Half-elves don't exist in this setting.  The child of a human and an elf is a human.

After reviewing the website regarding the game I stand by my comment.  I'm not sure I will want a Witcher wannabe.  I don't know about anyone else but I actually enjoyed the 4 character group.  This is, I think, what has distinguished DA:O from Witcher and Obvlion.
One can only hope they change their minds, but I doubt it.

Umm, DA2 is still party-based with four characters.  As to your suggestion that DA2 is looking like Witcher 2...I have no idea what that even means.

So Canon Hawke is an Arcane Warrior and a Blood Mage and the guy he fought was a Templar... interesting BW. Nice to see a Mage with a real weapon.

It's not "canon Hawke," and everything else you stated is either speculation or most likely just plain wrong.  Qunari don't have Templars, for instance.

I wouldn't call it Blood Magic, or being an Arcane Warrior. I think it's a bit to simple for that, or just PLAIN Obviouse. Ofcourse it some sort of Magic/Warrior type. Or it's just powers Hawke has inherited in someway. Maybe he's an apostate himself.

In the trailer, Hawke is obviously a cyborg ninja working for the specters and is a master of biotics. That qunari was a member of the blood pack, protecting a shipment of red sand used to control elves that are still being enslaved in secret to fund a pyramid scheme to keep Justin Bieber making records.

Yeah....we can guess at anything at this point. I prefer my own ideas too.

Or they could have just been trying to make an exciting trailer. There was lots of stuff from Sacred Ashes that you couldn't do in game, such as making your eyes burn/glow, kicking darkspawn off cliffs, firing arrows while running, taking cover behind and/or leaping onto objects, performing astounding feats of gymnastic skill, etc. Plus Sacred Ashes had 4 people to show a bunch of different things, while Destiny only has Hawke to carry the load himself. So naturally they have to show him doing a wide range of things.

I've already heard the "hands pulling someone apart" was a mage finishing move, so he doesn't need to be some kind of freaky hybrid to do that.

And in any case, there's no "canon Hawke," so what class/specialization the Hawke in the trailer is is irrelevant. It doesn't mean anything. It certainly doesn't mean we'll necessarily get to do any of the things Hawke does in the trailer. Their first priority is (and should be) to make a trailer that looks cool, whatever the reality ends up being.

Cool trailer, even if it's just CGI and not actual scenes from the game.

Has anyone else wondered why Hawke is dragging the tip of his weapon on the ground before engaging the Qunari? Image IPB    I've tried to come up with an answer, but I'm still baffled by it. I doubt that he does this because it's heavy, since you see him twirling it about with one hand a few seconds later. Perhaps it's a new last minute sharpening technique...Image IPB

Hawke apparently doesn't know much about combat in this cutscene, dragging his weapon and not monopolizing on huge opportunities to strike the qunari. The jumping, defenseless overhead swing attack is hilarious too, he should of died there in numerous ways. I guess that's why the qunari paces and also doesn't finish him when Hawke is cut and lying on the ground, giving him ample time to climb to his feet, emo-cut himself and do some blood magic. It's kind of a rediculous fight scene but it's still alot more plausible than the fight sequence in Sacred Ashes. I was kind of expecting Hawke to use the Flying-Butt-Pliars move used in an episode of Ren And Stimpy many years ago (you had to see it).

I feel that it's a bit ironic since Bioware has been going on about the fact that they have 'improved' combat; everyone is supposed to execute moves quicker, etc. Well, everyone save the enemy apparently.

Hmm. Can we get a direct download link for this, too?

Other than a longer shot (which showed more bodies) as the Qunari approached (was that bit new?), and the lightning bolt from the sword-staff, what else was new?

Right click & Save As.

p.s might not work on the bioware board. Either way there is a d/l option on the gametrailer page.

Oh, I know, but I'd prefer if Bioware offered the links, like they did for the first version of the first trailer. (the quality, I think, was better, even if it was the smaller 135 MB version)

Is there any way to obtain the music used in the trailer? The full song i mean, it's damn epic.

Gametrailers did a pop-block on the extended trailer, where they pause during the video and reveal various information about stuff you see in the trailer and speculate. It's nothing major and i dunno how accurate they are.

Hope they use it in the game and release it as part of the OST. :)

Epic stuff. Made me want to play DA again. :D

That's a matter of perspective.  After long exposure to D&D mechanics, a distinct lack of half-elves seems fresh and new.

And that's coming from someone who loves D&D and half-elves.  I just don't think half-elves need to be in every setting that has elves.

But dwarves and humans do? It dosent really have anything to do with the elves persay, rather the lack of hybrid offspring.  Please dont deffend it since its only about whats easier for BW.   Its just easier not to have to work it into the universe, so they dont...same with the asari only producing asari offspring, not that i preffer it the other way around, but its still  just easier to do and is likely the main reason for doing so.

No.  But that's how BW chose to craft their setting.  It's their world, we just play in it (and no one is forced to play in it, of course).

You're free to believe that, but it sounds like a supposition that is impossible to prove.

Half-elves have never been terribly realistic anyway, from a strictly real world biological point of view. But the idea that a human and an elf can mate and have human offspring is even MORE unrealistic.

Anyway, my attention was drawn to the trailer by the pop-block thingy. I must say I'm terribly disappointed, but not surprised that the "default" Hawke seems, once again, to the the male Hawke. The trailer does not give any indication that the player can chose otherwise (and that's especially true of the pop-up speculation version of the trailer - couldn't they have had a pop up stating that Hawke can be female? Honestly), which would definitely turn off some players.

I'm currently considering not buying further BioWare products as a protest. (I'll miss out on the Liara addon for ME2 and SWTOR, both of which I've been looking forward to. *sigh* Why do you make me want to hurt myself to punish you, Bioware, why?)
