Yet there is nothing simple or straight forward about this. There is so much we are still learning and do not yet know in the field that most assertions boil down to theory and speculation. The study of Psychopathology breaks behavior into Physical, Social and Psychological influences, each of which effects the mind/body dynamic. Brain chemistry only accounts for a percentage of what influences behavior. But, bah, this is seriously the stuff of lengthy essays filled with statistical and observable evidence, and has nothing to do with DA2.

The fact that your brain is only one part of many contextual and historical factors that go into your behavior has nothing to do with dualism vs. monism. 

That said, acting as though your brain works in a vaccuum, without learning history, environment, context, or cultural background influencing your behavior (or to break it down, the makeup of your neural pathways) is naive and the main flaw of MDs who think fixing brain chemestry (ie pills) will fix psychological disorders.

Finally, a useful interesting conversation in this thread. Bring it! I'm getting my PhD in clinical psychology and I'm dorky enough to be proud of it!
