A lot of the storyline revolves around killing Howe (as a rogue), for revenge for him killing your father.

So I was rather excited when I got to the "Rescue the Queen" quest, but when it came down to killing him, nothing "crazy" happened. I expected a cutscene where my character takes the finishing blow into Howe, but instead I just get Howe's self-obsessed crap about "deserving more".

Just felt like a lot of the meaning from the start of the game faded for human noble/rogue.

I thought it was fitting.

Watching that arrogant turd, gurgle his last breath, knowing that he had failed and been broguht down by the son of his hated rival, was just awsome.

Yeah, but that same cutscene occurred with my elf mage, who had met Howe only once before, and had no real "issue" with him.

You could put a request up on the nexus, or here in the toolset area for the nice folks to make a modded cutscene.

For me all the impact of that quest came from the conversation with Howe just prior. No character has ever made me see red like Howe did, all that crap about being Bryce's little spit-fire and how mad he got when he couldn't get a rise out of my girl. He's lucky she didn't hear his lines about how he killed her parents...

It wasn't such a big deal that there was no special ending for me because the confrontation before it was really emotional.

I guess so. The intro conversation was entertaining, but I'd like to see him beheaded.

I did ensure I killed him though. Set my team to "Hold Position" and made them all leave the room, then beat the crap out of Howe.

On my first Origins playthrough, I was a little underwhelmed. I guess that because the (HN) game starts so dramatically, you expect a really big payoff later, but then focus shifts to the Blight and Loghain's regency, and Howe's demise is rather low key compared to the Landsmeet and the final battle.

My runs through are now in double figures so I enjoy Howe's death scene for what it is, but I see the problem. On first play, I saw Howe (not Loghain, and certainly not the AD) as the main villain, because it was personal to me. I suppose those who chose DN as their first run may have similar feelings about Bhelen (at least CEs can kill Vaughan during their origin).

God, when he says 'You turned your back on Orzammar when you killed our brother!' to my framed DN I had never been more ready to kill him and that was my SECOND playthrough. Oddly enough, though, I still love the character.

I'm disappointed with that as well, would really like to bow down to him as he is lying there and saying.. Now for your family before snapping his neck or something along those lines.. And then actually be able to do kill off his family.

TELLING Howe you're going to kill his family is fine in my books. ACTUALLY doing it? They had nothing to do with your family's death and you officially lose all claims to the moral high ground by doing it. And no, 'he started it' does not let you keep it.

Howe's wife could have been killed prior to Howe. But his daughter should have lived.

This leaves a huge plot opening to allow you to repent to her, then you two have something in common (both parents murdered.) And a whole new quest to become BFFLs.

No really though, Howe needed a worse death. Like, that torture chamber? Yeah.

Why would you feel the need to repent to Howe's daughter? And if you want a Howe to feel sorry for, then play Awakenings.

I wasn't saying from a personal perspective. I was pointing out that BioWare could easily have made some DLC out of it.

And I'll get Awakening when I get paid.

You know, you are awfully direct. Comes off a bit strong.

Yes, I think the final confrontation has room for improvement, but I was not totally bummed on my Noble playthrough since I have completed the game beforehand a few times and knew the results.

I will say his opening lines fueled my PC's rage towards Howe, especially about my noble's mother kissing his boots before killing her. My 2H warrior equiped the "Cousland Sword & Shield" set and planted Howe's rear end to the ground, while the rest of the party handled the other trash.

While saying his final words, I wish I could run up and shield bash his head to the ground, but since he is a rat, he is not worthy of a death blow. I have not yet started awakening but I bet several juicy dialogue options will open up between my PC and Nathaniel.

A whole DLC out of it may be a bit much, but then again I'm not sure what these Feastday DLCs are about.

And yeah, I probably am direct. Have to be when you grow up with two older brothers. ;)

I have a younger sister. All I learned to do is lock my door.

And most gaming companies could make a DLC about anything,

I've always wished that a HN would have the extra option of interrupting Howe as he's delivering his "Maker spit on you" line. Shoving the Cousland sword down his throat before he could finish that line would've been the sweetest form of revenge.

I actually once had an idea for a Howe death cutscene where the HN would get to deliver a blow for each loved one they lost on that horrible day. Not just their parents but also the people they grew up with. Dog would also have some action in that cutscene.

Still, getting to make Howe ****** himself by giving him the "Cousland glare" is pretty good.

You meet Howe's daughter Delilah in Awakening and she doesn't recognize you if you're a HNM (and talks about you like you're not there until you identify yourself) so it would make no sense to make one with her and the Warden pre-Awakening and in Awakening she also has no problem with you killing Howe so there's no point in doing one about it afterwards.

Don't have Awakening, so I wouldn't know.

I do actually wish for a new cutscene for Howe's death using the Cousland sword. It's not like there aren't a bazilliion other plot hammers, daggers, and swords during the game. Maybe someone who knows the cutscene editor could make one.

Shows how much I paid attention to that quest. I totally forgot about seeing her until you mentioned it.
