Not going to read the entire thread to see who else picked up on this but here are some observations I made in the varric thread:
-Confirmation there will be only 2 narrators from Mike. Unless
there is a secret narrator they are avoiding mentioning. Most likely
they mean Varric and Cass? Or Varric and someone else?
-Default
Hawke is apparently some sort of arcane warrior/bloodmage. They
obviously realised that that particular build was godly in Origins...
Apostate Hawke to be the default story then?
-Hawke
battles a Qunari warrior at Kirkwall. All while Flemmeth is discussing
destiny and whatnot. Seeing as it was not a special hornless Qunari, if
this fight has any bearing on the story (and in I think it might, given
the montage as well) then we could see a Qunari invasion of the Free
Marches. Very interesting Sten-potential right there. I don't care if he
died in your game.

-Hawke's 'mageyness'. It's
debatable that this is some new warrior stuff, a weapon that shoots fire
and whatnot. However that doesn't explain the fire he shoved in the
Qunari's face, nor his use of blood and the glowy red eyes. It reeked of
blood mage warrior to me, but it could be something Flemmeth related,
seeing as they are bigging up her 'dragon' form then we all know
Dragon's can grant strange powers (reaver spec).
-If Hawke is a blood mage, then it makes his
smearing of blood on his face a bit more notable than just him wanting
to be Adam Ant.
-New sword styles evident. Qunari seems to be dual wielding with a particularly large double headed axe as well.
-The design on the King/Prince's cloak looks Dwarven to me. Not sure what that might imply, if anything.
-I
must admit I love Hawke's cocky almost jaunty pose and stroll up the
steps. He isn't very militaristic/stupidly buff which I approve of. But
then he does seem to be a mage.

-Incidentally if he -is- a
mage then that would explain his default weapon. It will be a special
Arcane Warrior weapon (Not saying it will be restricted to AW if that
spec is even in the game, but it will be designed for combat mages).
That doesn't mean we won't see polearms used by other classes though,
I'm just speculating.
-Hawke's sword staff (I think it's the end
of it) has a strange amber gem set into the pommel, with root like
things around it, very Morrigan-ish.
-Big round red circle on Qunari's axe, symbol of the Qun? Or something else? I can't remember if we've seen it before.
-He also has a white symbol on his shoulder pad.
-Incidentally default Hawke's shoulder pad/gauntlet combo looks kinda silly but I'll let it pass.
-Yeah his sword staff definitely has that orb on the pommel, probably magical.
-Mountains in the distance.
-The orb seems to glow while Hawke uses his weapon.
-More
Dwarven-y symbols on the pillars. Or are they Tevinter in origin? Just
remembered Tevinter uses similar designs on the runes.
-Hawke burns the Qunari using his gauntlet hand. Is it magic or some sort of corruption on that arm?
-I
swear the Qunari uses a magical attack to stop Hawke's flame attack. It
happens to fast to be sure though. Seems unlikely as the Qunari don't
like mages and keep them chained up, but still.
-Nope whatever
power Hawke has isn't confined to his gauntlet arm. After being wounded
you can see him cut his other arm (the cuts on which are already glowing
red with power). His cut starts smoking and then you get the montage of
memories as he closes his eyes.
-Hawke making out with the gypsy
woman/pirate lady. Guessing she comes from Antiva or Rivain judging by
appearance? Maybe the Qunari will play a big role in this. Big pirates
of the Caribbean vibe with her, she has golden earrings with a skull on
them and a headscarf/bandana. Maybe she is played by Penelope Cruz
(what? I can dream right?)
-Ah she is definitely a pirate lady, there is a boat in the background.
-Looks
like she betrays Hawke, or similar. She tries to leave, he grabs her,
she points a sword at him. Maybe he is really clingy? [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie]
-Flaming buildings. Could be Lothering?
-
Really interesting
shot of Hawke gazing down upon a canyon strewn with statues and ancient
looking buildings. In the distance is a hill/mountain with a fortress
on the top. Actually this could just be Kirkwall, unless that fight
takes place elsewhere. The architechture is similar.
-
Really disturbing
image of some weird dragonmonsterthing after that. It's all emmaciated
and thing, but with the same overal shape as a dragon (wing like
[protrusions and whatnot) glowing red and screaming.
-It then
seems to fly off. Further confirming dragon-ness. The area it is in he
cracked and dead looking with red light coming from underground. Could
this be related to the Dragons that were killed in the Free Marches?
-Hawke's
hands closing a set of big heavy metal doors that lead out into a
cavern. Looks deep road-ish to me, and you can see ruined architecture
in the background. Doesn't seem very deep though, looks like light
spilling down from above.
-VERY annoyingly the next few moments
are really bad quality for some reason, all block and you can't make
anything out. Surely not intentional? You can make out Hawke looking
down at something in a cave though. Wait scrap that he is now looking up
at some giant thing.
-Flemmeth in Dragon form. Unclear whether this was what Hawke was looking at a moment before.
-Flemmy in human form beconing to something.
-Hawke
fighting some giant metal dude with two huge swords in an old building.
I can't make screengrabs right now but this guy looks odd, completely
metal it seems and huge. It has a human looking face though, and is
dressed as if in armor. Some new form of golem? It has like the spikiest
shoulder pads of all time.
-Hawke fighting some other monstrous
thing with a blue core that looks like it's made of rock. Really hard to
make out though and goes by faster than the Flash. It's underground
though, so maybe the same thing I mentioned before Flemmeth.
-Ah
clearer shot of it. It has a head and massively oversized arms. Looks
golem-like to me but much much bigger and OTT. Kinda like you might
imagine a really badass Shale before she got chiseled down. It's blue
core reminds me of something but I can't think what.
-Very Lord of the Rings style shot of a bunch of warriors lining up with shields and spears (think
the start of Fellowship and the battle with Sauron). They are Templar's
judging by the symbol on their shields (the sword with waves coming off
it).
-They are fighting a large group of black clad dudes in a barron area with old pillars dotted about.
-A shot I missed of Flemmeth standing on a cliff overlooking something we can't see (Hawke fighting the rock dude?)
-Finally
got the shot of the black robe guys. I'm calling it now, they are
maleficarum of some sort, they all seem to have staves and robes. They
are a mixture of male and female from what I can see.
-I have a feeling I can see a dragons wings in the background of their 'group shot' Flemmeth?
-Another
shot of the two armies lining up. This looks like it could be to do
with the civil war as we already know the Templar's/Chantry is heavily
involved. Mages unleashed? Would certainly explain why they have made
Hawke a mage (seemingly).
-Back to the fight and Hawke has glowy red eyes now. Could be blood mageyness could be something else.
-Regardless
he shoots some sort of crazy fireball out of his arm that sets fire to
the Qunari. Interestingly the fireball almost seems to have dragon wings
for a brief moment.
- It isn't a normal fireball at all in fact,
it grabs the Qunari's arms and holds him in place. Very blood magic to
me, but can't shake the feeling Dragon's are involved.
-Implied dismemberment of Qunari by Hawke.
-"These are the ones that change the world forever." - Yay for Kate Mulgrew.
-Flemmeth dialogue stuff:
"There
are men that struggle against destiny, only to have it swallow them
whole." - Talking about Hawke I reckon. Probably in relation to him
getting swallowed whole by Varric's chest hair in act 2.
"And
there are men who embrace destiny and do not show their fear" - scrap
that both of these talk about Hawke I think. It's probably to do with
player choice, embrace your destiny or struggle with it. As Varric fans
we will all be in the first camp, we know you can't struggle against
that chest hair.
-Cosmetic note: Garrett Hawke really does remind me of Morrigan.
I saw someone speculate that Bethany might be taken as Flemmeth's new
'daughter' - but what if it doesn't have to be a daughter? Flemmeth
might be planning on using Hawke for some similar reason. Maybe she is
like a lot of us here and wants to try playing as the opposite gender? [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie]
One definite fact I got out of this trailer was: Regardless of the rest the music in DA2 is going to be freaking fantastic.
