I thought the qunari looked really awesome, but maybe a little too demon-like, I need some time to get used to the horns..
The quinari are now tieflings on steroids.
Deal with it.

why did the other forum discussing pretty much the exact same thing but with more people get closed?
Probably because most of it wasn't DA2-related, it was seventy-odd pages of comments mostly about other EA games.
No it got closed because this is the official Bioware-created forum about the trailer.

Shiny trailer, but I'm part of the community who prefers seeing gameplay vids. I found myself squeeing more at the snips of game screens at the background while Laidlaw was speaking.
lol speaking of that, Bethany had a diff skin show'n outfit on (i likes~!) and Hawke's iconic(too soon?) armor was missing, Varric also looked completely diffrent from his artwork (in a bad way, not a good way like Alistair)
If Biowar didn't do the trailer in house, the characters could all be based on real-world models/re-imaginings. Look at beard-Sten, for example.

They better include that awesome spell in-game, or i will be really pissed off lol.
Nice trailer, still, if thats a 'regular' qunari, they look too cool, prob. we won't see many in the game, otherwise they will lose their coolness.
It featured Hawke's jump in the air kill attack move from the in game pictures, the fight scenes most likely show modified things you will do in game like most modern CG trailers (take the assasin creed 2 ones for example), the flaming death hands i'd guarentee are in game as well

Hawke's armor in that shot looked like the bastard lovechild of Cailan's armor and a suit of samurai armor. I didn't really like it to be honest. Bethany's robe looked pretty cool, however.

Yeah, I was happier seeing the shot of Flemeth and Varric as in game models behind Laidlaw and Hawke and Bethany in different armor than the actual trailer
Oh Fudge I missed that because I put Mike on mute and looked away.

Also, Hawke is no Commander Shepard. He is ten thousand times more badass!!!!111
The qunari too
As for Varric (i'm 100% sure that was him in one of the screenshots preceding the trailer) - so far i'm not impressed. In concept arts he seemed like a sneaky rogue type, very agile, lithe even. On screenshot he looks like Jubba the HuttBioware, I am disappoint.
Yeah as the person responsible for the Varric thread I have to agree. I still think his personality sounds awesome but if he looks like a Hutt I'll love him like I love Oghren and not really so much as a romance option. Ah well, it's not too late to make him look like the concept art, guys!
Sorry... you can have the dwarf for yourself anytime you know... Im totally crushed by Hawke now. Yeah, Im such a floosie... lol

I tried googling and tried wikipedia but nothing came out that remotely resembles the weapon. To be fair, neither does a halbeard (har har). Pikes and Spears are used for stabbing, while Halberds are used for slashing. Even if it was a half-pike then Hawke is obviously using wrong:unsure:DaringMoosejaw wrote...

pikes are HUGE versions of the Spear but they are also a Polearm so you are close. Like I said, its a sword strapped on a pole for greater range. It's a Halbeard (har har u c wat i did thar?)DaringMoosejaw wrote...

It's called a Polearm to answer the general question. If you want the specific name (like there are longswords and greatswords) then it's a Halberd. A sword strapped to a spear. And let the HalBEARD jokes commence!Baiolit wrote...
Trailer was awesome, lots teasing, good narrating, cool fighting.
Btw what was Hawke's weapon, a sword? A spear? A sweard...
It's a pike! Probably a half-pike, since full pike were...very long.
Yes, yes I did. But no, I didn't make up 'Half-pike' by taking pike and putting half in front of it. Half-pikes are actually what that is, I'm pretty certain. Google it, looked like one to me.

Horned oponent who wields an axe, Hero wielding a (big) sword, the desperate dirty move to win..
Not that it's bad =p I was just like, wait a minute, that remeinds me of the NWN cinematic..

I'm worried that Hawke will suffer Sacred Ashes syndrome, where a dozen of abilities will be shown that aren't even close to anything in lore and only added for coolness.
I think Mike specifically mentioned the death hands thing as a mage finisher didn't he? Maybe in an interview or something.
