I couldn't agree with you more--the tragedy of the Calling and all of that, as well as the possible resolution of the entire threat that started the Wardens in the first place with Awakening--all of that was the Warden's story. That's what made the DAO Warden special!-k-a-t-e- wrote...
The wardens story is over, stopping the blight was his/her 'moment' in history. There are many other stories to tell I would imagine, Thedas doesn't revolve around the warden. And just because they choose to tell a different story doesn't diminish the warden's in any way, just as the warden's story didn't make Marric's or Andraste's accomplishments any less.
I don't really care about comparing Hawke with the Warden. I'm just glad Hawke isn't a Warden, because if he was, it would take away everything that encapsulated the Warden's experience. It would just be, "Oh, you're always a Warden, it's not special. It's just a default protagonist element." No way. The Warden is The Warden and not merely DAO's protagonist for a reason! I want it to stay that way. I want new stories to be told in a rich and ever-changing universe.

Was the Warden "your guy" before you played as him? I can't imagine that he was--why not give Hawke the same chance?

People seem to believe that the last name being mentioned in dialogue removes belief that it's your character for some reason. Apparently my Cousland or Tabris never had last names.

Because Hawke is voiced. I don't want some other dude's voice on "my guy" and I doubt that we will get as much dialog time too... now that Hawke is voiced.Saibh wrote...

Plus you cant pick your Origins.
Don't get me wrong, Hawke is badass but he is not "my guy"
Too me it just feels like im being pulled away from my character in Origins and forced to play as BioWare's.

You do realize that the Warden was technically BioWare's character, as well? Aeducan, Brosca, Cousland, Tabris, Amell, Surana, Mahariel - doesn't matter, really. Still BioWare's character. Having a voice over doesn't change the fact that it's still a stationary character.UberDuber wrote...

the Warden took down a dozen darkspawn and a dragon.
Hawke nearly got beaten by a single Quanari.
alright, the warden had 3 more people at his side, but still.
edit: i'm comparing Sacred Ashes with Destiny here.

Its funny but David Gaider hates the Warden and you can tell when anyone wants the Warden back, when point of fact should have never of been taken away, but he brings in this bum that should have been killed by darkspawn to be better then any person in the DAO legend and to boot, make him the one that changes the world "FOREVER".
It's like saying we don't want spiderman to be in the world anymore and we bring in bugman, thats just how Hawke compares to the Warden, oh and if it pisses David off about that, well hell my boy, you should have made it Hawke from the get go. blah.
I hate the Warden?
Because clearly the only reason to move onto a new hero was because I hate the old one? Because Hawke is my precious baby (even though the Warden was just as much mine as Hawke is)?
I feel like I wandered into "I forgot to take my meds" land again.
Lmao, Owned.

The Warden did nothing, he stood there while the group downed the Dragon. He killed maybe two-three Darkspawn.

Actually, it was seven. Not counting the dragon finishing blow.

Also, Warden had teamates, if Hawke attacked one the others would help. Morrigan with Ice freezes hawke solid, Warden wins. Leliana turns Hawke into a pincushion, Warden Wins. Sten stabs Hawke to death, Warden wins. Warden stabs Hawke himself, Warden Wins.
Hawke attacks one target with the evil arms, others kill Hawke, Warden wins.
Not to mention actual gameplay of the Warden could destroy Hawke. Mage Warden trumps all.
EDIT: for the record, im not caring about a 1 on 1 scenario. Im caring about what we know from only the trailers. Warden had a team, Hawke did not.

I don't really understand it, either. I mean, I liked my Warden, but it would be pretty hard for me to play DA2 without Hawke, since my Warden is dead.David Gaider wrote...

Sorry, David you must be right, I will take that hit as I also said you hated the Warden. oh and yea I must of had a bad day and didn't take the "happy day med". No just some of us know that when the warden is even in thought and brought up, it seems to ****** you off, you would soon forget about a character that took alot of time to build and HAS alot left in the tank but you can throw your, meds day all day long. I hope you at least give some damn end for Hawke and don't ride the money cane pole and then go, well hes just left and now DA3 has this bloody bum in it.
I really wonder why do you as others think, if you keep a certain character, that it somehow takes away from the story or get dull? It's all in how you put the story, why always a new character, it's the way games have gone for years, do people have no faith in their own product? Is it easy to just come up with all new and dash out the old?
But when anyone will bring up some real concerns, it's a all med day thing. Damn, should I take the red or blue med, damn the flux of my time.

Hawke is as much your char as the Warden is. You get to pick Hawke's gender, what he/she looks like, how he/she fights, and his/her actions. Voice, smoice. Your character said things in Origins too, just not in dialogue.
