I guess I'm one of the few men that don't want ^that^.

I hear ya man...I don't like the hourglass figure either...it's way too unhealthy for my tastes. Would much rather see some meat on the bones.

I think you might be mistaken as to what an hourglass figure it. Not only is it healthy to have one, but requires a woman to have 'meat' on her bones.

Add to that the fact that her husband died, and you have this amazing situation where all her strength and power couldn't save the one she loved. That would mess with anyone's head-male or female and is something ANYONE regardless of gender could relate to. If someone is going to dismiss Aveline purely because she is athletic and tough, they either have issues or maybe at least need to consider that even if she is not the type they might fancy as a "LI", she can still be the best gal pal and wing woman they could have.

True.
I'm kinda wondering if Aveline's quote on her character page, "Protect what matters with everything you have. Or you’ll have nothing. And deserve it.", might partly be a reference to herself. A self-punishing remark, so to say.
Personally, (and to my sorrow) I don't believe she's a f/f LI, m/f maybe. Either way I still look forward to being total warriorwomen-bros with herPosted Image (unless she's extremely anti-mage, in which case there will be conflict between her and my non-magical but overprotective big sis Hawke).

Apparently men are intimidated by strong women,

[SNIP]. A warrior woman is interesting by default because she is the female who most strongly symbolizes not needing a man to protect or defend her. I am sure Merrill and Isabella are no slouches in the self-defense department, but a warrior kicks more butt.

Both of you made very interesting points.

I think when men play out a fantasy, a lot of them (not all) tend to cater to the woman who they can protect, or alternatively a woman who is just sufficiently spicy to hold her own, but not be in any way someone who could be their match physically. In either case, the visuals matter quite a bit. Cute, pretty, beautiful, sultry, exotic, feminine are good (to them)...rarely athletic, strong, muscular...

I also think women are more likely to enjoy a character such as this because their PCs are often warriors and it doesn't make them any less woman when they are. So it seems preposterous to them to infer that her class makes her any less womanly.

/ All IMO.

You're just baiting me now.  It won't work I refuse to let it work again.  I will not fall into the trap of thinking about Aveline snu-snu.  Delicious, delicious Aveline snu-snu.  Wrapped in each other's arms, kissing passionately.  Feeling the warmth of the other's embrace.

Damn it.  You got me again.

I respectfuly disagree...I think if a woman is too skiny then she basicly starves herself just to achive the "statues quo" that society declares how women should look. Just because someone is skinny does not mean they are healthy.

But an hourglass figure has nothing to do with being skinny.

This woman has a classic hourglass figure:

Hourglass figures aren't actually "skinny," per se. They require fat both upstairs and downstairs, just less in the middle. Those supermodels that look more like clothes-hangers than human beings would be regarded as sticks, not hourglasses.

Hourglass figure is about skeletal structure. Shoulders, waist, to hips ratio.

I came to see what the Aveline thread was up to only to see pictures of Christina Hendricks. She has distracted me with her deliciousness.

God damn it Maria, you can't just post pictures of Christina like this.  Give me a warning next time, so that I may be prepared when my jaw dislodges itself on the keyboard. Putting it back into its place is gonna be a pain.

They're not as big as they seem.
/end David

The actress herself is short and Mad Men is set during the 1960s when conical bras were quite popular.

I've seen her on Firefly, they are still quite large.

Not having Aveline be a LI would be such a bummer. Another thing, didn't they say our Hawke can romance other people besides our companions, or am I just going crazy?

Regardless...was just used as an NPC "romance" example.
