-VERY annoyingly the next few moments
are really bad quality for some reason, all block and you can't make
anything out. Surely not intentional? You can make out Hawke looking
down at something in a cave though. Wait scrap that he is now looking up
at some giant thing.

Yeah, that was annoying. I saw something that I thought looked like a broodmother, but the quality was so bad it might just have been a lumpy rock formation.

The final shot of Hawke reminded me of Irenicus in the BG2 concept art. But I suppose that's a kind of standard fantasy-mage posture. Facing the viewer, one hand outstretched holding fire.

Am I the only one who LOVES Hawke's default armor? Maybe it's because I'm Asian or maybe it's because I enjoy Final Fantasy games but I actually like the influences of East Asian armor and weaponry. *shrug*

I like it too.. I also like how "practical" it is with the pouches and what not, it looks more belieavable than some of the fantasy armour we see in these sorts of games.

Loved the trailer. It leaves alot of questions wich is awesome in my opinion. Why would I wan't to know whats happening from the begining? I loved it, and Hawke's badassness made me clap when he kung-fu'ed that qunari :-).

But did it remind anyone of the NWN 2 trailer? :) DEFINATE BUY!

I think you guys are putting way to much effort into trying to figure out what type of weapon he's weilding :P Its a sword attached to a staff! Imagine flemeths staff (if she had one) put together with maric's blade (just an example).

Yeah. the crystal ball thingy on one end kinda makes it look like that: a sword merged w/ a mage's staff.

I still say 'nagamaki', tho'. :P
aka: glaive

Wish he had a flintlock pistol...

Honestly, I didn't get much of a vibe from this trailer. The graphic is cool and I'm looking forward to the ground flame technique but afar from that I'm missing a real inspirational motive to buy DA2 (aside the fact that I'm fan based already).

We have lots of months ahead to be surrounded by the videos of actual gaming to decide. So it is still too soon to judge anything.

Neutral about it. Default Hawke looks way better here then in concept art, but the armors looked silly, the sword was OK to me, something that can be used both as halberd and DH Sword, but the fight was quite bad, over the top movements from both that would have gotten them killed against someone more serious, and Hawke´s victory move...why not start with it? Was it a limit breaker he had to charge? Whoever did this have a look at the Witcher1 intro and outro.

I liked the old Final Fantasies, but I start to get indignant when I see armor that IS NOT designed for it's function, which is to provide protection for the wearer, but instead is designed for a JPOP Fashion Runway like the "armor" from FF13

That's why I loved the Sacred Ashes Trailer, the Warden's armor was believable

Well we did see a new companion in that pirate girl, so that's something.

Pirate girl is gonna die... That's her destiny => Hawke is going to have his revenge over qnari who killed her :)

Trailer was awesome, lots teasing, good narrating, cool fighting.
Btw what was Hawke's weapon, a sword? A spear? A sweard...

It's called a Polearm to answer the general question. If you want the specific name (like there are longswords and greatswords) then it's a Halberd. A sword strapped to a spear. And let the HalBEARD jokes commence!:police:

Halberds have poles arround 2 meters long, they are designed for fighting from a distance and against horse-riding enemies.  The sword had a "hilt" less than a metre long and so offers no real advantage to range or precision and instead gets in the way.  Also halberds tend to have a distinct cutting edge similar to an axe with a spike often used for sweeping or dismounting to ballance the blade.  This was closer to a naginata (which we have definitely seen examples of in concept art), but again the pole is too short and naginata have a distinct curve and single cutting edge.

The Glaive is an example of a pole-arm with a double edged blade, but the blade was far too short and ended with a crossbar.  It's intention was to impail at a distance.  Again it was also mounted on a pole between one and a half and two meters in length.

The sword shown in the trailer is not a real weapon in any way shape or form.

Wow, you inferred all of that immediately? You're my new best friend! I chose a Halberd specifically for the joke and because its the only medieval european weapon that fits the description btw (like I said pikes are used for stabbing and thrusting).

Anyways, yea. Like I said, it's not a real weapon so I hope its a unique model and not a generic one. Otherwise I won't be able to stomach watching my characters use that weapon class. I mean, I like Starfang and Vigilance but if all my characters were using swords like that I might just go with a pure mage party.

They look like they're waving gardening implements. Perhaps this is what they looked like before they started listening to Marilyn Manson.

It looks FAR more practical for fighting in than the full plates in DA:O.

Sacred Ashes also showed a Warrior while this one seems to show a Mage / Fighter hybrid. That robe might just be the DA2 version of the Origin cloth robes.

Edit: Origin robes would've looked silly. Especially the hat.

Good trailer. I also like that the site has been updated with a bit of information and an FAQ.

Trailer looked and sounded good to me. A couple thoughts:
Pirate lady... could Isabella from the Pearl return by any chance?
Hawke seems to use magic after he gets cut... blood magic?
Fighting a horned qunari... I presume that the qunari invasion will play a major role in the plot?

It did look like Isabella, didn't it? But maybe not... She did seem to be male Hawke's LI, though.

And Hawke used both a sword AND some firey spells... Hmmm... Almost like there was a class with a second class. Interesting!

I can't wait for new updates on people, places and creatures. So excited!

Thanks for the trailer, Bioware <3

You said your cancelling your order based on the CGI trailer (which doesn't represent the gameplay at all)
You then said that you didn't like the Sacred Ashes trailer (so you must be aware that it obviously doesn't represent the gameplay at all)

Now your either an idiot or a troll, take your pick.

See in the upper left? That appears to be a dragon, and may be Flemeth. Could she have followers? (aka: a dragon cult that follows her?)

There are men who struggle against destiny...
And there are men who embrace destiny...

Look, I get it. You want to show how BADASS your game is, and even a hint of a female Hawke would ruin that because we know that women can't ever be awesome. But given that it IS possible to play as a female Hawke, I find it just a TINY BIT offputting that the trailer uses language that implies Hawke must be a man's man and could never be a girl ever.

Seriously, it's not that hard to say "people" instead of "men."

I need to avoid all trailers because they are more likely to drive me away from DA2 than get me hyped up for it.
