Yes, there was RP reason, but in RP companions are not your puppets. In games they are because it is the best way to make the player feel good.

Back on topic. What did you think of Aveline's expression when Isabela told she freed slaves and asked her 'Not what you'd expect, guard?'. I felt a bit disappointed that Aveline didn't say anything (we need to hear more of her beautiful voice!) but that was a nice bit of characterisation!

I was disappointed too. Seemed like a perfect time for some banter.

Perhaps Aveline has high moral standards - she didn't expect a pirate to be anything more than an amoral hedonist, maybe.

Yeah, Aveline kicked some major ass!

I think it really shows, though, that Aveline is not narrow-minded. Or at least she is open to seeing if she was wrong about someone, and she can admit her mistakes. The fact that she looked distraught and did not get defensive - she couldn't even say anything - says a lot: she feels guilty for being prejudiced about Isabela.

Kind of hard to judge Sten since he's from a completely alien culture. A person know what's right and what's wrong because that's what he's taught by the world in which he grows up. So our right and wrong will be different from Sten's right and wrong because he didn't have our upbringing. So we disagree with him but I don't think he can be called unreasonable. He is actually the definition of reasonable, but his reason is different from our reason.



And lol that guy will totally be reporting you for 'cowardly' calling him a douchebag when he see your comment.



By the way, do we know anything about what Wesley's like? His character, dialogue?

Wesley is a templar. I imagine that may have influenced Aveline's philosophy on things. Perhaps the fact that her pious templar husband had died contributed to her realist view of things.

1)He volunteered to make the world a better and safer place for Aveline and the rest of the people.
2)Being
a knight before being a templar, he might have seen or heard something
he shouldn't have and so his reason to join would be kinda similar to
Alistair's.
3)He hates mages for x,y and z so he becomes a templar.
4)I ran out of ideas so he becomes a templar.

But he seems clever (as in not hating mages that much) as he agrees to a "truce" or something like that until they reach Kirkwall...

What I don't expect her to do anyway is to wear some kind of mask and stalk/hide in bushes yelling one liner insults to people. Can't even imagine her reading forums in Internet and posting one liner insults with no other content to the forums, something what requires even less courage.



Anyway Aveline is not a jerk, and she is at the moment perma warrior in my team if I don't roll a warrior. She will be protecting Anders, and I will listen them chatting. If she can't stand mages or Anders then she will be replaced. Dunno though if I let her figure out that mages are people.

I have to say...she makes a S&S warrior look REALLY exciteing...I typicaly play S&S warriors anyway but she makes it really hard to resist. Since I was planing to make a two handed warrior after seeing Aveline and Carver in action in that video. But hot damn I just can't decide!

That'd be awesome for boss fights or for endless waves of mobs. Taunt, SSSB, mages and archers finish them off.
