I always thought it would be an interesting concept if hawke ends up fighting the warden because flemeth convinced hawke to kill him/her in order to exact her vengeance for getting killed in the first one. Honestly though i'm going with the warden all the way. We know next to nothing about Hawke and i can't believe that people are so quick to bash the warden because of a two minute trailer that showed hawke fighting a qunari. The game probably won't play out like that at all; the trailer is all flash. Granted i know its a little early to say that hawke won't be as much of a badass as the warden, but i'm not going to sit there and take everything away from the warden because of hawke's eyes glowing red and him casting some spell.
I don't think that the Warden will ever be what he /she once was and as I have said..the warden will be killed off so David will not have to deal with that point anymore and I would not be in shock if they leave you with no choice but to kill him/her. I have said that the day of a fall away from all that you have done will amount to nohting. It is all abot Hawke and Felmeth now and the path is picked and that is of evil I have no dought that they will make you kill your own character and Morrigan will have none to protect her. It sucks but you can see where this is going and to make you play a character that does such a thing, I would turn off the game right there and makes me think not to buy it for that fact. I have no reason to kill off the character I have grown to love and his/her friends, I would never kill Morrigan just to help them in their power play for Hawke, the hell with that.

And what's this about Hawke killing the Warden? Entirely groundless speculation.

Especially since the Warden may already be dead.

I have as many dead wardens as I do alive. (a few king and queen wardens also)

In short, Warden=failure, Hawke=Chuck Norris incarnate.

Aye, but she was wearing more in that trailer. Maybe that gave her an edge.

Trailer Hawke > Trailer Warden, for sure. If we're just going by rule of cool, anyway.Man, I felt I got too MUCH closure with Morrigan. It wasn't tragic enough! You were far too nice to us. Couldn't you have been crueller? Perhaps rendered every male PC Warden infertile, thus forcing Alistair/Loghain to be the Archdaddy? I would have cackled through the tears! Cackled!David Gaider wrote...
For others, the Morrigan romancers in particular, they feel they didn't have enough closure.
It would have been a kick in the teeth, sure, but the kind of kick in the teeth I -- for one -- would have really appreciated.
I get the feeling this is a little too real for most people, I can attest myself and several of my friends can honestly say pretty much all relationships end without enough closure.

Who says it would take away from the story if we kept the former protaganist?
Lots of sequels keep the same protaganist from one story to the next. It helps if there's a story for that protaganist to continue. In this case, the Warden's story is done. You were there to kill the Archdemon and you did. We could move onto another story with the Warden if we wished to, but we didn't. We chose to move onto a new protaganist (which some sequels do, if you weren't aware).
I can understand how some people would disagree with this, especially the comment that "The Warden's story is done..." as some kind of line in the sand argument to those who would like to see at least one more ( decent length ) outing for the Warden.
Not least because the epilogues to both Origins and Awakening suggest there is more...to quote from several variants of the Awakening epilogue..
"A few years later, the Warden vanishes. Nobody knows why, but "neither does anyone think her tale is complete..."
Given that statement is used in several different endings, it begs resolution and does not imply the Warden's story is done. Some people might feel cheated there..
There are epilogue descriptions from Origins that point to the Warden having further adventures with their lover. ( Leliana, for example ). That, at the very least would have been one way to give a satifsfactory conclusion to their characters tale. An well constructed expansion ( of good length ) primarily centered around the Warden and their romantic partner could have been an absolute gem. ( one of the problems with games like this that have romance options in the game ( and Mass Effect too ), is that the character development gets to the interesting point re relationships just as the game ends....and is then not continued )
So given the epilogues pointed at a tale not yet fully resolved, it is sad that the official line is now "its all over".
And, if as some have suggested, the implication of the 'shock' ending of the Golems DLC is that the Warden and co died horribly 'off camera.' beyond the players control well thats just cheating and a bit disingenuous. But I'm sure thats just speculation.

Having spared Avernus in Soldiers Peak, his research pays dividends, Wardens ( including mine ) are now spared the previously inevitable fate that would result from drinking Darkspawn blood and she does a Ben Kenobi and wanders off into the wilderness.
Perhaps returning many years later to smite Hawke when Hawke becomes a corrupt ruler. For this we will have to wait for a competent third party ( other than Bioware ) to write the story, hire the voice actors and put it all together.
Something like that

Hell no. Hawke hardly beat one Qunari. The Warden killed an Archdemon. Warden still wins from what we know.
Hawke was solo and level one. Warden was level 20+ and had three companions.
Wrong. Hawke was fighting what is likely a Templar (He dispeled Hawkes fire attack) Qunari in melee combat, thus he had to be an Arcane Warrior (He wouldn't have been able to keep up so well otherwise), later on he used Blood Magic, he had to be a Blood Mage. Two specializations = High Level Hawke.

The Warden. Easily. Hawke; kills the Arishok sure. Basically he kills a qunari. The Warden is the only being to have existed that has survived killing an Old God. You kinda can't compare the two.
