It was an entertaining trailer, not gameplay, think of it like a movie trailer. Possibly the best parts, or the not best parts(depending on your personal opinion). I myself thought it was pretty damned cool. I don't want to really compare it to Sacred Ashes or Wardens Calling, because they were both well done and AWSOME.. and frankly I am out of intelligent adjectives this A.M.
I really enjoyed seeking Hawke in action, and especially hearing from Flemeth, I read the Stolen Throne, and had always thought that she was an important character, regardles of how we may have dealt with her in DA:O. Do people, try to enjoy it for what it is entertainment! And now please don't flame me to bad... hides around the corner....

I hope we can turn Hawke into a Grey
Warden.
Though, he wouldn't be as great as mine though. ../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png
I don't want Hawke to be a Grey Warden. That was the protagonist's identity in the first game and BioWare is a better company than to just copy pasta the same shtick over. Besides, we never really got any neato, tangible benefits from being a Warden unless you bought the Warden's Keep DLC. Otherwise, it was just a title.
It wouldn't be wrong to have a choice, whether we want to become a Grey Warden, a Templar, a Circle Mage, Apostate Mage, Maleficarum, etc.
I hope it would be something more than going around doing jobs for them, though.

People are saying this has a Mass Effect quality to it.
If this really is the b*stard child of those games, is that a bad thing?
That depends if its ME1 or ME2, the former makes me say no, the latter makes me say yes.

Is anyone else underwhelmed by the video with Hawke? The fight was 'nice', but not all that exciting (to me at least).
You're not alone. I believe that the camera work and editing was part of the blame though. Excessive fading transitions and slowmo really downplayed the effects of those techniques, while the changes in camera angles were a bit extreme. It has Michael Bay written all over it.

Its the same cave ! Not that.. its important.. probably
Good catch! Could just be re-use of assets though, there was never a particularly important cave full of Darkspawn in the Deep Roads in Origins afterall. The closest think I can think of is the Dead Trenches.

Well...no...I've seen Michael Bay and that was not him. Still, it wasn't that exciting. It was interesting, and we learned some new things, but it didn't get me hyped or anything.

Exactly--I think they were just lazy, same way they seemed to have reused Morrigan's SA model for the Morriclone army.
It's interesting, but we never went there as the Warden.

That was a lot of stuff they tried to cram into 2:03, of which almost 30s was taken up by the Dragon Age logo/narration/transitions. Extending the playtime couldn't have hurt. The Sacred Ashes trailer was nearly twice that long, but more seamless in covering the action - though it had some ridiculous stunts.

its recycle I think since the warden has a very very long bridge infront of him....while the flashback is all ground.

Because the Destiny trailer is full-length, and that's just a generic teaser. I wouldn't call it the DA2 trailer, however.

In the flashback is in first person while the other one is in 3rd person. Thus in the flahback you see it from a hiher place. But still, not a good explanation.Arrtis wrote...

Perhaps in the flashback Hawke visits the place at a different time, when the bridge was not built yet, or it was destroyed? lol I dunno, but I don't believe it is recycled. I think they put it there itnentionally. Too many similarities.
Another idea occured to me. Perhaps since it's a flashback we see it from Hawke's perspective and basically from his memories. Perhaps he doesn't remember the bridge! lol

Flemeth's lines about "there are those men" could have easily added "and women" to that. Or if she (Kate Mulgrew) was getting paid by the word, simply "those" would suffice. That way, those of us who enjoy playing strong female character roles would not feel (like what Mass Effect 2 did) that the Lady Hawke is more or less an afterthought.

That was one of the most disappointing trailers I have ever seen. You seriously couldn't have shown the guy being ripped in half? You cut away and just have the sound? Seriously lame.
Also, I'm sick of seeing that guy's face. This is a game where we're supposed to make our own character to play as but we're constantly blasted with that guy's face. How about making him wear a helmet?
Because that's not seriously unnecessary. Right up there with Marilyn Manson THIS IS THE NEW ****.
The way Malcolm always wore a helmet? It's a marketing technique, and a very valid one.
The problem was that the rest of the trailer was boring as hell. It's not that I'm some sicko that wants to see blood and gore... it's just that it might have actually made the trailer half way worth watching. I wont even watch the Saw movies because of the all the gore (I watched the first couple.. nuff for me).
I seriously do hope that they start putting a helmet on him though.
Well thats the default face...until we see (hopefully) super hot badass fem Hawke.

The proof is in the pudding. Many people here love cinematic trailers and are licking up the "bad ass awesomeness" and don't care that it's not gameplay nor what gameplay will look like.
