If there was such a thing like an army of Morrigan's sisters, you could assume that Flemeth is for them the same as the Archdemon is for the Darkspawn.

Spoiler!!!:

Think about it. If the Archdemon dies without been slayn by a Warden, it's reborn in the next avaible Darkspawn.
If Flemeth dies, she's reborn in one of her daughters.
We never learned ton know what kind of abomination Flemeth is. It's unknown what kind of demon possesses her.
I assume Flemeth does not bear a simple pride demon, I think she bears an old god herself without the taint of the Darkspawn. This would explain some of her abilities, like transforming into a dragon, or holding the Darkspawn near her hut at bay.
This also explains her motives in DA:O, she basically wanted to secure the Archdemon without the taint in Morrigan's baby. Flemeth wanted to rescue an old god. This would make more sense if she presents another old god herself.
If Flemeth is similar to an Archdemon/old God than perhaps the Morrigan of the first game is similar to the Archtect from Awakening, an independant spirit who doesn't suit Flemeth's plans.

I like this theory

I rather think that Flemeth has an army in wraps for some crucial moment.. because the Army is not really large.. And they are fighting TEMPLARS.... I doubt its ONLY an emergency storage space (so you may be right!).

So the Chantry is the enemy it seems of concern to Flemeth to reveal them.

The clothes they are wearing are according to me Robes of Possession(s).  So the women need not be her daughters... She may have the power to split her soul into pieces and put them into each of them for later use...

Yay for Flemeths daughters, I wonder who won? Them or that army of Templars?

Wild guess: Hawke will decide.

I mean they're apostates facing Templars, Apostates are not known for their ability to kill templars :P. So I'm guessing Hawke and his possy will be the deciding factor on which side'll win. Prolly easier to side with the templars.

Though I read through this entire thread, I haven't seen this theory mentioned (if it was, I apologize).

The "Morrigan Clone" army appears in a series of flashbacks. What if they simply represent all the daughters of Flemeth she has possessed over the generations - sort of a psychic impression, representation of the cost of Flemeth's "immortality?"

This sequence could appear in a dream, vision or somewhere in the Fade (blurry backgrounds, unfocused image of a dragon, or dragon statue).

This could then represent Hawke's remembering his/her discovery of the true nature of Flemeth and how that revelation changed his relationship with her, possessing her "gift" (assuming the magic glove he is wearing was received from her).

So there is no "real" army of Morrigans - just a long line of women whose bodies were possessed by Flemeth and their spirits sent into the Fade.

Just a thought.

Why are they fighting templars in a flashback WITH flemeth encouraging them from somewhere? No... As compared to other "images" in the flashback (if that's what it is) I would say they represent some form of reality.

But what you say still holds nonetheless... :)

Thats the problem with Blur trailers- some of the stuff may be made up for the trailer or maybe not in the game at all.

But it could be an exaggeration from Varric, maybe its a flashback to an earlier time when Flemeth supposedly raised an army of Witches? Time will tell....

I assume that all the images that flash are Hawke's memories....

i dont think that this fightenig party is an army of morrigans or has anything to do with flemeths daughters.... you know, the story tells us about a civil war in the chantry so i suspect the fighting partys to be members of the chantry. the black dressed women could be parts of the imperial chantry, or cassandra alike inquisitor-whatever-thingies.

Maybe this package you are supposed to deliver is to one of Flemeths daughters?

I think the package term is loose.. But the delivery may in fact be to the Morrigan rebellion inc.

The Army is actually dispersed and is waiting for a particular signal which may be what is assigned to initiate.

I got "rocks fall, Velanna dies." Besides, on a ****iness scale of 1-10, I'd only put Morrigan on 5 since her delivery is funny as well as having some fun Pet the Barkspawn moments. Velanna's an 11 for me, seesawing between Elven Rage and whining about her damned sister. Seriously, if it weren't for the alleged game crash for entering the Silverite cave without her, I'd have just killed her psychopathic little ass.

So you hate her cuz she cares about her people and her sister and is a bit crazy oh you make her out to be the devil :innocent:,

Caring about her people and is a bit crazy doesn't even begin to describe her. She _murdered_ tons of innocents because her people got kidnapped. Did she even make some attempt to track them down? No. She stuck around one spot murdering any humans who got close. She used them as an excuse to go on a reverse-racist murder rampage.

The sad thing about it is, she doesn't get any better. Morrigan at least has really witty conversations with partymates like Sten, Alistair (if you're romancing her) and Leliana (especially if you're romancing both of them) and especially Dog, where you can see some of her soft spots breaking through the **** barrier. Velanna on the other hand? 100% Pure **** wall. No redeeming qualities, no wit, no nothing. She doesn't even have interesting party banter. It's like BioWare, in their haste to fill the ****y mage quota, forgot to add the usual hidden depths that make such characters interesting.

I guess this boils down to, if ever you're an evil person, you might as well be witty while doing it, not act like a religious nutcase on a murder rampage.

For all we know this could be an army of Apostates really. But I don't think it would be hundreds of Morrigans really. "Maybe her sisters". For all we know IT IS MORRIGAN. And she comes back to fight Flemeth. There are many possibilities. But she's my mate so were cool...she's not Hawke's mate so thats a problem (forgot DA2 was Hawke not Warden lol)

Sorry for the confusion. Morrigan is being used as a generic name. It simply means a daughter of Flemeth.

Daughters of Flemeth are ALWAYS described as Dark Haired Exotic beauties.

I smell and good old fashioned orgy brewing here. Either that or Blur just used Morrigan's old model because they're costly as hell to create. Hmm, first one seems more logical.

I would hate it if I was forced into siding with the loathsome chantry because the only alternative was somehow advancing the agenda of a bunch of sociopathic nihilistic nietzche-wannabe witches.

I doubt you will be forced to do anythingof that sort .

And Nietzche was NOT a Nihilist. He was actually against  Nihilism. He just propounded Nihilism as a threat to Humanity.

I was using "nietzche-wannabe" in the perjorative sense. Those who talk about ubermensches and such without actually understanding or getting to know his actual philosophy.

300 Morrigan Clones: "Tis cold in my tent all alone..."
Hawke: " !!!"

But yeah, I'm thinking Blur maybe just reused Morrigan's Sacred Ashes model to represent an apostate army or something...

One thing bothers me: Why are all these "clones" women? If they are apostates then we would have some Male Blur clones too..... That is ONE reason I think they are like that on purpose.

Secondly, Flemeth does seem to be commanding them in the cutscene flash back....

The ideas of Nietzche and Darwin are more abused and distorted than a japanese school girl in a bad h-game in the modern era. ;)

The second morrigan said "survival of the fittest" I instantly hated not only her, but also whoever wrote her. That phrase flips my "rage switch" whenever it is said unironically.
