How would you guys feel if she's a non-romance but there's no sex and only in the ending / epilogue she acknowledges you? The entire relationship is courting or something.

Going only for the chase, huh? I think it would feel like a build up with no climax, but that's just me. I don't mind her not being a romance option.

Seeing that you are a BioWare writer and that you have brought us so many good stories to this day, I respect your work and I pressume that the choices made by the development and writing team were all made for a reason.

Firstly, I am disappointed. Aveline represented a different approach in terms of a BioWare romance and her story had a lot of potential if it really came down to such a subplot.

Secondly, I also blame myself a little. During the time when people were asking for a female elf LI, I voiced my support because I mostly wanted something else than Isabella. That was before you showed Aveline of course, but I will say this: God works in mysterious ways.

My pain passed as quickly as it came, because in truth my hopes for something this different were 70-30% at least. So, I didn't fully believe that you guys would actually go through with it, it's your game of course and like I've mentioned above, you guys never do something without having a reason behind you.

We all know that all the characters have their own role to play in Hawke's life, so I'm guessing Aveline's future can't be beside the Champion. I'll accept that. It's way too early for me to criticise the game itself, but I will say this: I hope that in the future you guys will change things up a bit, as in really making a LI that has some meaning.

Not that it matters anyway, I will still buy your games and enjoy the story.

Oddly enough...I'm okay with this development. At risk of sounding sheep-like, I trust Bioware and I know Aveline will be interesting whether I get to sleep with her or not.

And when you think about it...a lot of the most interesting relationships happen when you're not constantly tip-toeing around their feelings to get them to like you. I had a lot more fun with Alistair my second play through when I played as a man and could actually bring myself to make fun of him. The LIs that have been revealed or heavily implied (male and female) feel highly compelling to me, and I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun with 'em.

I'll admit it, I could find things to like about even the most reprehensible characters in Origins. I played as a human noble my first game, and I was left not with overwhelming hatred of Arl Howe, but I found him to be a very compelling character, made even more interesting with deeper analysis. Being open-minded about possibilities and characters will reduce stress and deepen enjoyment. :3

I know man I know...I feel your pain believe me...but theres no reason to take it out on Wesley. He didn't do anything to deserve it...at least not yet. But don't give up hope...I have a strong feeling we'll be Hawke in DA3...so I feel that if we are all the true fans that I know we are...we'll be patient and it will be rewarded in DA3....I REFUSE to let my hope die...I REFUSE!!!!

Sebastian will definitely NOT be an LI due to his status of being a DLC character

Aw...I was disappointed when I heard she's not going to be a love interest. I sort of expected it, though; after all, she'd lost her husband. But, even if she isn't, that doesn't mean I can't have fantasies, and in Origins, not all of my characters romanced much.

At 1am I have no proper or appropriate comment to that last line, so I shall be brief to maintain my lady-like allure  ...  :innocent:

It seems fair to say, that if Aveline is written half as well as this paragraph addressing this thread, I highly doubt anyone will be disappointed with her story.  

I may even like Aveline more now, believe it or not. (although if you read the quote I keep tucked safely in my sig, you can tell I have a bit of an attraction to similar sentiments in general.  Bit of a masochist I suppose.   Not accidental foreshadowing, honest!   )  

Sometimes, it is the things you don't do...what doesn't come easily...what you only wished you had that keeps that magical grip on you (that from so many romances are terribly quick to fade once the pursuit is over).    Maybe it is exhaustion speaking,  but... I actually think that this may be a GOOD thing for Aveline...and may be why she ended up a developer favorite. She had no "romantic motive" to fulfill and so her character itself stands strong....probably a lot like the woman would be, were she real...

We should be more like salarians and process these situations faster.

After all, in DAO, even though my Warden romanced Leliana, she wasn't my favorite character. Sten was.
In the end, liking a character doesn't necessarily mean you have to romance him/her.

And yes. Even if I don't have my LI, I will always have my fantasies. Some of them being Aveline totally dominating M!Hawke. And, depending on the circumstances, one of my M!Hawkes might have a fantasy of his own about her, depending.



Looking forward to seeing Aveline and the rest of DA2 regardless...Feb 22 and March 8 need to get here sooner. Dx

A fair point...although to me Aveline seems like a woman whos tough on the outside but is just another woman inside.

Meh, I've seen weirder things happen. The main problem will be if the world will still be at war when Varric finishes his story. But I think there will be another character who handles that situation =P

She is not a romance option for the player but there are things with her later…

I guess I'm in the minority as far as finding this disappointing news. Even though I thought she'd look good with male Hawke this part of the reply, and everything after it, just has me more intrigued. If the last line is any indication, she will eventually show signs of moving on from Wesley just not with Hawke. Frankly, I think I'll find romances, that don't involve the PC, more interesting to watch unfold if only because of the way Origins handled it.

If Cassandra is THAT desperate to find Hawke...I'm pretty sure we'll be him at least one more time. Which is perfectly fine with me. I have no problem with having the same PC in as many games as needed to tell that certin story...I think having a different character EVERY damn game might make all the characters feel not fully realized. But thats me...as many games as it takes...thats my motto.
