P.S. Lamo trailer, somebody fire somebody on the DA team specially on the concept and design management. Hire John Woo that would be much cheaper or kidnap the Warhammer team. Still buying the game for my BW collection but am still not happy with what BW has become.

Heh, apparently, according to Mike Laidlaw on the most recent podcast, one of the primary points of that trailer, the reason it was made that way, is that "...this the degree of  "bad assery" you should feel and summon" about Hawke, ( his exact words ) with the beard being part of that...( cliche )

Doesn't work for me either, I first and foremost don't want to be told how I should feel about a character I'm supposed to role play, ( and I'm also left thinking as a trailer its somewhat cliched and formulaic in style, I mean its passe now to have beards play that role ! ) but well it seems to impress some people.

From the technical standpoint, the trailer is pure gold. Better then Blizzard cinematics (YES, IT IS! SHOWE IT, FANBOYS!)

Fight was nice, especially liked the hair and facial expressions.

Lacks the "party" feel of the Sacred Ashes, but still...9/10.

I can only hope that future trailers will put the 'party' back in. After all, DA is meant to be a party orientated game, not a solo adventure.

( This in spite of braggers who post their DA Origins 'doing it solo' vid clips on Youtube....zzzzzzz. )

Its also an amusing piece of combat footage in which Hawke the Slayer, having this killer knock out punch in his arsenal ( rip man in half flame grip ) fails to use it until his back is against the wall. Terrible tactics Hawke, utterly shameful. Thats what badassery does to a person, it clouds judgement

Well the fight was going his way until the Qunari (oddly) stunned him. So he just got his own back by using magic to rip him in half.

That shouldn't be surprising given both Blizzard and BioWare outsourced it to the same company, and DA2 is the most recent Image IPB

Okay, seriously! I've watched that trailer now at least a dozen times and each time it gets better and better!

Can't wait for the real thing.

Hope there is a party still, no solo play please.

Does anyone know the name of the song that starts to play as Hawke enters the picture?

Would be awesome to use in various cinematics / Machinama.

Think the music in the Trailer is a mix of the music in the game :) and should imagine we will get to see party trailers as the companions get announced :wizard:

From reading the comments on the Youtube page for this trailer, I've gathered that either a) most DA players participated in Morrigan's dark ritual and they truly believe that Hawke is the god baby or B) they know that Hawke isn't the god child and they're just trying to be annoying. Seriously, most of the comments are "this has to be Morrigan's child!"

I've also read this many, many times in comments on this trailer or in general discussions about Dragon Age 2. And there are still a lot of people thinking, that the antagonist is either some kind of demon or even an archdemon. Even among those who liked Dragon Age, the Qunari redesign doesn't seem to be very widespread yet.

I liked the trailer, although after a few extra views, I agree that the fight scene between Hawke and the Qunari could have been choreographed better. However, I don't think the fight itself was intended to be between Hawke and a boss, just an upper-tier Qunari foot soldier. Barring that the Qunari in the trailer was taking damage purely for spiting Hawke, in a "You rammed your spear right through me. I'm still standing, fool..." kind of way- Hawke did look kind of inexperienced. That said, every hero has to start somewhere and somehow.

The flashes Hawke was seeing were interesting, but they did get a little too fast for my eyes to follow towards the end. I hope they don't do that in the game.

I don't remember which post I read this in, but I think the devs have stated that trailer Hawke wasn't actually a warrior--he was a mage (and he used blood magic). In DA2, mages can actually strike enemies with their staves if they are close enough.

It was actually Digic Pictures that made the trailer - with help from Blur.

Awesomeness of the video aside, I felt disturbed that they already painted Hawke as some kind of warrior Bloodmage, in DAO terms, a Reaver + Bloodmage. He seem to use far too much blood in his rituals. Might put off some people who are used to traditional heroes. While DAO is a dark realistic fantasy game, I still like to think of my hero, whether he is anti-hero or not, in heroic terms. Right now, they made him too bad ass, although for the sake of advertising, they certainly met their mark in creating an awesome trailer. Maybe their advertising for hybrid classes, spellcaster + swordfighting. If they do, they better come up with a better idea than Arcane Warrior, because that specialisation sucked.

And I disagree. John Woo is overrated. Correy Yuen, who is normally Jet Li's coreographer, does far better fight scenes.

Don't think he's the archdemon or former archdemon if you can believe Morrigan. For one thing, they say he is a survivor of the blight: meaning he was either a baby or child and living during the blight, long before your Warden boned Morrigan. Unless Morrigan gave birth to a baby before the death of the Archdemon (giving birth while fighting with the player across Denerim. lol).

About the Qunari part, I really wished they had done that with Sten in DAO. It just seems lame they retconned the Qunari to have horns, saying that Sten is different. Frankly I always wondered why Sten is considered a different species considering, apart from his size, he looks human. Now they realised its too hard to tell apart just by size, and so gave the Qunari horns. Also I thought the Qunari were more technologically adept, but instead the one we got in the trailer was just pure badass barbarian. Would be more logical if he tried to kill Hawke with a bigass cannon, musket or arbalest instead.

My burning question though, is whether the Darkspawn and Grey Wardens is still relevant to the storyline. thought?

Fair enough, although it's nothing new.  I noticed that a lot of the Mass Effect 2 preview videos emphasized Shepard performing Renegade actions rather than Paragon ones.

Going by the preview information, Hawke is an adult during the "escape from Lothering" section of the game.

Both are going to be in DA2, though we've been told that Grey Wardens are more on the sidelines this time.

Seriously ? The game is an instant buy based on... a trailer thats not even 'in game' footage !? ( and not too special a trailer either ) I know some people are easily convinced and well, that no doubt pleases Bioware
