Yeah, a confirmation one way or the other would be nice.

I wouldn't count on it beeing confirmed in the launch trailer (which should come around soon enough). I think that will still be reserved for Isabela.

No doubt.  I need to re-center myself and find my inner pessimist again.

Hehe, no need for that. Get ready however to be surprised and/or scared. When ME2 was coming, and on account that a lot people were talking about Tali, BioWare introduced that little scene of her falling to her death during the trailer =P

Expect anything and trust nothing :D

Nah, I'm pessimistic because I like being surprised.  Either, I'm right and she isn't so no disappointment; or I'm wrong, in which, case :D

Room for more fan art? :) Aveline was more fun to draw than I'd anticipated.

(This picture I though approve. Just doing a tour on all companion threads and dropping a single one liner, but could not include one liner on this and wanted to give thumbs up for this picture.)

Avelina actually got a place on my team thanks to that fanart picture. I am interested to know what she thinks.

It seems we can't just talk to companions unless we're in Kirkwall or something like that (as to avoid talking during battle, etc) :crying:

Note that members will react to our decissions when they are in our party. Also, concerning longer dialogues with companions, we will get a reminder when they feel like or are ready to talk.

It's a pretty nice change in my oppinion. This way you don't feel like you are bugging them for information all the time while situations are advancing around you :)

Well, I'm used to: "I'm here for you"*esc*"I'm here for you"*esc*... etc.
But yes, It's better (in a way, as I tend to bug them for info:bandit:) that they talk only when they feel like it...

Indeed. I believe that that was one of the reasons they decided to change it up a bit. Funny at first, but then it got weird ;)

So in the new interview, Aveline is mentioned as a favourite (of the ones he can speak of) of David Gaider:

GZ: How about you shoot me your favorite character from Dragon Age II that you can speak of and why any of the side-stories that particularly should be revealed.
David Gaider: Aveline was a bit of a surprise, really. When we first started off, she filled this fighter slot and initially we didn’t know what to do with her. She very quickly grew. It’s one of those situations where if you have a group of writers and they’re all talking and throwing around ideas, eventually you can stumble upon something that gets everybody very excited. Luke Kristjanson wrote her. He’s been working here for a while. He wrote Minsc. He’s been with us since the very beginning. He’s a great writer. He took her and gave her this strong, sisterly vibe and it was really cleverly done and I’m really, really happy with how it’s turned out. A lot of times, it’s very easy for characters to fall into a mode. Sometimes you don’t even intend that. You start writing them in a certain way and then very quickly you find yourself following this familiar path with them. If you see it soon enough you can pull yourself out of it, or sometimes if you don’t go far enough people say, “Well, that’s an archetype.” Sometimes that happens. I think with Aveline, we actually got a nice, solid, strong female character that is neither bit-c-hy nor overtly sexual. I really like where Luke took her. I don’t think people have seen anything like her.

Interesting but I hope the strong sisterly vibe doesn't translate to not being a LI. I mean we already have Beth as sister.

It doesn't have to translate like that. If you choose to look at it either literally or figuratively, I believe you can come to the conclusion that you can relate to her character in a few ways.

By that I suppose Mr. Gaider ment that she would listen, offer advice, be a friend and so on to Hawke. However, seeing that the whole story expands for over a decade, that doesn't mean that such a relationship can't evolve into something more.

From my perspective at least, I think this would make a more deeper experience. And it has a lot of potential.
It's very hard for them to say anything without spoiling the story, so I suspect Mr. Gaider chose his words carefully while answering.
