Would you all agree with this?

It's in the codex, and happens in the three year gap between the end of act two and the beginning of act three. So yes, it just doesn't happen happen. You can't witness it.

Question, Aveline fans. I've heard that after All That Remains, Aveline can tell Hawke a story about her father when you next go see her. However, I've only had her offer, followed by three variations of responding with 'no'. Is that it, or is there some trick to getting more that I've overlooked?

Oh I see.

I didn't get a story, and I tend to replay conversations ad nauseam to see the different dialog options, however I might have still missed it, or missed some prior condition for it to show up.

It's a bug.
Short answer, my fault, but you can still get the option to appear if Aveline is in your active party when you go talk to her in her base for The Captain's Condolences

Long answer details are in this post earlier in this thread. I fixed it and it'll be going out in a patch, but for now, you'll have to be mindful of the workaround. Not what I wanted you thinking about in that moment, that's for sure.Posted Image

Sounds.. about right. It seems like she's willing to overlook a lot when it comes to Hawke and company however.

No. There are too many instances of her being either Neutral (something, most often Good) or (something, most often Lawful) Good within the game to support a LN outlook. Overall I'd say Aveline is a very good example of Smart Lawful Good, she has compassion, feels sympathy for the plight of people, and works within the rules to make things better overall. A LN person simply cares about the law, a LG person cares about the effect of those laws on people, and will work to change those laws within the system if it's warrented.

One of the very first things she can do in Kirkwall is help Hawke to bully the merchant into paying Athenril (or that mercenary guy too), and she does it simply because of the way he had just treated a Fereldan refugee. That's pretty NG to me, if not bordering on CG. This could indicate a NG person with Lawful tendencies, but the weight of her actions within the game makes me stay on the Lawful side of things.

Having said all that, the Dungeons and Dragons alignment system is rather simplistic, and doesn't really encompass the subtle nuances of a person's morality.

Having ran around Kirkwall for a few years with Aveline and Izzy in my party I began to wonder: does Aveline ever just get sick of it and lash out from time to time? I would love to see a segment where Isabela is annoying the living daylights out of Aveline, you hear a loud *KRANG* and Hawke turns around to see Isabela senseless on the ground with Aveline calmly re-affixing her shield to her back and smiling like the Cheshire Cat.

Well, there is the part where she smacks the crap out of Hawke if you rival her. That...was a little bit surprising, to say the least.

No. I think she's very much Lawful Good. The alignment system (as I understand it) separates the axes for a reason. Being Lawful Good doesn't mean her commitment to order is any less than if she were Lawful Neutral. And I think her moral views are very "good."

That is a friggin' amazing wallpaper. <3 I had a fanboyish squee. It even made me set it up and replace my old wallpaper of a shark with a bowler hat and a handgun. Oh, and it always seemed to me that Aveline was almost archetypical Lawful Good.

With nothing else worth talking about, I'll go back to lurking.

I would think, what with her being a duelist, Isabela'd* be excellent at reading body language and quick on her feet.

Aveline seems disciplined. I can imagine her attempting it once or twice over the six years, but never being able to catch a hold of her.

*wtf is that?

Not sure I'd agree about the lawful part. Aveline's got a few banters that indicate she's not as big a stickler on the rules as she'd like people to believe (mostly when talking with Fenris):

Aveline: All right, I'm just going to say it. Fenris, you need to present yourself better.
Fenris: What are you talking about?
Aveline: You're squatting in Hightown. I sympathize with your claims, but your neighbors have influence.
Fenris: My claims?
Aveline: To the estate. "Rightfully stolen" isn't exactly something I can forward to the Viscount. Be more discreet about... yourself.
Fenris: I shall endeavor to exist with less offense.

Aveline: Thank you for that tip, Fenris.
Fenris: You caught them, then?
Aveline: Yes—a whole nest of slave runners working out of the Undercity.
Fenris: I imagine you imprisoned them?
Aveline: Sadly, they never made it to prison.
Fenris: You always know how to make me smile, Aveline.

Fenris: It feels good to be captain of the guard, yes?
Aveline: No, I will not change the patrols around your mansion again. There's already been too many questions.
Fenris: You wound my pride with such accusations.
Aveline: But you were going to ask.
Fenris: Eventually.
Aveline: (Laughs) I'll look at the roster and see what I can do.

I tended to use Aveline OR Fenris (I was already a warrior) so I never got those banters.

It definitely pushes her toward Neutral Good in my mind.

I'll also add that D&D alignments don't translate very well to Dragon Age. The labels aren't very meaningful. But they're still fun to talk about :)

With the new evidence submitted, I'd say Aveline is NG. And might even have slight Chaotic tendencies.

I'm in the same boat as ishmaeltheforsaken, but with less Fenris and more Aveline. In fact, I managed to get through my entire first play through without having the err... misfortune to find him. (No, I don't like him.)

There is a scene in the captain of the guards office where Isabela and Aveline come very close to a fight.  Hawke has to step between them to avoid a physical conflict.  I believe it is just at the start of the Aveline/Donnic romance quest.

I always imagined that any conflict between Isabela and Aveline would end up with Isabela dancing around out of Aveline's reach while making jokes at her expense, ending either when Isabela made a mistake and got laid out with one punch, or Isabela decided to leave. My guess is that early on, it was more of the former, and later on it became the latter.

Aveline=one of the best female character in both DA series.Everyone says she is ugly, mannish and some even attempt to mod her unique facial feature, but still I find her looks better than most of the women in the game,Morrigan,Merril,Isabela or whoever women you name them.

Awkward Hawke is Hilarious. :) That whole scene is a scream.

I was waiting for it to devolve into "slap slap kiss"... But I'm silly like that. (They have great chemistry, I thought anyway.)

Anybody interested in seeing?

Ohh... I got the friendly kiss on the mouth from Aveline after the long road. That was so sweet =)

What is this about an almost fight between Aveline and Isabela before The Long Road-q. I have completely missed that. What do I have to do to see that on the next Hawke?
