Why are the awesome characters never love interests? I mean here we have a strong, middle aged but still hot as as hell and mature woman and she is NOT love interest. I fell in love with her when I saw her and am disappointed she can't romanced. That's unfortunate.

I mean the chick's get Thane but why can't we have Aveline? I'm tired of romancing children like Leliana and Tali or pretentious cold fish like Morrigan & Miranda. Morrigan is comparatively better though and Jack was a true breath of fresh air.

I mean look at Male Hawke. He screams MANLY!!! He needs a woman that compliments it
Isabella is cool though but she's Fem Jack Sparrow. She doesn't seem like a long term type

Miranda and Morrigan were cold fish? I want to know the women you've been dating. Or maybe I don't. They might scare me.

Miranda was a cold fish or at least just harsh. I said that Morrigan was much better once she opens up to you, most obvious when she leaves you before the final battle if romanced. Cold fish is the wrong term. Morrigan is intially pompous and ****y while Miranda is rather pretntious and perhaps mean spirited. Her attitude really irked me.
Leliana again better than Tali. I found her a bit too sugary sweet though but then she was a victim of circumstance and has more in common with Jack (Locked up and abused). Aveline is a bit of both Thane & Samara

I can definitely understand this male perspective.  Aveline is looking to be pretty freaking awesome, and with her actions what man wouldn't want to romance her?

However, if I may add as a woman, I am actually glad she cannot be romanced because (even though I think Wesley is a dork) there is something so romantic about her staying true to her love.  So many times in a pop-culture setting (tv show, movie, video game) we see a character who was deeply in love but somehow lost that love of their life...yet, somehow still manage to move on and find another.  Sure, this can happen and I wouldn't knock someone from moving on, but as a deeply emotional female I can definitely admire and respect a woman who just can't move on and love another after losing her soulmate...but that's just me;)

I wouldn't actually call Leliana and Tali childish. They were just being... women. Most girls I know are like that :P
And as for Morrigan and Miranda... when a character is ussually a bit more reserved, it means that there is something inside that needs looking into (nurtured/fixed/cured, however anyone wants to look at it ;) )

@ jackkel - thanks for the laughs, they are awesome ;)
Add one other to your list:
Aveline doesn't believe in the Maker. The Maker believes in Aveline

Hehe, it's not just you. I've learned to look at situations from many perspectives. It's fun and it helps pass the time ;)
It is indeed an admirable trait and the intire plot should make RP-ing very interesting. I don't plan to make my Hawke enter the story knowing that he will never have a chance at Aveline. I want him to try, and afterwards when the situation is put to rest (however that is handled), he will accept and move on knowing that he has his destiny as the Champion in front of him.

Not all stories end with the hero riding into the sunset with his/her love ^_^

I actually think you will be able to comfort her. It would be strange to think you won't be able to talk to her about Wesley at least once and give her some comfort in the process (or act like a jerk, whatever makes you happy).  You just won't be able to comfort her romantically... Yep.

Indeed!  And I am sure when I am RP'ing my male Hawke that he will alternate between gentleness, reverence, and some flirting with Aveline just because of her innate awesomeness:)

Were Aveline romance-able. Would she be the first truly older and mature woman to be love interest in a Bioware game? We have plenty of male examples, most recently Thane and perhaps Alistair (He's kind of young and inexperienced like Garrus but not too awkward) especially if hardened.

EDIT:

Any STAR TREK fans here? Her husband's name is Wesley. This guy is supposed to be hated.
In the Next Generation TV series, Wesley was this really young and annoying little brat

well I think Aveline may harbor a slight crush on Male Hawke as the game progresses, because in the demo when you play as Male Hawke and Isabella says "I told him enough" Aveline says "I doubt it", yet she doesn't do this for Female Hawke. she seems to be very protective of Male Hawke too, from what I gather not just from the demo, but other sources

I admit, when I first saw Aveline I was really excited and hoped she would be a romance option too.

But regardless, I’ll likely have her on my team all the time and try to say as many really “friendly” things as I can get away with while crying, knowing that my Hawke’s never gonna know what its like to romance someone who would be more than capable of breaking his/her wrist in an arm wrestling match*sniff* :crying:

Yes, I noticed that to. The curious thing is that Aveline doesn't have this response when you're playing as FemHawke. And then there is also this:

First of all, BioWare loves to play with our fragile hearts tease.

And second... don't they look great together ? :P

I'm in love with Aveline. She's so badass. At first when I read about her and looked at her I was like "ehh.... I don't know...."
then in the scene where she defended Wesley, I fell in love. Oh my darling AvelinePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Side note: Wesley's beyond pathetic, he takes down only one darkspawn and get his ass handed to him because he foolishly dropped his guard. dude deserved to die.Posted Image

As a too emotional for his sake male, I agree with you. Also, that's a strong RP argument but even if I accept it and think it's great (story-wise), my inner Aveline fanboi is crying tears of blood :crying:

Well just got through the demo and listening to Avelines sweet voice, depending on her steady strength in combat and seeing her even handed and considerate manner i've only got one thing to say about the rose of the kirk.
