Spot on! She is not truly ugly in no screenshot. And let's not forget how Morrigan looked in the SA video >< she was NOT pretty! But she ended up quite well. While Leliana was beautiful in the SA video but fugly in the game.
I am talking based on my likings and without MODS!

So, what, are we all going to start pulling out degrees here? I *do* have mine in psychology ...
Yeah well, MY penis is bigge... oh, wait you said degrees? Sorry.
And, really, since the vast majority of people do respond well to physical beauty this is an easy way to help establish the baseline for relationships in a game. Especially since, typically, people are more likely to assume an attractive individual will also be more capable and charismatic, if you want to make a character immediately appealing beauty is your best bet.
That's pretty much exactly what I said. Again beauty and any other kind of appeal do not have to be mutually exclusive.

But we are playing the most important man in the world--his life story. Would you say it's unrealistic for a woman to defeat the Spanish Armada? If we played Elizabeth I's life, that's what we'd do. We're playing Hawke's life.
Elizabeth I didn't defeat the Spanish Armada, her sailors and bad weather did. Just so you know. But that's irrelevant.
Why nobody mentiones Sir Francis Ladykiller Drake??? He was a pirate to boot!
EDIT: Nathan Drake IS his descendent.

It's not the most important part, but it's an important part, and one that's ridiculously easy to implement. It takes exactly 0 additional effort to make an attractive woman vs. an average one. So why not do so?

Joan of Arc if it makes you happier. Nelson Mandela and apartheid, Napoleon conquering Europe, Alexander, Caligula...there will always be famous people doing famous thing.
EDIT: Also, none of those people did it alone--and I'm sure you get companions, don't you? The Warden needed his armies as well.
In the real world you have gorgeous women hanging off every two bit rapper and dime store actor. Are you saying that it's unrealistic for the most important man in the world to have his pick of women? Ever hear of harems and concubines and so forth?
Besides it being ridiculously objectifying, and I think BioWare can be more intelligent than that, my issue isn't that these women exist, it's the claim that your companions should be like them. I assume pirate chick is a companion.

Have to respectfully disagree here.. About Leliana being 'fugly' in game. She was, by far, my favorite character in the game, for both her personality and her looks (which were fantastic, btw). And that's without mods as well. But that's just my opinion (and I'm a bit biased since I have an infatuation with red heads

What?
Sir Francis Drake was Vice Admiral of the English fleet and played a key role in the defeat of the Spanish Armada.
Elizabeth was monarch, but she didn't sink the Spanish ships. I think that was what he was getting at.
But I definitely understand your point.

Again, I'm talking purely about appearance here. They don't have to lose any other personality traits that you find appealing. Repeat after me: ATTRACTIVE DOES NOT EQUAL SHALLOW OR STUPID. I don't understand why that's so difficult for some people to grasp here.

Yet there is nothing simple or straight forward about this. There is so much we are still learning and do not yet know in the field that most assertions boil down to theory and speculation. The study of Psychopathology breaks behavior into Physical, Social and Psychological influences, each of which effects the mind/body dynamic. Brain chemistry only accounts for a percentage of what influences behavior. But, bah, this is seriously the stuff of lengthy essays filled with statistical and observable evidence, and has nothing to do with DA2.

I don't know, I think I can see her face pretty well.
