Those Flashbacks reveal MANY things, but you are so worried that Bioware is selling out to the console genre and so worried they have done BLAH BLAH BLAH!
I had no idea there even was a "console genre."Plus it makes NO SENSE in the Dragon age lore, that a human state should be governed by an Elf or Dwarf, it clashes with the lore ENTIRLEY...
Well...actually it doesn't--not entirely--when you consider that an elf or dwarf (or mage!) in DA:O can wind up becoming Arl of Amaranthine, Arl of Denerim, or even Teryn of Gwaren.
Of course there are complex reasons for that (for example, your saving the nation), but my point is you can't say it's impossible out of hand. There are probably other reasons for Hawke being human-only in DA2 besides the political power issue.
Lol, I wrote this very late at night sooo... you can figure it out from there
And as to the political power issue. No there could be TONES of reasons, but that was the only one I could think of at that time. I supposed a Dwarf could. But there is no way an elf would. If they are still treated like crap, I'm not sure they could be able to wield a weapon.

If that is the direction it is going then I'm worried that the series will lose it identity and appeal.
After reviewing the website regarding the game I stand by my comment. I'm not sure I will want a Witcher wannabe. I don't know about anyone else but I actually enjoyed the 4 character group. This is, I think, what has distinguished DA:O from Witcher and Obvlion.
One can only hope they change their minds, but I doubt it.

Q
Will the Dragon Age 2 story react to the decisions I made in Dragon Age: Origins?
A
Yes. If you import your Origins playthroughs, you will experience the consequences of the choices you made previously. However, this is not necessary to fully experience Dragon Age 2.

I loved the trailer it told me that Dragon Age 2 is going to be like Mass Effect.. which does bother me since I loved being a Elf in DA:O... Dragon Effect.... eh I hope its worth it and I noticed that the Release date ... thought the game was coming out like the slip in my Dragon Age box 2/1/11 something around there ... I wonder what Bio will release on the slip date... I hope not another auction those sucked!
BW missed an opportunity to kill 2 birds with one stone here, they should have made the main character a half elf. That would cover 2 races from the original and add to the depth of the DA universe. Instead they went with trite formula # one. I hope at least their will be a half elf party member...or any reffercenc at all to human and elf offspring.

Yes! As this is a rendered trailer, I doubt we'll get that kind of facial animation sophistication in game, though.marbatico wrote...
does anybody else notice that, when Hawkes eyes start to glow, you can see fear in the quanari's eyes? thats the only point in the trailer where he looks a bit human (by lack of a better word). in the other parts of the trailer he just looks like a raging bull to me.

Why would they do that? I thought the whole point of the DA Universe was to make a new and unique world? Why copy Forgotten realms lore if your trying to create a new one?

I thought Half-Elves technically didn't exist in Thedas because children born from human-elf relations turn out human?

So yes you are correct. There are no Half-Elfs in Dragon Age and Half-Dwarves are possible but rare and tend to turn out as a short human.

Already then it has been decided by some, on the basis of just this trailer, that DA 2 will be vastly superior to DA:O . Really ? It may well be but the trailer in and of itself doesn't suggest this in the slightest.....oh but its those red eyes isn't it ?
Also, it has been decided by others that in a direct comparison, this trailer outdoes the Sacred Ashes trailer. Subjectivity is a strange thing...again the red eyes.
For the record, blue glowing eyes are far more dangerous than red. Its the shorter, more damaging wavelength thats the killer.
As a trailer, its competent but ( leaving aside the flashback segment ) it says little other than "look here, two men duffing each other up". ( I wonder what demographic thats aimed at then ? ) So hardly anything upon which people can make such grand, sweeping statements about the game itself. Future trailers may be more revealing and have a little more narrative content.

Strange the effect one single trailer can have on people. Perhaps the varying reactions to it say a great deal about the gamers themselves.

Well the Qunari DOES tell you a little bit. There must some sort of link with the supposed "Invasion" Sten Mentioned.

That doesn't make sense, given how elves could be played in DA:O. And again, an elf PC can attain some political power in DA:O/DA:A as well.
I'm not one of the people who cares that you must be human in DA2 (I probably would have picked human anyway), I'm just pointing out that in this case, you're wrong.
