Being that Mass Effect 1 is possibly my favorite game of all time I'm going back to it once again, and staying for a while (until lvl 60). This will be a full renegade(except I will save Rachni) playthrough(s), should be very exciting.:devil:

However I've only had one Adept playthrough in ME1 so I don't know as much about builds as you guys. The powers are already epic, but what are the best talents for tanking? Bastion? Barrier? I don't recall ever using barrier or stasis. Is stasis any good? Which bonus talents if any?

Shotgun adept should be great.And you can avoid to put points in basic armor with a weapon bonus talent.

If you choose Bastion, Stasis goes from being a great skill to being an incredible skill.  Even 1 point in it will show results, though it's certainly worth mastering.  Barrier is fantastic for survival.  You'll want it for higher difficulty levels.

BASTION STASIS is ridiculous.

I played adept quite a bit in ME1. This is my completely biased opinion about powers:

1. Barrier. Keep this up at all times and level it up all the way. You will be nearly invulnerable if you do. It is buffed immensely if you choose Bastion.

2. Lift. This works on absolutely anything but floating enemies. Incredible crowd control skill, get this one.

3. Singularity. Best ability for mopping up weaker enemies. Also hilarious to watch.

4. Throw. Good, but ultimately it's not really necessary since by the end of the game, your other biotics will recharge so fast you can basically spam them. I consider this a low priority.

5. Stasis. Get the skill if you are going for Bastion, avoid like the plague if you don't. You mileage may vary, but I find it downright annoying without the Bastion special.

6. Warp. Get this to the most advanced level. It's crap as a nuke, but it provides an insane debuff that's generally always worth it on tough enemies. Note that you don't necessarily need it on Shepard, but you should always have a Warp in your squad.

class special: Bastion or Nemesis?
I'd say the cooldown reduction and the immense buffs for Stasis and Barrier make Bastion the better choice.

Sounds like I'll be going bastion. Are pistols good enough, or should I use assault rifles? I have no idea what happened to my vanguard save, I don't have shotguns available for bonus talent.

I took assault rifles as a bonus talent to avoid putting 5 points into Basic Armor to boost pistols.

Pistols do have slightly superior DPS though when using the final Marksman skill, so some people prefer them. I still find assault rifles nicer to use though.

Be a vanguard in ME1 instead of an adept, and then become an adept in ME2. The vanguard in ME1 is the best class in the game (best meaning most efficient). Pistols are the best weapons for DPS in ME1, so make sure you upgrade up to master marksman. Other powers you should have fully upgraded include: Assault training, nemesis, lift, warp, throw and singularity (your bonus talent). Your primary squadmates should be Garrus and Wrex. Garrus has the best +damage of your entire squad (under shepard), and wrex is your second warp. They both have access to assault rifles, and will eventually be able to fire the assault rifles non stop (by using frictionless materials X and rail extension VII/scram rail X) once you get the spectre assault rifles. With this combo, all you need to do is plant a singularity in the middle of whatever room you're in, point Garrus and Wrex in the middle of said room and hose everyone down. Since you have access to nemesis lift you can effectively lift a geth colossus, and with access with adrenaline burst, you can keep it in the air while you and garrus+wrex unload on it. Everything just goes down so fast on ME1 insanity with this combo, and no other class combination that's as efficient at killing anything as fast as the vanguard.
