Yeah... they just tagged on an extra two years for ME3. I hope you are really happy about it.

Elated, now they can work on it properly instead of a rush release. I am exceptionally fearful Dragon Age 2 will be a lackluster title due to this. Much as I know relishing the opportunity to play ME3 - provided certain requirements. I would much prefer a year or two delay and have a superior product for my patience.

Add dreadlocks to customizable hair even though we all know it's not going to happen, removable helmet for DLC armors (I haven't played ME2 in ages and never really bought any of the DLC so if it was already updated...).

These are my prerequisites for another buy though I do understand these are petty reasons they're my petty reasons

Great not only did BioWare jump ship but they keep mentioning...

'HOURS OF ENDLESS FUN AND EXTRA CONTENT FOR PS3'

does BioWare want to sh*t on our chests anymore? Great, you moved to PS3, big market over their when they can't even play Mass Effect 1, what a waste of time, plus the format change means it takes longer to port DLC to PS3, so I'm guessing you've already thought of that, my guess is that PS3 will have > DLC to increase the market size.

Please don't give exclusive content to the ps3 version. The opening part of the game that's fine being different, because it is needed to bring the ps3 users into the whole storyline and atmosphere, but i would feel kind of screwed over if there was any. I think it's a good decision though, to have it for ps3, and will open up the fan base of me universe.

Well if you take it from the PS3 owners point of view they're already screwed by not experiencing the Mass Effect Trilogy as a whole considering one is still exclusive to the 360. So what's a few exclusive content 360 owners and PC owners get one game to go along with their enjoyment to the Mass Effect universe let PS3 have it's own thing.

And from what I understand from are these:

-360 & PC owners would consider themselves screwed over by Bioware should the PS3 version have exclusive content.

-PS3 owners are basically already screwed by receiving the game a year later, they're also screwed because should they even receive an intro type scenario where you could make the major choices they won't ever really care or experience the true emotional impact of some of the choices, another reason though minor is that the novelty of the minor choices won't show up like Conrad Verner.

If Bioware does this don't be surprised and don't say that Bioware screwed you over, business is business and Bioware needs to make a game that they plan to sell full price appealing to gamers who could get it cheaper outside their preferred system.

i just find it funny that microsoft came out with that crappy statement on how me1 was 360 exclusive only when in fact me1 also got ported to pc....  now i admit im a 360 owner but i do find ms attitude kinda ****ty because imo i believe mass effect is a series that every gamer should be able to play. i see alot of posts on here about how bioware sold there souls to ea but ask yourselves this if that is the case why didnt bioware sell themselves out to ms? just think for a moment if bioware stayed exclusivley to ms they wouldve been screwed ovr because ms imo is evil.

I'm also an X360 gamer and have no problem with the game coming to the PS3. Funny thing is that BioWare is in for a loose-loose scenario regarding its fans because:

1. ME2's edition for the PS3 sticks with ME1's canon story, therefore everyone will say that PS3 folks are not getting the full Mass Effect experience, or...

2. ME2's edition for the PS3 comes with this whole new intro that allows gamers to make capital choices regarding ME1, and then the other fans will complain that they didn't get that kind of feature for the X360 or PC.

What should BioWare do? I really don't know...

My guess is that history is going to repeat,MGS2 was multiplatform but MGS1 and MGS3 weren't.

I see that as a most unlikely probability.

Regarding MGS2 appearing on Xbox whereas 3 didn't, the fact was the original Xbox perofrmance was pretty bad especially compared to the PS2. This generation which just so happens to be the generation Mass Effect appears in already has both major core consoles passing the 35 million mark (PS3 38M, X360 41M) the fact is the two consoles have a large enough fanbase that dropping support for another would be counter productive to what they as a business would go for. Especially considering the price of game development nowadays that reaching the widest possible audience is the way to go.

Plus the fact that as said before both consoles are above the 35 million mark you see more people much more vocal about the industry. Back then if all the 24 million Xbox owners complained that they never got MGS3 their voices would be drowned by the 143 million PS2 gamers. Now if Bioware suddenly says we'll give you ME2 but we won't  give you ME3 the public outcry would be much more visible.

It would end up worst in sales (not saying the sales will be bad but for business more is always better), and would damage the reputation of those involved including Bioware.

I really can't understand why some people are disappointed with Mass Effect 2 ps3 release? Is it really so bad that more of us will play this epic game? I got ME2 on PC but i gonna play it on my console for sure. Whatsmore it is obvious now that PS3 owners will have a chance to play ME3. For gaming community it's great news and sign that the death of of exclusive titles is close.

LOL HAY GUIZ!

I neglected to wade through the 16 pages of complaints (going through the first three was bad enough) so forgive me if I'm repeating someone.

Bioware is a business and its first priority is to make money. Expanding their product to a new set of players is a wonderful way to make money. It adds a whole new fanbase to provide profits to the company so that they can make better games for us! Yay us! For those of you who have an irrational hate towards the new fanbase, I can only suggest some sort of rage therapy.

For those of you who are angry about the PS3 getting "more" content than the 360, you probably have nothing to worry about. If Bioware is as savvy a company as I think it is, it will most likely have something for us 360 users as well. It is extremely unrealistic that Bioware is going to kick one of its largest fan bases to the curb.

Now, that being said, I do have a slight problem with the lack of Mass Effect 1 for the PS3. However, I am confident that Bioware has probably already worked this out. Just because you have not figured out a way around this as you sit at your computer in your home does not mean that Bioware, an extremely successful video game company who does this for a living, has not.

Like Jamesmc93 before me, i read the first two pages then skipped to the back.

I'm just baffled that the 360 owners are feeling scorned by Bioware. Shouldn't you be happy that Bioware want's to expand the game to greater audiences? If you follow Bioware closely then you know they plan on making "Mass Effect" an entertainment juggernaut, that means big console sales and they're even planning a movie. (Btw, don't forget EA is calling some of the shots now too, they're one of the biggest money grubbers in the industry.)

That aside, it doesn't matter what console you play as long as the players find the same experiences. So what if the ps3 users might get flashy new guns or cool armor, but 360 users already HAVE the game. Not to mention the severe issue for ps3 users not being able to get ME1. This is what concerns me the most; I, like many of you, love the first ME and I really cared about my crew and story choices.

This is actually what i wanted to comment on, I play mostly on my ps3. The only reason why i have a 360 is to play mass effect, where i don't hate the games on this console i just find that xbox 360 itself as a machine is a hunk of junk (been through 4 systems).

So, in conclusion i think that people who support the ps3 release should really try and voice their opinion on how Bioware needs to put ME1 on ps3 as well. Bioware stakes themselves on story driven games; so then i ask how are we, as the consumers, getting that full immersive experience on one of Bioware's greatest games without the first installment?

Oh, and on another note. i saw someone, or maybe multiple people, saying this will delay the production of ME3... I just want to ask, how do you know this? Where are the facts behind this statement? Do you really think the entire Mass Effect team is going to spend their time creating a port? If you know how the gaming industry works, then you should already know that the answer is "No."

I'm 99% positive that they're working diligently on ME3 as we speak, have patience. I'm pretty sure by January 2011 (when the Ps3 gets ME2) we'll all hear something about the third game.

Pachter also has insisted year after year and conference after conference since GDC 2008 that Nintendo is going to release a "WiiHD" yet it still hasn't happened. And has been insisting since 2007 that Wii's sales are going to drop dramatically unless they make a WiiHD. Wrong again.

Have a look at some of Pachter's other predictions...

Pachter isn't psychic or something. He's just smart and observant, and know how the bussines works, but makes mistakes. Still he's usually right so people call him "misterknowseverything" or something like that. Porting the Mass Effect franchise to ps3 - makes sence right? The WiiHD - makes sense too, although it's pretty obvious that Nintendo has some kind of a deal with satan or something, so they will make money no matter what - it's either that or the casual gaming market is just so huge, choose your pick.

Regarding your performance statement between the PS2 amnd the original Xbox. If you mean the performance of the MGS game for the two systems, you are correct, if you're talking about the systems themselves and their hardware, the Xbox craps all over the PS2. The Xbox is by far more powerful than the PS2. Caveat, I am not a fanboy, but I do know hardware, and the hardware in the Xbox was much more powerful than the PS2.

So pissed, no such thing as exclusives anymore. Ever since the announcement of EA taking the rights to ME, I knew this would go down hill. Currently playing ME2 for the first time and loving it, so at least they didn't get their over controlling hands on BioWare but still, first party proprietary servers for DLC and now this, I mean come on, just another big boy corp trying to make an extra buck. Sorry to anyone excited about this, I know it sounds aggressive but I don't expect to MGS4 anytime soon, or GranTourismo.

I'm alright with MGS4 not coming to the 360.  I bought my 360 for games, not movies.  And I don't think PS3 owners will ever get another GT title, either.  :P

They need to go the Oblivion route, but a step further, and release this with ALL DLC included. It would kinda cheat the PS3 owners to release this game a year late, then charge full price for the additional DLC. They need to be given a little something extra, and I think this would be the way to go.

Or, at the very least, include only the Kasumi, Zaeed, Overlord, and Liara DLC. I have all DLC so far, and these are really the only ones of any lasting value. Granted, I bought the Firepower Pack, but have yet to play ME2 since then, so I don't really have an opinion on that DLC.
