"In Dragon Age 2 the combat system has been stripped of the clunkiness of the original and injected with more awesome."

I find this so obnoxious.

In original game it IS clunky. Sometimes character moves towards an enemy and start twitching in one place instead of attacking, or turning around VERY slowly. Looks retarded. These things are gone for good.

Now, the article, while very informative on plot and such leaves me a bit apprehensive of actual gameplay mechanics. For example, on leveling up:

For the most part, leveling up is similar to the first game. ... The ability tree is what the team focused on re-constructing
and it looks promising. Instead of linear progression, different types
of abilities are grouped together in a tree. For example all abilities
that involve using a two-handed weapon are bundled together and
abilities that require a one-handed weapon and a shield are grouped.

Now, the first part sounds like he was just describing the original game, as the different abilities were bundled up there as well. What is meant exactly by "linear progression" vs. a tree?

Abilities can also be built out further than before, as most active
abilities can be upgraded at least once.

This sounds like they have taken at least a nod from ME2 ability upgrades. Now that does not have to be a bad thing, but it is interesting, especially in light of the fact that my feeling was that ability points were rather scarce in DA:O compared to ME2. Not getting the "full amount" of bang per ability point buck might be counterproductive.

The camera description for PC also sounds underwhelming, but we have no need to go through that discussion again until we get a proper gameplay trailer.

EDIT: Old sentence that was partially left in removed.

I am interested in how it says the game will alter your greeting/good-bye based on your personality.....perhaps we will not say, "I should go" as much as Shepard does^_^

I think your mom is almost guaranteed to die. Moms never fair well in fantasy stories. I'm guessing either Avaline or Wesely won't make it either. If after escaping Lothering your next destination is Kirkwall someone with Templar connections would be the most valuable companion. Having Wesely or his wife along would make sense.

I think the final answer of who lives and who dies might surprise you. Might surprise everyone, in fact. Image IPB

ooh!  ooh! Hawke dies and his soul is infused with of an old god's via flemeth and becomes the demi-god that will rule the world!

Just a guess, but perhaps it means that you aren't forced to take the preceding talents just in order to get one of the higher level ones. For example, in DAO if you wanted Critical Strike you'd have to take Pommel Strike, Indomitable and Stunning Blows. Maybe in DA2 you could take Pommel Strike, Shattering Blows and Onslaught and still get Critical Strike, rather than being locked into one path.

After some banter Varric reveals that the Chantry, a church group that worships The Maker, is in ruins, the world is on the brink of war and the church needs Hawke to help reassemble the pieces.

If I can play my Hawke in such a way that I can be good but still dismantle the Chantry I will be very pleased :)

I pray (ironic hun) that we do get that option though  and are not forced to help them no matter what  (like say killing the Archdemon). The last thing I want to do is to have to rebuild the Chantry ... unless I can totally restructure it in the process ... or keep them under my thumb as the champion of Kirkwall :)

The term "more awesome" is something a Justin Bieber fan would use

Well, if that is the case, then that is an improvement. Having to waste ability points on for example, Flaming Weapons before you could get Fireball was brutal.

If Hawke does die and the timeline allows for it, I wonder if the baby your Warden from DA:O impregnates Morrigan with has it's soul ripped out and placed within Hawke.

This is a progression tree.  You start at a single ability and have branches of development, as opposed to skill-->skill-->skill-->skill and you're done.  It forces you to make long-term commitments to how you want to develop your character and is less pick-and-choose than DAO.

After reading the article my hype for this game has reached ME2/Oblivion Levels.
