I have to admit, I wasn't that interested in Aveline, but after seeing her in the demo I have grown to like her. I get the feeling I will be using her A LOT.
Yeah, I liked her as a character, and I have to say that she was extremely helpful as a tank.

For me the bolded is a bit of an understatement. Aveline is the first warrior/tank character I have ever wanted to have in my active party.

Aveline is never late, nor is she early. Time knows better than to screw with Aveline.
Aveline is the reason the darkspawn live in the Deep Roads.
Dragons pretended to be extinct to keep from being killed by Aveline.
Aveline could have escaped Ferelden alone if Hawke hadn't slowed her down.
When Varric is describing "the Champion," he's describing Aveline.
Aveline doesn't fall in combat. She takes power naps.
Wesley didn't marry Aveline. Aveline married Wesley.
When Wesley goes to bed, he wears full body armor to protect himself from Aveline.
Aveline's skin deflects all blows. She wears armor for appearance's sake only.
When you have a 5 foot blade and Aveline has a 5 foot blade, Aveline's sword is longer than yours.
The qunari stopped their conquest of the infidels to keep from angering Aveline.
Aveline is always watching. She sleeps with both eyes open.
Cassandra captured Varric because she lost too many Seekers trying to catch Aveline.
Aveline can kill Archdemons.
Demons don't possess Aveline. Aveline possesses demons.
P.S: I vaguely remember Luke saying that Aveline liked corn. I'm not making that up, right?

After finally prying myself from the demo and wiping Wesley's blood off my armor, I decided to dig out a few bad jokes I forgot to post months ago:

Now we need something about her poking and punching darkspawn to death [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie]
Yes, he did. No, you're not making that up xD

Aveline once poked Fenris. He never wanted to be touched again.
Aveline wrestles entire armies at once.
Aveline got into a bar fight and the bar lost.
When drinking, Aveline causes the beer to become intoxicated.
The Old Gods once offered Aveline immortality. She declined in favor of the ability to punch through armor.
The Calling doesn't lead to the Old Gods. It leads away from Aveline.
Aveline isn't named after the legend of the first female Chevalier. The Chevalier was named after Aveline.
Behind every successful man, there is a woman. Behind every dead man, there is Aveline.
Aveline knows what Flemeth is.

After playing the demo I'll definitely be taking Aveline on my journey. What a great gutsy woman!

Instead, Laidlaw describes a conversation between the player-character, Hawke, and Avalene, a Kirkwallian guard. "You go to the base, she's in a spot where she's at home, she's comfortable. We can have her leaning on desks, moving around, and interacting with stuff and a scene can play out. Not just, 'Hello, I am talking at you,' but a scene, a moment that occurs."
I bet she has a recliner. She never leaves dirty dishes in the sink and makes her bed when she gets up in the morning. She eats oatmeal for breakfast and views spicy foods with suspicion. Aveline will spend a minute grinding her boot into a welcome mat on a rainy day to make sure she doesn't muddy up someone else's home. She has a habit of going home in the evening and reading a after supper and before bed.
Or, she would if this were a more modern setting with libraries and paperback novels that anyone could pick up.

Least Alistair had some comedic moments even though his character was horribly boring. Like him, I see myself kicking Aveline out of the part first chance I get.
As far as Merrill, she was a boring character in DA1, i don't see how she could be any better in DA2.
I miss morrigan, oghren and sten. The new dwarf dude seems ok, but not evil enough for my tastes.

I think we have a new contender for the "Most Shallow Post On The Boards" medal. At least he doesn't want to kill them, I guess.
