whatever..... I agree on that person who saids its like watching a cool movie, you'd want a lot of people to see it also and agree with you.

us "mass effect fans" will be a greater number in future due to this and i like that.

but i would also have liked some "real" news from the gamescom.

You know that Bioware will incorporate features that allow people to make more choices regarding the events of ME1 in the PS3 version. You'll be able to choose Ashley/Kaiden and Wrex, as well as choices pertaining to the council.

So for everyone else who got the game at launch...we're stuck with a crappy default beginning, while PS3 owners get to make key choices. This is going to be just one of the ways that the PS3 crowd get over on the rest of us I'm sure. Probably several missions and an extra squad member too. The fact that this game will fit onto one disc also opens up the possibility of being able to recruit all squad mates right after Freedom's Progress, instead of having to split it on two discs.

I get the feeling that a special edition, or GotY edition may accompany the PS3 release. If not then there's a slim chance that the bonus content comes in the form of DLC...which we'll all have to pay for. I'm really hoping that the fans who've been loyal to this series so far don't get shafted because we didn't buy on playstation. It would seriously, and I do mean it, give me pause when considering the purchase of ME3. Before, there was nothing to consider.

Not so sure about this. I mean, that would require new dialogue since in the x360 and pc version it wasn't for instance possible to have samara say things during the recruitment of archangel, simply because that specific order of recruitment wasn't possible. Would be cool if they added some cool mako style exploring levels or bigger exploring in general though. I've always hated the fact that you instantly dropped off in a relatively small level and instantly returned to the normandy. I liked the exploring/walking in ME1. The blu-ray disc should be big enough for this but somewhere I know this is foolish hope.

Thats not true the characters have dialog for parts they shouldnt be unlocked for yet mod that INI son

Well I'm going to be honest and say I really don't like this news because I seriously detest Sony, and this will just allow them to get a greater foothold on the market. It's the reason why I buy most of my games on the 360 and not on my PS3.

I'll be disappointed if this gives the PS3 an edge because ever since launch Sony have shown they

don't understand gamers at all and their initial arrogance was and still is detestable to me.

That hasn't been my experience. I've chosen the PS3 version over the 360 a few times based on comparison reviews. Sometimes it's for the graphics, sometimes its for the content. In fact, I find myself skewed towards the PS3 versions now, just based on graphics.

THAT was the Sony of '06 & '07. They have mended some of there ways since then, especially when it comes to delivering killer games. Oh, and for the record I own both systems and like them both based on content and their own strengths. I maintain an open and don't let myself get bogged down in fanboyism for either company. There are more than a few running around this forum that could benefit from a more open and neutral stance.

The XBOX community is the most pathetic, base level group of morons on the planet.

The "west" is doomed because of the XBOX generation, never in my life have I heard the things I have heard coming from MW2 on XBOX.  Its really sad actually.

PS3, in my experience, is much more mature as a community.  That said, all internet/gaming communities have their psychos.  I think the percentage is just higher on XBOX.
