Maybe not a trailer, but it would be nice to have artwork with the default female Hawke the same day as the trailer. Do you guys at Bioware even have your default female Hawke done yet?

doubt it, i dont think they had concept art for a female warden...

I can't comment on anything else in this thread (because I really don't have the relevant information on any of it!), but I can tell you that on the Cinematic Design team, at least, we're splitting our time about 50/50 between using the Male Hawke and the Female Hawke for iteration. This is to ensure that, in conversation, Female Hawke doesn't end up looking like Male Hawke but with a different model.

Wow, the whining is really coming from all directions...

Seriously, if Hawke was a woman half of that trailer would show us sexy closeups of her bosom and ass. Just so we get the point that she is sexier than Lara Croft and Samus Aran in a latex suit. And this tells us who play games...

If the main protagonist is a woman she is hot and scarcely clad to attract the attention of the nerds. I loved Beyond Good and Evil and in that game the main prot is female and well... plain. I dare say it is a forgotten and underrated game, and that is quite sad. The woman wasn't a bomb and that showed in the number of sales. Still, IMO it's one of the better games of the last decade.

That's why I don't like games with female leads. Because they always turn out sexistic to please the hormonal gamerkids. And I don't want DA to turn into a game they can w*** to. Morrigan was enough.

So true. I lost count of how many times the new trailer said "men" or "man" in it. I get that they pick male concept art since they think more men than women play the games, but it just made me feel like anyone playing as a woman is the dirty little secret.

But "men" could also be referencing the "race of men", meaning humans in general instead of "guy".

it seemed to be a pretty specific use of the term, in reference to Hawke, and not mankind in general or anything like that.

I'm just trying to defend the trailer. :(

Don't get me wrong, I'm going to play the game, and I thought the trailer looked awesome (for something that will have no bearing on actual game play I REMEMBER YOU SACRED ASHES YOU WON'T FOOL ME AGAIN).

But really, considering how many women post to these forms, play the games, etc, it does suck that we're basically ignored.  Or worse.  A male visual and gender neutral pronouns would be ignoring us.  This is actively dismissing us.  I mean, really, does "there are men who" and "there are those who" have such a different meaning?

Fem Hawke was supposed to be in the trailer, she just didn't go because they wanted the Qunari fight to be an epic 1v1 instead of a 2v1.

Is this serious?

[Sten] No. [/Sten].

That's great to hear John. Hope they let you show off your work in one of the trailers before launch.

They did for some of the warden's origin stories (ex. mage and city elf)

I loved this trailer. I love male Hawke. I'm not asking for Dragon Age 2 (Although it would be great if they would make a trailer showing a female Hawke) to be changed around with a canon female. I'm asking for Dragon Age 3, to have the canon character be a female. Or Dragon Age 4. Or 5. I'm asking for female representation in the magazine covers, the first concept art, the story, the trailers, the box art, everything that is usually covered by a male character.

And pretty please, folks, with a cherry on top, don't turn this thread into a flame war or anything even close to it. I just want a show of support for a canon female character for Dragon Age in the future.

Thanks! <3

I'd actually played and completed DAO before seeign *any* of the trailer material. When I did it was like, 'What game is this? Wait, it's Dragon Age!!!?'

Signed so hard.

Dragon Age does not have to be an exclusive game! It's already set up so that women will enjoy playing it (at least DAO is), so really, all the marketing department needs to do is highlight that the game is more than just another generic fantasy hack-and-slash.

Sounds great. I hope she has the same style armor as Male Hawke, please no stupid low cut robes/armor and boobs flapping in the wind. Some of us ladies like our attractiveness to depend on more than our jibblies showing

Aw, that's for telling us that. Great news! Now I can start preparing my list of pet peeves for DA2, beginning with the mincing way FemHawke speaks and acts and smashes skulls. :P

Ha! I wish. Unfortunately, the stuff I'm working on that I'd call 'trailer-worthy' is also 'filled to the brim with spoilers galore'.

I'm really hoping she's a warrior or a rogue then, and not a mage (aside from the special powers we already get to see male hawke using). i really hate the females must be mages/clerics fantasy stereotype. Image IPB

Similarly, some of us get sympathy pains looking at some of the robes. Running around without proper support = world of agony, also not very useful in the whole darkspawn killing thing.

Ah, just do what all trailers do and chop-and-change it all out of context so that it becomes less spoilery and more highly misleading.

Seriously? Comparing people who want to see females included and represented better in media to genocidal maniacs? Nice.
