Yeah, I know we can't tell much from the trailer , but it just seemed to me like it was a flashback, perhaps to some past love interest we might not have control over.  They could still force a love interest if Hawke was female.

I don't think it's forced, in origins morrigan was kinda shown as an almost forced LI. in the Violence trailer she was only shown, no leliana.

Yeah but that's all still moot if you play female  She might be that one unavoidable NPC like Morrigan was but that doesn't necessarily force her as a love interest.

Probably got answered by now but most trailers advertised the Warden romancing Morrigan as well, this woman is probably just the female "face" of DA that they'll exploit for sex appeal.

In other news, I'm really interested in exactly how they're going to handle the companion system in this game, seeing as teh narrative extends over a 10-year period. They can't really do it like Origins where you all trumped around in your camp for a couple of years.

Personally I don't think it's Isabella, since this NPC looks tan and has longer hair, and Isabella was kind of pale with shoulder length hair, plus the clothing is different. At the very least, this new girl wears a lot of jewelery that Isabella didn't. Also, I always thought Isabella looked old and the trailer girl looks young.

Flemeth has smoother skin, better hair, and revealing clothing. Remember that the graphics are being updated

Well the faq says you can romance companions and others round the world or sumth'n (tae the 15 secs to read it people ) so no, not a forced romance

Still i'd say she's Antivan if i had to hazard a guess but i don't think it's Isabella, i do like the potential of pirates and the possibility of sea travel on boats (no airships, but hey can't have everything lol)

Still i was figure'n Hawke had a past relationship with Morrigan, both grew up in or around Lothering, they'd have to have met, i figured he broke her lil black heart and thus we got our beloved bitter bitc..err witch in Origins, still, i'd put money on the two of them knowing each other either way

What's interesting is it is hard to tell if Hawke doesn't want to let her go and she forces the issue because he grabs her arms when she tries to leave, making her threaten him with her weapon. Almost like "you can't follow me where I'm going but I have to go".

Seems the scene is actually reversed.

Also Isabella doesn't start fights, though she will finish them. Yes that part of the flashback is playing in reverse so she approaches Hawke with the sword drawn, he disarms her and then they kiss. So it can't be Isabella

My point, that seemed to have been lost somehow, was not to take everything in trailer literally as in "IT'S UNAVOIDABLE YOU MUST DO IT!!!!!". There's really no set anything in DA2 except for race, unless the Devs come out and say so. You choose your gender, hair style, eye color, job/role, LI, etc.

I get what you people are saying about Morrigan, really, she was setup to be the main LI for guys, but gues what? You weren't forced to take her, or even have her in your party. You could play Origins with her as little more than a footnote, and there's a good chance Hot Pirate Chick will be the same way, despite being prominent in the trailer.

Really why would they FORCE a romantic interest on you?

Yeah I get that.  I was only saying that in the trailer it looked like he was having a flashback of this love interest, like it happened outside of the game.  But I was forgetting the game takes place over 10 years, so it's pointless guessing about it really

Actually DAve, that wasn't lost on me, and it actually backups my point

the trailer is there to get you pumped for the game, not reveal every single miniscule detail. which i hardly doubt could be covered in under 3 minutes anyway
