You know, I'm mystified by all this talk of how not-pretty Aveline is. It completely misses the point. Pretty is not a warrior's objective. Pretty is for rogues and mages. Warriors need to look like they can twist the head off of an ogre and spit down its throat.
I haven't been hanging around this sordid corner of the Internet long enough to know if you are being deliberately ironic.
I'm hoping so.

Now, what Aveline is is handsome.
Agree 100%
Best adjective attributed to her thus far, methinks.

So in essence, she's hawt.
Hawt is less precise, but equally accurate, yes.

There was some exaggeration there, but no irony.

I would think being called handsome while being a woman would be a little, uh, insulting? Not that Aveline has the capacity to get insulted by things we say on a forum.
Not at all, it means striking and imposing rather than conventionally pretty; I doubt she looks the way she does by accident.
Having said that, I haven't actually seen a decent picture of her face in the game so I don't really know why people are labelling her as hideous/ugly.

I take it that she looks that way more out of necessity given that she does hard physical labor for a living rather than out of a specific aesthetic choice to look ripped.
Only if you feel it makes sense that Conan got that buff by pushing the wheel of pain.
Lots of people do hard physical labour, it doesn't lead to them getting ripped.

Hard physical labor typically won't make you "ripped", but that of a good exercise routine.
Are there some photos I'm missing to see? How is it anyone can truley tell the look of this character from side shots?

My point wasn't as much that the player gets access to cheap armour, but rather, that you witness everyone who as much as dabbles in combat, down to common thugs, sporting full setsSir JK wrote...
So for practicality and fun, the game gives us cheap armour.
But anyway, given discussing plausibility of Aveline's backstory isn't desirable in thread about Aveline, i guess we better drop it and go back to discussing all these other things we know about her.
like uhmm
... well, yeah.

Ripped was just an exaggeration, she doesn't look like Conan, she looks like someone who does hard physical labor.
Well she ain't flabby, but niether is she ripped, big-boned or muscular. About all physical labor will allow you is tone. Couple that with a healthy diet and you'll look like myself.
Do any of the other female NPC's look different? I'm failing to see the connection/difference.

...Could we get a dev on the line to confirm that Aveline didn't get de-beefed?
Surely you meant 'beefed'?
I don't know TMP, they look the same to me. Now of course darker colors can make for a slimmer appearance.
EDIT: I think this has more to do with the fact she's a warrior, being in the mindset of those 'naysayers'...........................which is awesome! (that she's a warrior)
EDIT AGAIN: She's also a redhead /score

She should look like this
And that's exactly what her model looks like. I don't know if that's "de-beefed" or not-- she certainly looks fairly muscular to me, when I'm playing, if not "ripped" per se. Solid.
Of course, once she's in armour you see a lot less of her arms and such, but I think everyone gets the idea by then.
