I was hoping he was trying to grasp at whatever sense of order and normalcy he could find in a chaotic time.  Your explanation makes him seem more like a zealot .  At least his awesome wife talks some sense into him.

Ahem. Mr. Kristjanson, is Emma Fielding the VA for Aveline? She's my best guess for now. It came to me when I heard her line, "Quickly, before they regroup. We must press towards the wilds."

Interesting… I've been searching around for VAs that sound like Aveline this afternoon and I completely forgot about Emma Fielding.  Aveline does sound a lot like her.

I do see that he is aware first hand of how dangeorus mages can be but my "Bethany is my little sister" RP mode got activated so please, do not mind my anti-Wesley rant. And It's not that difficult to see what's more dangerous between a horde and an apostate (And even more an apostate with a Merlin-like hat)
Also, I would never dream of suggesting that. Aveline must have chosen him for a very good reason which I'd never dare to debate. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/joyful.png[/smilie] (I made some speculation about how they met/how'd she fall in love with him some pages back, trying to be as comprenhensive as possible so I'd avoid any bias )

She hasn't chosen her mate poorly.  She can love him for all his faults.  We just know who has all the brains in the relationship.

I know I defended Wesley even earlier but the third video uploaded to you tube gives him a few more points in my eyes. It was touching how he commended Bethany to the side of the Maker when she got ogre squished. Heck he's a hell of a lot more sensitive than Aveline is about the situation *engages flame shield*

Who's thinking Wesley never actually dies? He just gets captured by pirates, then after working as the cabin boy for a time, the pirate captain has him assume the captain's identity.

This. To me, he sounded like he wasn't really all there when he was saying 'the order dictates'; maybe he was going into shock from his wound - it looked to me like it might have hit a kidney; something in the gut, anyway; no good places to get stabbed in there, so maybe he was starting to flake out a bit, saw mage, reacted on the trained instincts of a templar. Think about it; when you're ill, or tired out of your head, you tend to fall back on habits; for him, that'd be the templar doctrine and training, which, I'm guessing, mostly involves mages; why they are dangerous, and apostates: why they must die, with a side order of how best to do that.

Plus, in the sarky Hawke vid, Hawke saying something about how terrible the templars' wrath is, and he says "More so their wives'." He clearly knows who's in charge.

I didn't really notice much insensitivity from Aveline, but that could be from the overwhelming doucheness that came from Hawke.

I noticed them. In my opinion they are the bonuses that you can unlock for companions after you max out friendship or rivarly.

Says a lot when a writer will speak up to defend his characters even if it is half in jest, also makes me think that the rose of orlais' past may not be quiet in the ten years that Aveline and Hawke spend in Kirkwall.
