I think you can choose not to rescue Aveline + her husband (even if he dies anyway) thus saving both carver and bethany

least that is what I heard

I don't know about Aveline, but Bethany or Carver dies depending on wich class you are, you can't save both.

Maybe not, there's a post by a Bioware employee implying they might not have to both die, doesn't mean that more than one comes along with you.

Pretty much, yeah. I'm not shallow... it's just there is ugly girls and then there's Aveline.

Don't talk about concepts you don't understand, and yeah, Jack

I understand the concept of being a complete and utter douche gamer that murders NPCs out of hand for arbitrary reasons, yes.

And then there's your hand, which you'd better get used to.

What's so wrong with having good taste? If your implying that my standards are to high in RL that I wont ever be with a girl that I like, you are sorely mistaken. Big part of that would be my good genes... although I'd like to think it's my desirable charm. ;)      Ignore this if it's not what you were talking about...

As for Aveline, I don't have a problem with her being 'ugly'... it's just... damn! I personally would have made a good looking chick ugly through battle scars and what have you. Something more intriguing I guess. Just way to plain.

And, no I wont 'kill' her for being ugly. lol (Some other guy said that...)

Look what you did! Jerry Seinfeld has lost all faith in humanity because of your shallowness!

But, seriously, I think Aveline's hot, you think she's ugly. Such a discussion can go nowhere.

Again, there's a difference between being shallow and having a preference. I'm sure Ave will have a good personality or some **** because Bioware knows what their doing.

So I've been gone from the forums for a while (decided to avoid spoilers....but then remembered I am a weak, weak person) has any more been revealed about her? Other than her dad was Orleasian, her husband will die, and she'll join the forces at kirkwall? Do we know what her proffesion was in Lothering? Or anything else?

since she joins the city guard in kirkwall and is a warrior i'd say her occupation in lothering was similar, she was probably part of the town's local militia.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this before, but in DAO there's lore about a martyr chevalier that female warriors of Orlais are supposed to revere. Leliana tells a story about it, and if I'm not mistaken the martyrs name is also Aveline. I thought that was pretty interesting. :)

Her parents probably named her after the original Aveline.  If I'm not quite mistaken, they were Orlesian.  Which is probably going to come up in the game, with the modern-day Aveline either proud of her namesake, or wishing that she'd been named something else.

You have a prefferance for being shallow, clearly.

I'm not big on headbands. Maybe because in the 80s my mom used to think I'd look cool in one. But I didn't.

I've always thought it looked a little Olivia Newton John-ish, but Aveline seems to like it.

Varric: "That's quite the fetching headband you have there."
Aveline: "It keeps the sweat out of my eyes."
Varric: "Oh, that's interesting. I could have sworn girls didn't sweat."
Aveline: "They do. You're thinking of smart-mouthed dwarves that don't work for a living."

If this is anything like Aveline I know I'm going to lvoe her banter with Varric and Isabela

I'm really looking forward to a good female melee brawler. Mazzy was pretty awesome back in BG2. Though if she's S&S Hawke is definitely going 2H...

I like female Warriors/Tanks, so I'll take what I can get; I am pretty sure I can deal with looks given that this is a video game and I don't really care about how my NPC's look (to a certain extent, Jack crossed the damn line), because I could give a **** about romances.

I'll still say I wish you could romance people who aren't in your party because I hold the mantra not to dip your pen in the company ink, but that's only doable in Persona games so far.  Well, and the Witcher, but my PC isn't good enough to play the Witcher.

Heck, I still wish Mhairi could have survived in Awakening and like. . .Oghren could of died. I would have probably used her any game I did not play an Arcane Warrior.

Well, actually, FAQ says that you can engage in romances with people in your party and throughout the world. So maybe...

Looking at Aveline really emphasizes how much the body shapes have improved in DA2; Aveline's shape is so much more realistic than the figures in Origins. I love her simple utilitarian outfit, which fits her background. For her face, though... I dug the concept art more than the screenshotsI've seen so far--such needle-thin eyebrows on a woman who's supposed to be down-to-earth are distracting, and I miss the more reddish hair with the adorable freckles--but she's pleasant enough to look at, and her whole concept tickles me. Red-haired married female knight, daughter of an exile who became a farmer, cares more about people than honor... she's just so interesting.

I was assuming you'd not have a choice about Aveline. Should it really come down to a choice between one of your siblings and Aveline, it's not going to be easy for me by any means. I love the idea of having a female warrior along.

Aveline and Isabela both need to ease up on their eyebrow plucking. They'd both look better with a stronger brow. But overall I think Aveline is pretty, though the reception she's getting doesn't surprise me. Myself, I love seeing muscles on a lady as long as she doesn't look like a roided up bodybuilder. Aveline is still firmly on the feminine side of the line.

Totally; I guess they were trying to make them look feminine, but personally I never thought "feminine" meant "the smallest amount of eyebrow possible." Looking at your avatar, that's the perfect amount of eyebrow for her, and she doesn't look unfeminine at all; she looks beautiful and strong.

The shaky reception doesn't surprise me, either. People tend to be terribly critical of appearance before they see a character in action, and some are just picky either way. I appreciate her look overall though, and especially the muscles--they're just as you say; she looks strong, but not like she's using steroids, just like she does hard work. I was really impressed by their unconventional choices here. I have a feeling I'll like her as much as I liked Sten; in the sort of way that sneaks up on you and surprises you.

I kinda like the juxtaposition of very delicate brows on Aveline with her very not-delicate presence, though they are awfully darn thin.

They can still be thin, just maybe not *that* thin. Like Sebastian's forehead. I wish it were just a smidge smaller, while still being large so he still looks like himself.
