Since the Wardon is done, I guess it's a safe bet to delete that DAO or anything that deals with the warden off your computer, Xbox360 or ps3, I mean it came right from David's words, thats a damn shame, all that money into this game, and with hope of more of your story. blah. What a waste of time.

Oh, I guess all the hours you spent having fun and enjoying the story was a "waste of time"? Don't be a baby.

You guys do know that DA:O DLC is still incoming, right? Supposedly even after DA2 launch, DA:O will still have DLC released. They did say two full years commitment for DLC for DA:O.

I would expect another expansion to bring closure to DA:O.

Um... my "main" Warden died killing the Archdemon... that's pretty much closed. Some need to be reminded that their Warden wasn't canon.

The orlesian warden survived....They will probably let you import your dead guy anyway....

The topic was DA ORIGINS. And letting you import the dead Warden is beside the point. THAT part of the story - if I so choosed that my Warden should make the ultimate sacrifice - is closed/over.

Now if I wanted to UNDO that choice (i.e. not make the ultimate sacrifice), then, obviously, the story would not end there. Since it is however, a choice, maybe I'd choose not to undo my Warden's sacrifice... no closure needed.

EDIT

To clarify. My problem was that user "nisallik" defined the DAO experience as "needing closure" which is simply not true for all.

Golly, some of you people need to get an imagination.

My warden lived a good solid six years after the archdemon went down. She wandered Thedas, recruiting as she went, before she died of the taint in her sleep. The end.

I don't want another game to say "JUST KIDDING THERE'S MORE TO YOUR STORY. LET'S DRAG IT OUT A LITTLE MORE." I like the freedom to create my own ending.

Are you aware that you can import your DAO save game into DA2? Your choices in DAO can have an affect on the DA2 story and characters, even if you aren't using the same PC. There is also more DLC to come for DAO, if you're interested.

If you're not, however, you're free to do as you wish with your DAO saves. One assumes, from what you've said, that you enjoyed DAO. I can only imagine that enjoying a game that much isn't a waste of time, and that maybe what you enjoyed was the story you experienced there (and completed) as opposed to solely the promise (imagined or otherwise) of that character's continuation.

It's strange for people to complain of the Warden's story not importing (nevermind the fact that it can be imported). Dragon Age: Origins, if I recall, prior to it's release had never been said to be a game that one could import into other games.

We are entitled! BioWare, once you do something, you must continue to include it! No cop-outs!

It's not that strange. Origins more or less ends with the main character doing the proverbial walk into the sunset (if they didn't die outright) and a promise that they go on to "other adventures". For some people, they took that as "my character will appear in the sequels"-- whether that's a justifiable expectation or not.

For others, the Morrigan romancers in particular, they feel they didn't have enough closure. Rationally or not, many of them seem to expect that this meant their Warden should carry into the sequel because they still have business to finish with her.

I don't mind that. "Always leave them wanting more" is not a bad way to go. ;)

And who's to say they won't get some of those things? Just not in DA2. Like you said, however, the decisions you make in DAO can still have an effect if you import them into DA2. But people will want what they want regardless.

Although I'm wondering what ending they would assume was chosen if I imported DA:O into DA2 with an US warden and progress in Awakening. Like.. would my Warden still be considered alive and it isn't explained why? Would it assume I did the Dark Ritual instead? Would it just pretend that Awakening never happened?

I was actually shocked when they announced that decisions in Origins were being imported.

Ah, so there was a "the tale of this hero is not yet finished" thing in the ending epilogue? I had forgotten that. Still, I found people being a bit overreactive, like Bioware would be personally antagonizing them if they did not allow DA:O to import into DA2.

Here are the epilogues for Awakening involving the Warden.
