Was the 1.90 million copies sold number over the first week or over the course of a few months? How many did ME1 sell in the time it took for ME2 to get 1.90 million copies sold?
Me 1 sold 2.30 million

What frightens me is that so many gamers want to be in a war simulator.
To each their own. People are different, not everyone likes to read a lot of text and RP. I stick around in communities on the internet where story / RP interested people are. As for other communities, i mostly don't bother , it's boring *yawn* (it's funny, i ask my friends "how can you play that, it's just point and shoot" (shooters), then they ask "how can you read all that text, pretend you play another person", i say "yeah, you made your point, people are different, lets just accept it, and go spot the pretty flowers on the beach").

I am one of the few Fanboys of the 360 that will never allow ANY FPS-WW2 games cross over the threshold of my Condo's front door, let alone allow them to heave their disease ridden discs onto my disc-tray.
The only WW2 based game allowed to enter my 360 is The Saboteur. That is all. CoD can suck on my cod-piece.

Hold up, are people crazy? If me2 sold 2 million at the price of $49.99 the game has made ninety-nine million nine hundred eighty thousand dollars, while I am sure this is not absolutely accurate but as a community wipe the lies off our faces, if this game has sold millions which I am certain it did it's a success.
Wow so you mean all those people worked for free.

For whatever that's worth. The ME series is a hit and a critical darling, but it is not a blockbuster.

The average video game costs only like 50 mil to produce. So ya they made a profit

No
My point is me2 pulled enough numbers to be called a success from a business point of view, and yes, yes I am sure that between the marketing and creation of the game, the whole project cost ea billions......

Of course, you have to factor in the pact that 1 was out longer than 2....But I think EA was hoping it'd outsell 1 pretty quickly, and not be so far behind after all this time.

Mass Effect 1 sold around 400k copies more than Mass Effect 2, yet it would seem Mass Effect 2 was more heavily advertised. 1.9million certainly is not a bad number, but comparing to how much 1 sold with less advertising makes 2 seem to be a bit of a disappointment in terms of sales.
Again this has been brought up alot. ME1 was out a lot longer then ME2, plus saw a nice jump in sales when ME2 was released. Also we dont know the numbers, so stop thinking you do. Some sites say 2 mil, others say 1.7 others say 6.6 (Though I know this is wrong). I dont think you work for MEs marketing division so I dont think you know the numbers. Stop speculating, and saying you have facts when you just dont know

The numbers are taken from VGChartz, which I know are not completely accurate but still, they give you a general idea. I don't pretend to have exact numbers. General ballpark numbers are largely enough.

Could the lower sales have something to do with it being available on pc and xbox at the same time?

Someone should mention, also, that ME2 seems to have sold a fair amount of DLC, making it more profitable. I wish we had some figures on that. "Bring Down the Sky" was free, IIRC, and Pinnacle station only cost about $5.

The bottom falling out of the world's economy probably had a whole lot more to do with it. Game sales are down across the board.

It's all about maximising profit and they've identified a potential market so they are going for it.

However, one this is clear. ME2 was a hugely hyped, massively overrated game that turned out to be nowhere near a top 10 release game. Just because we dont know the exact numbers doesnt mean we cant see that ME2 just cant compete with titles like Red Dead Redemption for example.
Youd think with all that mainstream dumbing down they did, they wanted success that was appraoching that level, but I guess we wont know for certain.
Still, they are clearly very proud of the host of unprofessional perfect scores the game receieved from "professional critics", giving them an "epic" metacritic score at least.
