Maybe not a trailer, but it would be nice to have artwork with the default female Hawke the same day as the trailer. Do you guys at Bioware even have your default female Hawke done yet?

I can't comment on anything else in this thread (because I really don't have the relevant information on any of it!), but I can tell you that on the Cinematic Design team, at least, we're splitting our time about 50/50 between using the Male Hawke and the Female Hawke for iteration. This is to ensure that, in conversation, Female Hawke doesn't end up looking like Male Hawke but with a different model.

That's great to hear John. Hope they let you show off your work in one of the trailers before launch.

Ha! I wish. Unfortunately, the stuff I'm working on that I'd call 'trailer-worthy' is also 'filled to the brim with spoilers galore'.

We like that kind of stuff too Image IPB

Not to mention the deep V neck on some of those robes makes a lovely target to aim at for all those pesky vital organs. "What should we leave uncovered? Oh, the area RIGHT ABOVE THE HEART!" Ah, logic!

Sounds great. I hope she has the same style armor as Male Hawke, please no stupid low cut robes/armor and boobs flapping in the wind. Some of us ladies like our attractiveness to depend on more than our jibblies showing

Similarly, some of us get sympathy pains looking at some of the robes. Running around without proper support = world of agony, also not very useful in the whole darkspawn killing thing.

Didn't seem to be a problem for DAO girls, they had huge boobs made of cement that were apparently also weightless. Sigh. I mean, a strapless bra? Hah.

Yes, I'm still trying to figure out how Morrigan has any support at
all with just... Strings... Because she isn't wearing that funny bra
when she has her robes on, that's for sure.

Sadly, the fem****s probably will find a way to make this a bad thing as well.
"Only 50%?"

Honestly, I don't see a desire for more female-focused attention in development to be an unreasonable request. And this thread has been very reasonable and quite pleasant, really.

It's easy to forget that, for a lot of the population, there's a sizable portion of entertainment that doesn't really take them into consideration. And attempting to ensure that this not be the case is not what I'd classify as something I take umbrage at. If anything, it's good to be reminded that there are all sorts of people who enjoy the work you put out, and who would enjoy it more if you took a little extra time to make it more appealing to them.

Seriously? Comparing people who want to see females included and represented better in media to genocidal maniacs? Nice.

ah don't worry too much about him, he likes antagnozing people and rarely has much to add conversationally.

Isn't' there also that one elven armor which gives women an exposed stomach? Because I know that's one of the areas I want arrows and swords to be hitting!

But anyway, it's good to hear that fem!Hawke is at least getting some attention by the development team.

On the one hand, I appreciate the lack of boob jiggle. On the other, the (human) boobs in DA were pretty badly done, especially in the 'naked' model. Especially since the human females were pretty skinny, but for some reason the default was D-cups that defied the laws of physics. Elves and dwarves had it better, but the bras in general were pretty ridiculous.

Whenever Morrigan takes her clothes off, she puts on weight and a bra to preserve her modesty. Also, bikini tops clearly offer a bunch of support. It's not like a lot of exertion would cause the strings to come undone or anything.

... I think I'm overthinking this. Dear Bioware, can we have some better boob support because I apparently get OCD over the comfort of video game characters.

I support that, OP!

Even if not a trailer, I would love to at least see some concept art for female Hawke (or screenshots).

What a nice and considerate comment.  You are a welcome antidote to the like of Mr. Priestley, Woo and Gaider on this issue, Mr. Epler. :)

We can still play this game as a FemHawke, right?  :P

showcasing a male in trailers and such is more appealing to the masses. It's just the way it goes. There's a reason why there's so few female protagonists in games as it is.

As do I, since I will probably be playing her. But to be honest I want to hear M!Hawke as well as Fem!Hawke. And thank you Mr Epler, it is good to have a non-antagonistic and considerate response to these issues.

Yes, unless you are lucky enough to be a white, heterosexual male.

Be careful what you wish for.

Remember how Morrigan and Leliana were clothed compared to their male counter-parts.

Somehow if, they showed the Lady Hawke, I'm sure she'd be wearing less and parts of her would be anatomically disproportionate.

Yeah, you'd never guess it from the trailer. :| I honestly think in a game like this, it would be better to avoid showing the main character. I don't recall the boxart on Oblivion or Fallout 3 showing you a default character? I realize that DAO is slightly more story driven but still, the side characters are just as important. I'm sure it's no coincidence that Alistair is one of the more popular characters in DAO.

Oh, I don't want boob jiggle. PLEASE GOD, NO. I play a lot of JRPGs and it makes me sick how the boobs move. Like jello molds trapped in a wind tunnel. I just want some nice, natural looking shapes so that I'm not distracted by how wrong they are. And preferably something smaller than a D-cup. I kind of like smaller boobs (at least for elves and humans, dwarf ladies should be stacked) or at least wearing armor that appropriately suits the fact that females have extra stuff on their chest.

Leliana was wearing a Chantry Robe, you couldn;t really get more modest. Though I know exactly what you mean. There is a difference between 'female character designed to appeal to female gamers' and 'female character designed to appeal to male gamers'. At least there is in the minds of most developer art (and I'm not just talking about Bioware here).

I was referring to her outfit in the Sacred Ashes CGI Trailer. Neither the default male Warden nor Sten were jumping around the snowy mountain tops in short skirts.

I think he's talking about SA? However, I'll point out that the most Stripperific of the girls--Morrigan--is actually decently covered up. It's cold out.
