I have a question...if he is so powerfull why didn't use this tearin' apart spell in the first place?! ;)

This is a major flaw in all sci-fantasy fiction.  It was the first thing I tought as well.  True Blood has this problem in spades, as all the Vamps in true blood are ridiculously over powered.  Think - The Flash + Wolverine  ... and that's the normal Vamps.  "Powerful" Vamps in TB are -The Flash + Wolverine + Wonder Woman + Dr. Strange etc...

Why would Darth Vader need a death star when he could just obliterate entire planets w/ his force pinch?  We just have to pretend the rules are consistent I guess.  But it's definitely not a DA specific issue :wizard:

Amazing looking trailer but no gameplay but still good.

Well, you can see some gameplay here - but for me it doesn't look good. Specially the interface. Too "console" for my taste. Wished they tried and used a console to make the console games instead of computers where the game will suck badly.

That's the console version, so of course it looks like that, and I wouldn't call that gameplay either, it's just a test build. DAO had different interfaces on the PC and consoles, and if you read the IGN preview they say that the PC interface is largely unchanged in DA2.

I'm not sure what you mean with your last sentence. All console games are made on computers, since it isn't possible otherwise.

I haven't played Bayonetta, but doesn't she have an attack where she summons a giant version of her own heel? I hate to point out such a similarity, but there it is.

But imagine the epic Falcon Punches you could pull off with a trick like that.

Yes, among many other painful ways to kill someone.

Ahh absurd fetish games, no wonder the JPN game market is in crisis.  I'll never understand foot fetish d00ds.

I actually think that's awesome ^_^

I mean, are people doing this on purpose?  Saying "bad ass - awesome - the new sh**" and cheering for evil clown designs?  I can't tell if this is a forum for a videogame about killing dragons or a bad youtube channel showing fat midwesterners in clown makeup pretending to wrestle and rap. :innocent:

Me too.  The Slayer from BG2 could probably fall under that trope, though it isn't listed there. Plus, the Spirit Eater mechanic from NWN2 MotB. I wouldn't be surprised if something similar turned up in DA2.

I didn't realize "awesome" was a taboo word <_<

I didn't like the "violence" trailer at all and abhor most rap

I like that the armor makes me think "evil clown" rather than "generic armor" as much of DA:O's did

The smiley at the end confuses me with your intent so I'll simple tilt my head at you rather than rally an insult

That trailer made me look forward to my Warden and Zevran kicking Hawke's *** when the time comes (DA3). I relish the prospect of said final confrontation!

Am I the only one who LOVES Hawke's default armor? Maybe it's because I'm Asian or maybe it's because I enjoy Final Fantasy games but I actually like the influences of East Asian armor and weaponry. *shrug*

No I like his armor too. I'm not the biggest FF fan in the world though (thought 7 and 8 were quite good), and the gauntlet/pauldron is a bit rediculous - although somewhat in line with what Gladiator's sometimes wore. However I really like the rest of the design, such as the furs and weapon.

I also like the armour. Loghain clanking around DAO in a vast metal suit always pushed at my suspension of disbelief. Even more than the elves, dwarves and magic did. Weird.

It´s the kind of armor you would wear in battle, Hawke´s is the kind of armor that would get you killed in a battle.

What i think about that?

Go at 7 Minutes into the video :P

I liked this trailer. The qunari look bad ass.

Well, that was very....whiz-bang maybe? *sigh* I think I'm just getting too grumpy and cynical these days. I like the shiny cgi trailers. They're sorta fun. But what do they really have to do with the actual game? I'm sure the in-game graphics are nothing like that. So I'm just not seeing the point of them any more.

Sorry. I adore DA. Honest I do. And it's not intended as a knock against the very fine work of the cgi artists.  I just am perturbed to realize I felt nothing at all when I watched this one.

Wow. That trailer was amazing, so much better then the Sacred Ashes one. :wizard: I'm really looking forward to Dragon Age 2, Hawke is a bad ass! (I know it's being overused, I just don't know what else to describe him as.) Great job BioWare.

ok....finally watched the trailer. It was awesome! for what it is.......

But then I remember how awesome the DAO cinematic trailers were.....and yet the actual was quite different ( in certain aspects ).

I will be extremely disappointed if that is the case with this. Namely:

1. The initial concept art, and this trailer, all feature that staff-sword, pole-arm/spear type weapon. Well, we sure as heck better be able to use that type of weapon in the game. Same with the cool looking armor in the trailer and concept art.

2. Also, perhaps this was done just for the trailer, but this Hawke was both a melee fighter and a spell-caster. I am one who is hoping for more "hybrid" specs or abilities in DA2. Like a warrior/rogue who can learn to cast spells. Or a mage who can engage is serious melee combat as a warrior or rogue.

The trailer shows a Hawke that can do that. Now, this could be somewhat misleading if in the actual game, we cannot create a character that can successfully combine melee fighting and spell-casting.

It's 100% my fault, I'm the one who should apologize!

that being said, as soon as I whined about "bad ass awesome kick assness" people immediatley post "bad ass" so it's like they are trying to get my goat.

The truth is, I don't have a goat, and I don't eat lamb.

I really enjoyed the trailer.  Much to my surprise, I really liked the gritty feel of the scene.  I hope this translate well to game play.  My only sadness is that I cannot romance the male Hawke. :(

Don't be sad! That's what fanfic is for. *shoves rough draft into her desk drawer*
