from what i saw from the screenshot given in the EA conference those graphics from cgi could be very well be the real graphics of the game if not close to it.
lol to the big hands hawke summoned *cough* Devil may cry 3

Is that conference posted some where? I noticed the live stream link doesn't work now (which makes sense, considering it isn't live any more).

yupp i saw the link in a thread called The First Trailer the thread is like locked now though

Am I the only one who LOVES Hawke's default armor? Maybe it's because I'm Asian or maybe it's because I enjoy Final Fantasy games but I actually like the influences of East Asian armor and weaponry. *shrug*

No I like his armor too. I'm not the biggest FF fan in the world though (thought 7 and 8 were quite good), and the gauntlet/pauldron is a bit rediculous - although somewhat in line with what Gladiator's sometimes wore. However I really like the rest of the design, such as the furs and weapon.

I also like the armour. Loghain clanking around DAO in a vast metal suit always pushed at my suspension of disbelief. Even more than the elves, dwarves and magic did. Weird.

It´s the kind of armor you would wear in battle, Hawke´s is the kind of armor that would get you killed in a battle.

I also like the look of his armor and a FF fan too :)

I'm guessing no idea when in the time line its going to be set, I did wonder if Hawke was meant to be Morrigan's son though

Mages tend to do that.

I liked the look of both combatants in the DA2 trailer, too. Hawke's in particular (again, kinda looks more 'apt' for a dark fantasy setting than the Warden's rather shiny armor in SA...but I still like the SA trailer better :P )
<---not an FF fan (tho' I did like the CGI move...Spirits Within  )

re: Loghain's armour
if anything, I wish it were more 'ornate' (I didn't really think that his and Cailan's armour were that impressive...I guess it's because Ferelden's a 'backwater'?)

Look, I get it. You want to show how BADASS your game is, and even a hint of a female Hawke would ruin that because we know that women can't ever be awesome. But given that it IS possible to play as a female Hawke, I find it just a TINY BIT offputting that the trailer uses language that implies Hawke must be a man's man and could never be a girl ever.

Seriously, it's not that hard to say "people" instead of "men."

I need to avoid all trailers because they are more likely to drive me away from DA2 than get me hyped up for it.

Well Bloody hell, they weren't going to say "women" for a male Hawke were they? In Medeival fantasy games it's always going to be a default man, because they were the bloody people who fought in the armies in those days. In Final Fantasy games, it's always going to be a women ninja :P Chill out ffs, it's awesome, and heres hoping that fem Hawke is really...really...REALLY HOT.

Can't, Morrigan is with the Warden or about to meet the Warden when the game starts. Hawke's story starts off in Lothering before the Darkspawn sack it.

I saw the trailer and started hyperventilating no ****! I've been looking forward to this and as a release trailer it has met and exceeded my expectations. It looks completely badass! I love the fact that Hawke is fighting a Qunari in the beginning, the fact that he is a mage of some sort as a default is amazing. And that Flemeth is narrating! Ohh and Love the flashbacks the pirate wench has me very curious!!

Though I can't wait to see game play this was a wonderful first DA2 fix and I am so proud of myself for pre-ordering it even now!

Or it could just mean the "men" in the context of humans..

That she'll be awesome, amazing and be well written until the ending where the game falls apart and she, who is dying after being beaten by you, can spend hours talking with you about the future before falling down a pit and blowing up?

Get killed?
Hope they remove the all group packed together after a cutscene while the enemy is in all the worst places to kill you. Too many fights started with mage run away after a mana clash.

I have to agree here. Using "men" instead of "people" or "those" may ring off the tongue better, but it also rubs me the wrong way slightly. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the trailer and everything, and I'll even (albeit not always very happily) accept the reasons why trailers etc. must be ALL  MALE  PC, ALL  THE  TIME, but it's little things where they could easily have given a bit more leeway that end up being kind of irritating.

Oh I see im not allowed to express my opinion of something if it isnt exactly what you think?

You said your cancelling your order based on the CGI trailer (which doesn't represent the gameplay at all)
You then said that you didn't like the Sacred Ashes trailer (so you must be aware that it obviously doesn't represent the gameplay at all)

Now your either an idiot or a troll, take your pick.

Nope it didnt but it reflected what the aim of the game was, A group of people working together to take down the enemy, not one uber warrior who flaws anything in his path and oh when he gets hurt hes even more powerful.... sounds like the hulk in that respect which is my least fav superhero idea.

Maybe Im seeing what I expect to see based on the limited info we have, but maybe not watching this suggests to me that..... him does it all himself hes the ultimate warrior anyone who hurts him simply makes him more powerful. My point was I have enough games where I have an all powerful warrior, this trailer for me makes it look like the party members are simply along for the ride.

Granted perhaps i didnt explain it well but last time I checked saying i dont like something doesnt make me a troll.

I'll admit to liking his swordstaff though:wub:

The Hulk becomes stronger when he gets angrier, it doesn't have a lot to do with recieving wounds but that is not the idea behind the Hulk as a superhero anyway.

I quite enjoyed the trailer but I do get where you are coming from. Hawke seems to be a bit over the top, but it could work if the context is right.

Maybe they mean "men" in general...like "the race of Men" doesn't mean just men, but also women.

No matter how they meant it, it comes of as extremely exclusionary, and heavily implies that Hawke is a MAN, will always be a MAN.

Tenyochan wrote...

hmmm... 'people' sounds like speaker is referring to more than one. there trying to describe one awesome.

i don't mind they use 'men' the context makes sense.

"Men" is also plural, that's how that grammatical construction works. If it were singular they'd use "man/woman/person." From context you would know that the person in question is Hawke, not some of the other random companions he picks up who presumably will also help shape the world but are not important enough to get significant trailer time.

Honestly if I didn't know better, I'd assume that you can only play as a man in DA2. (Or ME, for that matter.)

Good trailer, worse than the original though.

Why? Too little full plate.

Nice comparison.

Anyone screencapped the other golem in the montage bit yet? It is there for a flicker, and looks like a giant OTT Shale with a huge glowing core. It's intercut with the Flemeth stuff. Considering we already have a bronze warrior come to life and what looks like a flesh golem, it looks to me like there will be a lot of animated statues in this game.

Oh and the Templars battle surely ties into the civil war, so my first thought was mages in general rather than a dragon cult or anything else. However it does seem like you can make out a pair of wings to the left of one of the screencaps so maybe a cult or Flemeth is connected.

You could just say there are THOSE who struggle against destiny; there are THOSE who embrace destiny.

It isn't hard to be gender neutral, and honestly, you don't even need to have a female PC option to aim for that sort of inclusiveness. It's not a big deal to do it.
