God damn.......I really hope BioWare actually made a decent character creator in which I can make a somewhat good looking Hawke without any difficulty.

'Cause if FemHawke Default is like the Male Shepard Default. Then I can't see it coming by the companions.

I get the feeing Aveline will be somewhat of a 'Brienne of Tarth' like character. Which is cool.

There are definitely some comparisons that could be drawn, though Brienne is very much all about her unrequited love and her lack of self-esteem-- Aveline's very different from that, even if she is an equally no-nonsense sort of female warrior. I think Luke's done a great job with her.

I think my males will stick with Isabela if Aveline is the other LI, she seems loyal to friends

I hope I can make Hawke like Shepard

As a food I see Aveline as a creme brulee, tough but sweet exterior, delicous soft centre.

Now that Luke appears to have confirmed that she gets armor later on, I am much happier. Escape from Lothering -> start of Kirkwall seems like the equivalent of a DAO origin anyway and I did the city elf one in my wedding dress so having Aveline in a blacksmiths aprons sounds just dandy :)

Her husband might disagree.

Eye of the beholder.

Indeed. I think she looks neat, and I'm still holding out a little hope that she'll be romanceable.

Probably not, as you do kill her husband.

Or make her do it.

now that i think about it, she gives me a similar vibe to Daeghun (the adopting father of the main character) of neverwinters nights 2.

I don't see why this would be an obstacle. If anything it would make for a very interesting romance filled with twists and turns. Think Jaheira.

Has that been confirmed? He may just die due to injuries sustained while fleeing lothering.

I really hope Bioware is saving the best for last... Seriously, enough with all the human females; i'm getting sick of seeing boring ass humans everywhere! Unless it's Cassandra, I'm not even interested >.>

True, once again it looks like all the lady romances are human. Which does make me sad, no ladydwarf for me.

Still, I really like Aveline.

One of the early choices is to either kill him or let her kill him, it was in one of the demos, I'm pretty sure. Of course, letting her kill him may lead into a romance.

I think the design looks terrible frankly, especially the concept art. Nothing unique about it at all, on any level, and it's just not good design either. The story of her character is pretty cliche and tired as well, nothing interesting there that I can see.

Just not feeling it.

That's absolutely shocking, considering how everything else about DA2 so far has lit you on fire.

Aveline looks good enough for my PC to decapitate her in a random battle, but having such a companion... She's bland, ugly and generally have the impression of "random bandit model 17".

What I'm trying to say is that decapitation should always be an option.

Except with Varric. He'd decapitate you. Then put his head back on and walk off.

Ha. Ha.. hahaha. Very nice. Sarcasm at it's best!

To get back on topic and away from the fine art of sarcasm; Aveline's shield and sword. Now the sword is pretty.. well, it raises a lot of "What's up with that?" questions, but right now i'm interested in the shield. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the symbol of the Templars? I think some of them had that "Sword with light coming out of it" symbol on their chest plates, but I may be wrong.

I guess she got it from her husband before he died? It would make sense as I don't think he fights during the escape from Lothering.

Is it just me or is she a bit cliché?

I don't see how. Instead of getting yet another magical elf we're getting a strong female character similar to Brienne of Tarth. Personally, I've been wanting to see a character like this for ages so it can't be that clichéd. While I haven't been overly excited for Dragon Age II this definitely tipped the scales a little.

Here's hoping that she's romanceable. Be nice to have an option other than sassy rogue or sultry sorcereress.

Thats brilliant as I was hoping she was a Brienne-esque character except without all the 'unrequited love, lack of self-esteem' thing.

Oh, and who'd Luke write in Origins?
