ps: My Hawke will now woo everything that gets near him ('cept for Bethany and mama Hawke) and make followers lose approval even if that system is long gone.

Someone needs to ask Mike in the interview on Friday why they chose Aveline not to be romanceable.
Considering they all seem to like her so much

I thought it was obvious she wasn't going to be a love interest, especially with Isabela and Merrill revealed. But what do I know...
Was that comment really necessary? It's one thing to not like a LI option (note the word option), it's another to ridicule those who supported the option. Merrill hasn't obviously been confirmed as a LI and technically-speaking, neither has Isabela (though I'll let that assumption slide). I am disgusted by people actually CELEBRATING that a character is not an LI when LIs have always been OPTIONAL in the game. Have some damn respect for people who have different preferences than you.
You are reading so much into what I wrote. Nowhere did I insult anyone. Neither am I celebrating anything. I thought it was obvious because of BioWare's track record. The cutesy sweet woman and the sultry seductive woman.

It's called "Hoping Bioware would give us a LI outside the box."
This guy gets it.

SFX: And what are your favourite parts of the DA world?
Darrah: In DA2 I think the truth is that Aveline is now my favourite character, although I have told others it was Isabella. Hmm. In many ways Aveline is the toughest character we’ve ever written, she’s got iron in her soul! I like that uncompromising willingness to be a defender, to do what’s necessary to protect what she’s needs to protect. She is not a romance option for the player but there are things with her later… she can come out of her shell to some degree…! That’s one advantage of the passage of time. By the end of the game her husband’s been dead for 10 years.
Ok so Aveline isn't a LI, sad day and all that...but that doesn't mean she isn't still awesome! And if someone isn't her fan any longer because of this they didn't really like her in the first place! I have a feeling no fair-weather fans shall be welcome here, which is as it should be.
Aveline definately seems like she is going to be a tough nut to crack. Several devs have mentioned her as a favorite character of theirs so I just have a feeling that her character arc isn't going to be something as simple as "gradually warms up to the PC" because that's very generic. I just have a feelng that there is going to be an additional hook or twist that comes into play.

Oh I assure you I still worship the ground she walks on...as do most of the gentlemen in here from what I can tell. Sure this was a blow to the gut but it changes nothing...it's not like I'm going to go cancel my pre-order or anything lol. I can't wait to get to see her quest...and indeed...by Darrah's description..she seems like the Samara type...you get close...but not yet.makenzieshepard wrote...

So maybe no full blown romance...but what about friends with benefits? Any chance of reaching that level with Aveline?

I know right? that skinny twig of a man wins even in death....just think of this way...if romance ever becomes an option...imagine her devotion to you, since your alive instead of dead...she would make sure she defends Hawke or die trying...the kind of woman who refuses to make the same mistake twice. That theres no way you can come to harm so long as she draws breath.BigOzzie wrote...
