Off-topic for a second: I couldn't agree more. We have two sides fighting against each other when there is a bigger threat coming from outside the city's walls (qunari invasion anyone?). I strongly believe that this will have a major influence on the conflict because it represents a chance of getting the two sides to work together (however I could be wrong, but that's all up to BioWare). Frankly I see this whole situation like the Quarian-Geth thing. Two sides fighting when... uh-oh, giant sentient machines are coming to wipe everyone out
Back on topic:
Again I'm going to have to agree with you. From a certain perspective I believe that Carver will be extremely important in the subplot if Aveline proves to be a LI (again, we can all hope :innocent: ). By this I mean that Carver might also be competing with Hawke for her, with the advantage of being a warrior, unlike his brother (who, in return is a mage). They all meet from the very beginnning, so why not?
I'll play as a rogue so I won't have to kick Carver's arse and I know Bethany will take one for her dear brother's romance
But the point is that Carver isn't much of a threat as we can see in the rise to power trailer ("...yes, brother")
I dunno, as a youngest sibling myself, resentment builds up pretty quickly when your sibling constantly pulls the older power card. You fold to it for awhile, but before long the situation explodes. No argument is like a sibling argument, because siblings know things about you that a friend would not. Carver doesn't seem like a doormat, it seems he's more...biding his time. Either way, I'm excited for Bethany and Carver.
All this talk of Aveline and Carver is making me think, though. Perhaps if I cannot have Aveline, I will have to set her up with my brother...(strokes imaginary beard) Blastphemy, I know, but I imagine if she is an LI, she'll probably be a heterosexual one, and I intend to play a female game first. (Likely, though, I'll end up running a male mage and a female warrior simotaniously, though. ...I got a lot of time on my hands)
