Right!!? Dragon Age is NOT just a game...it's a lifestyle.

It's actually a name thought by the Chantry for an age that lasts 100 years.


On the demo, I tried to take away Aveline's weapons to see her punching darkspawn but then I got remembered of the fact that when you unequip your weapon, it get replaced by an average, sucky one.
edit: I hope this can get modded (Aveline exclusive) if the devs decide to release a new toolset or upgrade the old one

Again let me point out that the person in question who discovered that made choices that are different from what we intend to do. DAO variated in a large number of ways depending on you decissions, so we'll see  

When Otaku first told me this information I countered with this exact same response...but the more I thought about what we know...the less I honestly believe it. As much as I want to with all my soul...I just cannot afford to hope anymore...I cannot bear the pain of disapointment of this magnitude a third time. I shall take Shiro's advice and expect the worst, so in case I am wrong...I will be filled with sheer joy and bliss...rather then hope and risk disapointment. So in the meantime...I have changed my Wallpaper to CGI mage Hawke lookin awsome, changed my picture and sigs to Ashley stuff...who was until Aveline the next best thing.

I for one do not like it when people turn to be negative. I understand their reasons, but that doesn't mean they have to expect the worse and not smile from time to time. 
I see enough of that where I live and I tend to /facepalm a lot  

Bottom line, you people better start smiling before Aveline punches the living **** out of you

Hmm...Aveline punchs is indeed strong motivation...... Don't get me wrong I'm still drooling over the game. This is only about Aveline in particular, I will always worship her and kiss the dirt where her feet stood and all that jazz.  But what can I say? you can only grasp to the rope of hope for so long before you lose your grip. Besides...thats why when I first got DAO I felt disapointed after the first playthrough...I sat there thinking to myself "umm...was that it?" I told my friend this and he said "thats cuz you need to do what I do...think bad about everything even about things you like...if you do then you can't ever be disapointed" At first I laughed at him and said that made so sense...then ME2 came around and got all excited again...after the rush of adrenaline wore off 3 days after the first playthrough I realized how slopy the story was handled and was again disapointed.

Then the DLC came out and I expected the worst...only to be totaly blown away by the results...I then thought to myself "my god...maybe hes on to somthing" Except LotSB...no matter how hard I tried I couldn't NOT be excited about it...that DLC delivered a thousand times over and surpassed every dream I held for it by miles. That was the only exception. Honestly when I saw the ME3 trailer when watching the VGA's I said "oh...cool ME3" wasn't really excited...mainly because I just saw Skyrim and had to change my pants due to an explosion in that area. Even then the only reason I was excited for Skyrim was because I thought Bethesda had just said "F it" to the whole Elder Scrolls franchise for freakin Fallout which I hate in compairison. But I did like F:NV...mainly cuz I thought it would suck azz...but I got it on black friday for $40 and thought "wow....that was BA"

Well, it looks like Mr. Priestly is getting the forums ready for the big launch. I feel very nostalgic all of a sudden   
When I first played Origins, I thought that Sten was the most badass character in the first instalment. Now I know Aveline will be the one in the second   


I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone after the 11th when I pick up my copy and have some nice quiet time with the game. Cya all around till then, and I hope everyone will enjoy the game   

After we get a sense of the game, we can discuss a lot more about her character, spoilers included. We can also begin poking at BioWare for Aveline LI in the next expansion and/or DLC    (I think I heard a dev curse me as I wrote this :innocent: )

I agree.

I just find it amusing that the theoretical follower he knows next to nothing about is evidently much better than the followers that were actually written which he hasn't yet seen. I suspect that, for some people, playing the actual game is neither preferable nor recommended-- they seem to be much happier where they are.

And while initially I woulda liked for her to have been a romance interest for the protagonist I am glad, based on what I know, that she isn't. An interesting and certainly new dynamic - for a Bioware game, as far as I can remember - that's welcome.

Said infos even nudged Varric out of my planned first party. And that's quite a feat.
