i remember the conversation about battle stances/etiquette and how the creators would like to involve them in the game...
and admittedly the trailer is awesome and looks very expensive, but i am still waiting on the gameplay graphics trailer... and the introduction of some of the silhouetted characters in the background...

is wiping blood on your nose going to be one of hawke's "let's duel" moves?
I put my faith in BioWare in this. Yeah, it's corny, but really the writers of this game probably have every detail planned out. This included.
There has to be a reason behind it.

I don't know about that.
There are a number of spells or abilities posessed by characters throughout various fantasy settings that rely on a character being close to death, or that increase in power the more injured someone is, or that cannot be used unless blood has been drawn, or whatever. Not exactly unprecedented, and certainly not necessarily some sort of logical flaw.
It's a trope, see the link the other guy provided.
Tropes by definition are not flaws, but IMO the "OMG power so great but saving it for a visceral dramatic big monent" is a flaw.
How do you know it's that trope, though? You say that with such authority.
I looked at the link, but I hate that stupid trope site, and this is one examply why. Everybody reduces things to tropes just because it is easy, even if they don't really fit. We don't have ANY information about what he was doing or even if it will be included in the game, but somebody has already slapped it with a catchall trope label, as if they could definitively say that they were using some staid movie plot device just by watching a teaser trailer.
The examples I gave are different than the description of the trope, but are accepted and perfectly logical mechanics used in many fantasy settings. There is no less reason to think that it has something to do with one of those ideas and not that stupid trope.
Besides, how is saving a powerful but draining ability until a dramatic moment a flaw? I do it all the time when I play RPGs, not for drama, but because it makes good sense. Don't waste your big ammo on people you don't have to.

If this really is the b*stard child of those games, is that a bad thing?

Some people here hate ME, some like it but want DA games to be as "distinct" from BW's other games as possible. At least, that's the impression I've gotten.
I'm not in the "Mass Effect is the bane of all that is good" camp, myself. I really loved those games, and at the same time, I'm not getting the impression that DA2 will be a clone of them, either.

For the record, I only offered that trope as a possible explanation for why he waited to use his power, as an alternative to simply "doing it for dramatic effect." I never said "this is what it is, period, end of story."

You do know that ogres come from qunari right. Plus they're not meant to look human, thats the idea.

Great cinematic.. wonder who that horned demon guy is, probably some monster 5 levels higher than Hawke which is why he needed to go into godmode to kill it.
That's a Qunari. :|

Although I'm not sure about Hawe's hand burning the Qunari in the face and the finishing god move, makes hawke kinda like a hybrid magic/melee user, like death knights in WoW, not like that was the first ever magic / melee class or if it matters. It does look wicked fun.
Very cool teasy trailer, looking forward to the end product.
