I laughed so hard at her when she was hitting on Donnic.

I also wanted to beat the hell out of Donnic for stealing her from me... Why?! Why did they add flirt options with no chance of sucess?! WHY?!?!?

She refused our advances? Or she ignores our attempt as in the beginning ?

I heard she could get married with Donnick, there is no other purpose, other alternatives ?

Can we prevent her from being with Donnick?

Aveline was my Wynne. I could never hate her. Always wanted to make her proud of me.

I never diiiiied from squealing when I maxed Aveline's Friendship. Isabela was there and the two were getting along. That moment, my heart gave a flutter.

I was really disconcerted when Aveline started raging at me for selling Wesley's shield...when she was still wearing it. I was like...um. I kinda stopped liking her after she kept acting weird like that. Nice, then blaming me for making her job so hard....then nice, then ranting at me because I sold a shield I didn't. (this was when I gave her her shield-gift)

Yeah Aveline got mad at me when Wesley's Shield was in the Storage Trunk back at Hawke's house. I wanted to jump in that TV and be like "WTF woman I still have your shield... but whatever"

Well, crap in a hat. Hey guys, I noticed a youtube vid of an Aveline dialogue that was missing a player choice and I was all WTF. Found the issue and put in a ticket for it to be patched (yes we will be patching, Mike said I could say that, no I don't know the date). It’s not a plot breaker and some players do see it, so I don’t know where it falls in priority. It's not even that noticeable it's missing unless you're me, I suppose, but it's a bonding moment I really liked so here’s the workaround for the meantime. Maybe OP can pin my shame to the first post:

Plot: The Captain's Condolences

Issue: This plot has one conversation. For some parties, 1 player choice is missing. I set a dialogue option to the “Follower” choice icon to call attention to it, but this has a built-in scripting check to see if that follower is in the party. Normally that would be critical, but in this instance it’s a home-base conversation with Aveline, so it removes the option unnecessarily if she’s not “in your party.”

Non-spoiler workaround: When you get this plot in Act 2, just have Aveline in your active party when you go talk to her in the barracks. So for that one conversation, second choice hub:
Aveline in your party = upper left option visible.
Aveline not in party = upper left option not visible.

If you're not there yet, there's a party picker close by so you can do a quick swap. If you played with Aveline consistently you probably saw it as intended and chose to take the option or not. Like I said it's not a plot breaker. It's just a solid bit of content that should have been available, so, yeah, Goddammit Anders me.

Is it how to get her to tell Hawke the story about her father?  Because both times I've done that quest so far, she's offered to tell me and I just have 3 different ways of saying " No".

Yeah, that’s the one. If you have her in the party when you go to her home base, the option to keep on that topic should be available in the top left. Hoping I can get that addressed because, like I said, dammit .

Aveline was very well written and I enjoyed her in my party immensely. Just wanted to say thanks for a fantastic, well rounded and realistic character.

Aveline is a lovely character. She is definitely the most grounding person I have in my party and I love having her around.

It has been about two weeks since I last posted to this thread.  I did not want to comment anymore on her character until I got a chance to complete the game.  My opnions of Aveline have not changed.  She is still a great character and one of my favorites.  As much as I was one of the more vehement opposers of the Aveline not a romance option, I did respect the 'did not fit her character' arguement.  After playing, and with my own interpretation of her character, I have a greater understanding why Aveline would never go for Hawke:

• She seeks order and stability in her life.  Hawke certainly is not the person for that.  She is still a friend though and will follow Hawke, but could not see herself tied to Hawke.
• She is looking for someone she can protect.  I believe this is the big one.   She showed this side as early as her first attempts with Donnic.  I really enjoyed this part of her character.  As much as gameplay requires her to protect my squishy mage Hawke, storywise Hawke does not need a protector, but a friend.

It is with these two points in mind that if DA3 continues the story of Hawke (which I have my doubts), Aveline will only cameo and not be a full companion.  I would not have a problem with this.

It is not all sunshine and roses either.  I do have a few problems.  My first problem is probably going to get me the most flak as I am probaby the only person on these boards who did not like her 'Long Road' quest.  It is not, because my Hawke could not be the one to romance her.  However, it is because I personally do not like the 'Playing Cyrano' writing convention.  I have seen it a little too often to enjoy playing it.  There was some variation to it's use and there dialogue during it was okay, but that is all I can say.  The second problem I have is a dialogue choice I luckily did not see.  It was the variation on the 'I want my beloved to be happy' dialogue option if you keep flirting with Aveline.  The reason I did not see this dialogue choice was because after the second flirtation line it became obvious to me that Aveline was ignoring the passes of Hawke.  I loathe this writing convention.  Absolutely loathe it.  These are the only items that detract from a character that is still awesome.

Aveline was, by far, my favourite character in DA2. I love her so much, oh my god. She is the biggest badass so far in either of the games. Her strong moral principles, her ability to tank ANYTHING, her banter, everything, it's so good. I love how she's "mannish" to use Isabela's parlance, but she still cracks jokes and falls in love.

If ****es be corrupting the guard or making false accusations towards her, I love her HELL NAW attitude about it. What a woman! Thank you, Bioware and Mr Kistjanson for my most favourite female character in the Dragon Age series. (: I hope to see her again in DA3 (please oh my god pleaaaaase)

Quick question for those that play male Hawkes: During Act 2, when you're helping Aveline court Donnic, what is his reaction after spending an awkward night with Hawke in the Hanged Man? Does he think Hawke is interested in him? He tells my Lady Hawke he likes a woman with backbone instead of all the shy stuff and then Hawke tells Aveline, "he thinks I'm interested in him!" Just wondering if m!Hawke plays out differently or if it's the same dialogue.

@demonic_cookie: I tend to look up quests in the wiki to see if companions will approve or disapprove in a situation so I can get an idea of who to bring. If you just want to cheese it, you can bring Aveline along with Sebastian when acquiring Seb's personal quest. Telling the Grand Cleric she's useless repeatedly will get +5 rivalry points from Seb and Ave at the same time. No doubt this will be patched.

He thinks you're trying to hit on Aveline and that you should tell her yourself instead of going through him, after saying that he isn't interested in men at the beginning IIRC.

I'm not the only person who believe that Aveline is the most badass character in Dragon Age and that she rocks. Yeah!

Terrific character in many ways. The helping with romance quest was really well done and was needed to temper some of the darker aspects of the game. Also tremendously well done in having companions that hate each other at the beginning gained respect for each other and became friends to some extent by the end. (Aveline_Isabela)

Only character I liked and trusted in the whole bloody game, fenris and varric were allright but the rest just made me say meh including the so called family. Carver interested me with the beginning rivalry but he was dead because I was a warrior and I doubt i'll make another playthrough or even finish this one. Pity.
