I think the Dragon Age team has done a decent job of providing more-or-less realistic looking character of both genders. Certainly there is room for improvement but we've already been told to expect unique models given the unique clothing that each companion will have and that's gotta be a good thing, right? That has to show they are putting an effort into different body-types. I've got little to no complaints about the female characters we've seen so far for DA 2, I love the fact that they fit the world/genre that they are developed for and aren't some crazy super model/anime looking chicks.
Yes, i agree with you.
I dont like every change BW does to their games, but i like how they realised that unique looks are very important to the playerbase. Thats definatly a plus!

That's a good point, I give the Dragon Age teams credit for that (the Mass Effect team not so much). Still, on this one I think they went a little too plain, a little too drab.

There are features of any female character that define her as female. If these are well represented in the character design, the female will appear attractive even if the face is not cut to conventional standards of beauty
Avelline does not need to look like Lady Diana to be attractive, she simply should not be a shapeless mass

I fail to see how this physique could possibly be construed as "shapeless".

Well my eyesight's -4.75, and when I remove my contacts Aveline definitely qualifies for the shapeless mass category.
Moving on...
Going from her clothes, does Aveline have a day job as a blacksmith or metalworker or anything? Have the devs said anything on that?

To me, it looks more like leather armor. Like so;

Note; just noticed the slightly open seams along the back and side of her leggings.
Does that change anything? I must admit, medieval leather armor is not my forte.

Well, it probably won't hold together as well, but that'll hardly be an issue.
I think it's a clever visual cue--she was too muscular for her pants, so she had to let the seams out.
EDIT: Did they forget to add a knife there? It looks like she's slitting darkspawn throat with...atmosphere.

Besides everyone shouldn't look like Marylin Monroe, anyway.

I like her, but now I'm starting to wonder what Wesley saw in her. Or what she saw in him.
I think Aveline's really pretty. Also, it's hard not to be impressed by a woman who can bench-press a cow.
Knowing how much a fullgrown cow weighs... that's just scary...

I believe that's the part of the cutscene where she is punching a darkspawn into submission. PUNCHING. For daring to attack Wesley.
Yes, it is awesome.

The record bench press lifter person couldn't lift a cow. Well, maybe one. But one on the small side. Barely. Assuming beef cows, of course, and not a small breed.
EDIT: You know, looking at her face, I'm surprised anyone could say she's ugly. I think she's prettier, facially, than Isabela. She doesn't exactly look like her concept art, but that's fine.

I was mostly kidding about the cow thing.
We just happen to joke a lot about the things Aveline can bench press.
For example, here's a conversation I had with Mary just this week:
Mary: Do you think Aveline could create a weight so heavy she couldn't lift it?
Sheryl: *horrified at the thought that there might exist something that Aveline couldn't bench press.* Ummmm... maybe? I... I don't know. I am disturbed by the thought.
Mary: Don't worry. I'm sure if Aveline created such a weight, she'd train until she could lift it. And then move on to heavier things.

Using the powers of Irresponsible Extrapolation, I can deduce that Aveline is the Maker. Which makes Wesley Andraste! Hail Wesley!

Aveline's maiden name wouldn't happen to be Luffy, would it?Sheryl Chee wrote...

(ok technically it should be Monkey but that could be misinterpreted rather badly)
