The Sentinel gate gapes wide, the whale road has once more brought the woundweaver home.

Tyrs chosen stands tall upon the decks of the foam follower, a proud salute raised to his home and hearth.

With Danes fierce children he has slaked his thirst and forged a bane of blades, but other tasks delayed his return.

In his hand grasped tighter than gold an eternal band of silver, upon it a message scribed by a sword of the chantry to his woman and wife.

The rose of the kirk awaits him upon the high cliffs and knows not that he carries a piece of her heart, a simple gift forgotten in the ashes of a home long gone.

Women don't usually talk about their age. Now Aveline... she would probably kill Hawke if he would ask :P

The outcome being what it is, Hawke's real decision is whether or not Aveline seems like the kind of person who wants decisions made for her. It certainly sounds like it will help define your character and illustrate hers.

Oh dear... I recall how well that worked out last time.

Alistiar: *pouty face*
C. Cousland: Take some pride in yourself. Don't let others push you around!
*five months later*
Alistiar: But I don't want to be kin--
C. Cousland: Shut up and get your butt on the throne. Also, this blonde ice queen? Now she's your wife.

Given my PCs' tendency to vacillate wildly between encouraging friend and iron-fisted tyrant, my poor companions must end up with all sorts of mixed signals.

This might also explain some of the odd behaviors my Black and White pets displayed.

Varric totally does this to tweak her nose.

I always thought that was weird myself...you go and harden Alistair by tellin him not to let people boss him around anymore yet you still magicly have the power to boss him around.

You're exempt from "people." You're the M-Fing Warden, people best listen 'else you'll get all Hero of Ferelden Champion of Redcliffe etc etc etc ad nauseum on their asses.

Also, I couldn't help but think "My Warden would recruit her in a heartbeat" when I saw Aveline punching that darkspawn out. Doesn't help, though, that my Warden who I finished everything with, and am planning on importing into DA2 (that for some reason won't upload to the site) was named Aveline about a month before I knew about this Aveline...

Anyhow, new special order of beloved characters:

1. Aveline
2. Merrill
3. Isabela
4. Carver
4. Anders/Fenris
5. Varric
6. Bethany

Aveline is so different than anything I remember BioWare doing. I loved that she was gentle and quiet with her husband when dissuading him from launching into a suicide attack against the Hawkes.

Let us bow our heads for the poor camera/animator that lost their life bringing us the Aveline upskirt.

Two things:
1) I like that Aveline doesn't have the default female stance/walk. I wish Lady Hawke didn't have it either. Or there was a toggle.

2) If you give her the choice on what to do with Wesley, she apparently kills him herself.

I am unsure as to what the appeal of looking up the skirt of someone wearing pants is, but I am immensely grateful Bioware had the foresight to make Bethany's costume something you couldn't do the same to.

@Maria, #2 intrigues me very much....It seems as though the "good" action is to do it yourself but there are a lot of cultures, especially eastern, in which it is seen as a high honor to be merciful and end someone's suffering...Seems as though Aveline doing it increases rivalry, but not sure on this...

They have certainly given us a hard choice near the beginning. To which I applaud.

More so when an immediate companion's abilities depend on that :D

Indeed...tis most interesting to think about all the other possible difficult choices that we'll encounter involveing her later on in the game.

It had to start somewhere. What really scared me was Flemeth's remark: "the first of many..."
That's how you know it's a good story. From getting spooked by another character :D
