Is that what bioware is becoming? More action and less RPG. Come on people this is a Mass Effect in the dragon age world. There should be role playing, character creation. Bioware is just ruining the game right now. Making only human playable is just a way to evade hiring more voice actors.

Goshdarnit you're right! Making a fully-voiced protagonist is just a ploy to hire less voice actors!

wow, trailer was nice, though i didn't in any way recognise any dragon age in it.

that's exactly what I was thinking.  The trailer was really cool but not for DA.  If I saw the trailer on it's own and didn't know it had anything to do with DA then I'd probably get the game, but since I know its SUPPOSED to be a sequel for DA I'm really dissapointed.  I was really hoping we could carry on our character, too, like in ME.  I think this game is going to ruin the whole DA for me.  Dissapointment all the way.

FANTASTIC cinematic trailer. I just hope to god that they don't rob us of the awesome glowy eyes in the game itself, this time! I WANT THOSE GLOWY EYES DAMMIT! I'm starting to wonder whether or not Hawke IS a "mage" regardless of class, and it's simply a question as to whether he chooses to go down the "arcane warrior"/"arcane rogue"/"arcane mage" route.

Well it's already been confirmed by numerous sources that the original base classes return, and specialisations have been confirmed as well. I can't see Bioware not mentioning a little tid bit like 'you are always a mage regardless of your choice' to be honest.

More likely default Garrett Hawke is a blood mage/arcane warrior and Swordstaff's are in the game to encourage that style of gameplay more.

VERY very cheesy.

A more down to earth style would have suited DA better. You know, badassery and seriousness don't necessarily have to go against each other.

They could give Hawke magical powers regardless of his class.  They did that in BG.

That might make DA2 a "chosen one" plot, and I think they've told us they're not doing that.

Yeah that's the other possibility true, if it were to happen it would no doubt involve Flemeth as well. Perhaps something similar to how you unlock the reaver spec in Origins.

However it just strikes me as being unlikely for the reason you state above, and also because it would seem a shame to me, to take away the option of being completely un-magical. I guess it's not definitive yet though.

well in awakening you already got spirit warrior, making deals with spirits of the fade without being a mage. They open new ways to use magic without being a mage.

True, but that was an optional specialisation. Making Hawke 'part mage' from the start would be much more restrictive.

I don't think they will make hawke part mage from the start. It's just many people is over-excited by the trailer and they want to play exactly as trailer hawke did, appearance wise and combat wise

Well warriors can have some magic as well, even in DAO 1 as a templar you got some stuff. Darkspawn taint/demons or maybe Flemeth/ dragon blood, there are many sources which could explain some magic usage to non mage classes, so thats the least of my concerns(actually the blade in the trailer is burning itself, so the weapon might explain the flame wave and the hands rae surely some dark magic).

Many people are whining about not being able to roll other races, seriously who cares? HUMANS are superior, mainly if you consider that elves are useless slaves or nomads. Dwarves are of course cool, but a companion like Oghren would cover that as well.

Im more worried about the game itself, Awakening was a big dissapointment. It started well and i really liked some parts of it (Like you were a baron, dealing with peasants, got a castle and you werent treated like some wretched bandit), but taking away the party camp and random talks/teases WAS A REALLY REALLY BAD MOVE, not to mention the game ended in the middle of the action, i mean i felt so dissapointed when it ended, it was way too short.

One more thing, we want to get our fancy epic items from BOSSES or quest chains, craftable stuff, its quite annoying that peasant vendors had legendary weapons while dragons or ancient guardians didnt drop any valuable items

that's interesting.

Templar talents like holy smite are not magic.
What the hell are they then?

I havn't read the codex in quite a while but I remember them being described as magic abilities. It's brought on by the lirium the Templar's take or something like that. I think it even comes up when talking to Alistair. I'll have a look at the wiki to see if I can back any of this up.

I'd love to know more about it, since Alistair said you don't even need lyrium to do templar tricks

keep in mind that awakening was only an expansion pack it was not an actual game, that aside it had to cover some ground that tied the books together to which i think they story line though without playful banter needed to be a part of the ongoing story.

This trailer gave me the sense that Hawke was designed with more than one type of person in mind. He's attractive, but in a way that I think fans of both genders can respect. (And if the Garrett Hawke fan club is any indication, seduction plans are already in order--I expect sales of Nutella to make a sharp leap upward in the near future! *giggles*) The music was great--no more contemporary, distracting rock, just something awesome and fitting that tickles those "ancient legend" chords for me. The whole thing was stunning and memorable, if only for the flashbacks and Hawke's versatile fighting style and the intriguing look of the qunari. This is the advertising campaign I was hoping for! It reminds me of the DAO trailers a bit, but the choices made were all solid, so nothing spoiled the effect. Very nice CGI teaser; it whets the appetite.

Also, Kate Mulgrew is SO BADASS!!! Flemeth must never die. She must be in every DA game ever. Like the phoenix, you can kill her, but she always comes back... I revere that woman.

In the trailer he is like half warrior and half mage... just like a Vanguard in ME.

I was thinking more of a combination of arcane warrior and blood mage.

Yeah, me too. He wears full armor and wields a humongous staff-sword thing, but it shoots fire and he draws symbols on himself in blood... it looks kind of magey. I find that to be completely awesome. I wonder if the changes to the system will mean you can be a hybrid class. Regardless, I love that Hawke is more than just a straight fighter.

there
is that possibility, the graywarden website suggested she might be
isabella from the pearl because if you remember she did have a ship and
was sort of pirate like...also she could be a love from hawkes past,

That is SO not Isabela. Isabela had pale skin, pale eyes, and red hair--there's no way that a dark-eyed, dark-haired, caramel-skinned woman is going to be Isabela. Their features didn't even look similar. Besides, it would be a bit too coincidental. But I do love her piratey-ness. If Hawke has a female pirate LI, I am going to love it!

Of course, but since they've also said that they want to draw a much bigger distinction between the classes I was very, very surprised to see a Mage getting up close and personal, which is what led me down that line of thinking. In DA:O terms, that was definitely an Arcane Warrior/Blood Mage... in DA2 terms?

Maybe they're going to introduce multiclassing? :D

In any case, I'd be surprised to learn that every class was "magic" in some way... but it's not beyond the realms of possibility in my mind.

a horned Qunari?wtf

does that mean it's the qunari invasion that Sten hinted at in DA:O?

but who's that king?hope it's not Alistair(thankfully he doesn't look like him but who knows?)and this guy seems to combine both Mage And Warrior classes.

i truely hope that this game prove as good as this trailer showed...

are there dragons ivolved as well???

so many questions & no one to answer

It is.

@@ Spoiler Alert @@ if you don't want to know anymore.

IGN did a write up about the demo they played at Gamescon.
http://pc.ign.com/ar.../1113408p1.html and it had Flemeth in it.
