Damn, it looks like I'll have to buy all the DLC again... but on the PS network. It also looks like my run through on the PS3 won't have Wrex alive since ME isn't on the PS3 and therefore, no Wrex :(

heh for all we know we may get to keep the original crew and add the new people :) who knows maybe the beginning itself will be diffrent

Oh this news is just fine! Surely theyll handle this in a fair manner right? Like re-releasing ME1 and letting everyone have equal-

Mass Effect 2 is indeed coming to the Playstation 3. It is scheduled for January 2011 and will include hours of bonus content.

If you have not seen it yet, you can check out the Mass Effect website to see the Mass Effect 2 PS3 announce video. Check it out here: http://masseffect.bioware.com/ :)

Microsoft is sure losing this *console war*

I wonder if Gear's War or Halo will come to the Ps3?

They've been at least 5 million ahead of PS3 the entire generation, 99% of multiplatform games sell better on 360, 1st party games sell better on 360 than ps3 (though there is more 1st party games on ps3, they just don't sell well), xbox live continues to embarrass psn in features and makes them almost $1 billion a year in revenue alone..

All the while Sony has bled money this gen, and is just now...4 years later, making a little bit of money on the ps3.  I'm sure MS is really crying.

only reason why ms is winning is because theyll pay 40 million to keep something exclusive. now that to me is greedy

This.  Sony has so many exclusive games that will never see the 360 because they made the smart decision to buy and own all these studios(Polyphony, Naughty Dog, Media Molecule, Guerrilla. ZIpper, etc., etc.) whereas Microsoft has decided to throw money at third party developers for exclusive games and content.  It's a poor strategy on their part.

What's the next game, EA? "Mass Effect: Batarian farm in Skyllian Verge" for Wii? I have a PS3, but it doesn't exclude my thoughts about all of this.

Seriously, I fear the path which Mass Effect is getting. ME3 will be shallow by economical issues too?

remember when gta4 came out? microsoft spent 40 million bucks to keep the 2 dlcs exclusive to xbox live then later on they released it on a disk titled  gta lost chapters wich had both the ballad of gay tony and the lost and damned.. to me thats greedy as hell. now if bioware can do something similar wich includes all the dlcs plus over lord and lair of shadow broker to me that would be worth the money.

i hope this makes some money. i mean, how many people haven't played ME2 yet?

perhaps the extra PS3 content will be the expansion that bridges the gap between me2-3?

*hopes?* or it might just be all the DLC so far for free...

I sure didn't think it would happen this quickly. Good for Bioware. That should mean some big bucks.

It was a smart decision for you, the gamer, but not a business one.  Like I said, all of the money they made on ps2 was blown within a year of the ps3, and they lost an insane amount of money up until a few months ago, while MS has been profitable for around 2 years now.  They don't NEED exclusives outside of Halo, because the third party attach rate on 360 is insane, as well as the profits from xbox live.

These exclusives for Sony have done absolutely squat for them this gen.  Last I looked, the biggest 1st party game they had was Killzone 2, which didn't even crack 4 million.

The "hours of bonus content" is likely just the DLC that's been released so far. Things like Kasumi, Overlord, and the Shadow Broker DLC. They're not going to give ps3 owners anything significant unless they also release it on 360.

That's what I thought. It will be all the DLC we've played so far (including the Shadow Broker) pre-installed. There's no way they include totally new stuff.

I agree with the guy that said it might be a brief, watered down ME1. Just to give the PS3 n00bs a backstory.

The PS3 hasn't even reached it's midpoint yet in its expected 10 year cycle and the 360 came over a year before the PS3 - So the turning of a profit is comparable.  The decision to include a Blu-Ray is what killed them financially at the outset, but it is starting to pay off now that they have the system priced accordingly with the competition.

You will see those attach rates get closer and closer as time moves on.  I think Sony's strategy is better in the long run - For me the gamer as well as them.

Come on, people, this can't be a surprise! It's always about money. Bioware or EA or whoever's behind this is no different. Nobody's gives a crap about exclusive rights anymore. And I don't care, either.

Be generous! I was so happy when it was announced that Final Fantsy XIII would be coming out for the xbox. How can I begrudge ps3 player Mass Effect?!

Think about it: the more money BW is making, the better for ME3. You want a great game, then be glad BW will have additional funds! (Unless it doesn't add up after all...)

Ok, I am a tiny bit worried myself about where Mass Effect might be going, now that BW is going mainstream big time. But this is NOT bad news.

The only thing that would really ****** me off, is exclusive DLC for ps3. Then again, I've never bought any DCLs because I don't support this new practice of squeezing the fans for money like that. If you're so upset about BW being so greedy, you shouldn't support this by buying the DLCs!! But apparently you can get fans to do anything. So why not give Mass Effect to the ps3, throw in some exclusive DLCs and you'll get enough people to buy a ps3 just to get it.

This discussion really makes me laugh.

ms also confirmed that there gona continue to build on the 360 instead of creating a full new system....... personaly as a 360 owner thats a bad idea. i love play station and all but i agree that they did screw themselves with the blu ray deal.

or ea could try and buy the rights back because think for a moment the me franchise will indeed make more money if it did go multi console.
