So essentially PS3 players have to play the default story in ME2.



This indicates one of two things;



A. Bioware is moving away from the lure of importing save games. This option doesn't bode well for all of us who want our decisions to matter/squadmates to return. This is a strong move into the "standalone game" direction



B. They're going to find a way to get the ME1 rights in order to put it out for PS3.

Big assumption with nothing to back it up.
I was always expecting an ME3 release holiday next year (announced at E311), not that I have any proof either, but why would a PS3 port change it at all?  There's more than enough time for PS3 owners to play ME2, and Bioware have more than enough staff to handle the workload.

I think it's pretty lame, to be honest...ps3 has a ton of exclusive awesome titles including Metal Gear Solid and God of War...What was so cool was that for once, Xbox 360 had a really awesome set of games(ME 1&2) that was exclusive to it. Now, it's gone multi platform...Just pure lame money-grabbing crap.

You know they might put together a summary of the first game with a few dialogue choices you can make that will kinda take the place of the major decisions from the first game.

yup there is tons of games from ps3 that will never be seen on the 360 but some how ps3 always manages to get 360 games, lol.

Oh well hope these ps3 guys have fun with it but i can already tell the fanboys from ps3 are gonna have a field day with this.

This explains completely why ME2 felt like a standalone game. They knew they were porting it so they designed ME2 to be a pick up and play forget about the first style game.

Exactly.

On further thought, I wonder if the bonus content won't include aquick recap of ME1 to get the big decisions in.

As for release date, with DA2 and TOR out the first half of next year there was no chance for ME3 to come out before holiday 2011 anyway.

Mass Effect 2 is indeed coming to the Playstation 3. It is scheduled for January 2011 and will include hours of bonus content.

All I have to say is that if they create an import utility that lets you check boxes from ME1 (Conrad Verner alive Y/N, Council Dead Y/N etc.) that they had better do the same for the 360 version. ANYTHING to keep me from having to play through ME1 yet again.

Me1 and me2 were already multiplatform more or less . It was ported to yhe PC pretty quickly

It explains alot about how they dropped almost everything from ME1 and targeted a new fanbase while still leeching off the original fanbase who were unaware of the changes made.

It doesn't matter. The PS3 port might be made by a different studio. However, it WILL delay ME3 because now that they've done ME2 for PS3, they'll also make ME3 for PS3 and making a game for 3 different systems will definitely delay it

Personally...I'm glad its coming to ps3, its my main console...I'll be glad to be able to play one of my favorite games without have to unplug one console and plug in another. Yeah, I'm lazy...

Does this mean ME3 as well? I doubt it...I can see them releasing ME1 after ME2...and then ME3.
Funny, why couldn't they of just ported ME1 first? Meh...they'll probably just have a "Story so far" vid before the start of the game. Though don't they have a contract with Microsoft which disallows them to port ME1 to the PS3? Or any other non microsoft owned console.

Gah...oh well. I'm happy.
