Elves have that effect on people I guess. Personally, Aveline's story is one of the few that has me interested. Besides, my mage is gonna need a warrior to watch his ass, so it's best if she likes watching it.

How did you get that Avilene picture??

I did the whole playing around with the character creator thing to create a custom avatar, then played around with photoshop a little to get something I liked. Looks pretty good, right?

I love all characters. It always makes me sad when the Aveline and Isabela threads disappear.

I think the problem is that Aveline is... normal. Not an elf. Probably not a love interest (). Not an obviously important character like the narrator. She's gotten lots of hate for not being "pretty" enough and being "manish" because she looks like she could actually heft a sword.

I don't doubt at all that she'll be a wonderfully deep character for those of us willing to give her a chance.

I've had a mild crush on Ave since the first screenies were release, and it's only grown.  I think she's beautiful(seriously; freckles, red hair, awesome headband, amazing voice? dowant), and I love that they even gave her own body model so - brace yourselves - she actually looks like she could swing around something heavier than a pointy stick.

There's nothing wrong with liking the "pretty" characters.  I, like you, am pretty impressed with roster thusfar, I just don't see how Aveline doesn't fit in that box, too.  She may not be as traditionally beautiful as Isabela (which people are saying she's ugly, too, so WTF, fandom?) but she's by no means ugly.

I would love to see a romance really utilizing the span of time.  I mean, her husband died.  I'd like to see how they could work around that, make a Hawke/Aveline romance believable, rather than, say, what happened with Jaheira.  Which was insulting at best, even if I did like the meat of the romance.

I've been on the fence on my belief that she's a romance for awhile now.  The addition of Merrill to the roster has me worried where I was fairly confident before.  We'll see, I suppose.  There's always fanfic.

This. Hopefully, all of the characters will get more attention once the game is actually released.

I don't think it's necessarily an either-or where Merrill and Aveline are concerned. It's entirely possible that both of them will end up being romances.



In fact, I hope they both are, so that Merrill can be the solely-straight one and Aveline can be F/F_OK.

Aveline was the reason I reconsidered my usual approach to romances in Bioware games. In the Mass Effect series my Vanguard romanced Jack, my Infiltrator romanced Tali. In Dragon Age: Origins my mage hooked up with Morrigan and my rogue hooked up with Leilana. But now, my mage is looking for some Aveline lovin'.

Honestly, chances are not looking good for Aveline as regular Love Interest either. Which is a shame.

I swear I'll never understand the people's obsession with elves. Despite I know Bioware won't do it, I'd love to have a female elf thrown at the public and have her NOT be a love interest. Just to make a point.

Why is it the two characters I find the most intriguing are the ones with the lowest chance to develop a deeper relationship? Sigh.

Although I'm noticing that having Varric and Aveline around in the party is basically pigeonholing my Hawke into being a mage. Drat.

Oh well, Aveline's still coming.

She doesn't need to. But usually, having the companion as a potential Love Interest allows the player to learn more about the character, as it offers the companion a higher amount of interaction with the main PC. I'm afraid we won't get to explore Aveline's character as well as others, which is a pity given that she has the most appealing character from what we know so far.
