This time, I tried to marry anora and alistair (which didn't work.) and made Loghain a Warden.
Alistair "left"
My question is, did alistair bail permanently?

Although D. Gaider has said that Alistair will come to regret it.
Also you have to harden Alistair to get him to marry Anora and keep Loghain.

Is it worth going back one save (as I did save before the landsmeet) and redoing it?
Or will it really matter in the longshot? (longshot being DLC's, Awakening etc. Since I don't have any of those.)

You harden Alistair during his personal quest with his sister (gack)Tadpradel wrote...

Just make another warden to get different endings.
Or do multiple saves to see all the permutations, either way works.

Depends. If you do RtO, then you can take Loghain and Wynne instead of Alistair and Wynne. I haven't played Awakenings with Anora as queen, mostly because my only save had Alistair as king, but I don't know what the difference would be. I doubt either has much impact on the actual gameplay.Tadpradel wrote...

You already made Alistair king once. Let him become a drunk on this playthrough.

It depends entirely on how you feel about it personally. The game can be equally interesting either way, er, from what I'm told. You couldn't pay me to spare Loghain.

Well I didn't want to sacrifice morrighan this time, and I'm surely not gonna die. So I'ma throw Loghain up there
Alistair can enjoy drinking.

Mmk. Well I plan on playing through the game multiple times, with multiple other characters. I guess this time It'll be Loghain, Leliana, Morigghan, and Me for the final battle.Zjarcal wrote...

Glad I made you laugh!
And if you intend to play the game several times (as you should) then that's reason enough to do things differently on each playthrough, regardless of how your companions react. Dealing with the consequences of your actions is part of the fun after all.

Yeah I know, but I felt a certain bond with Alistair, seeing as we'd stayed together so long.
But in hindsight, he did always die first in battle...

I always left him sword and board, put all his points into STR and DEX, then gave him the Lifegiver ring (+10 CON) once I got to Orzammar. More than a few times he was the last one standing in my playthroughs. (Just being direct, sorry.)Tadpradel wrote...

It's fine. And I boosted him to about 40 str, then got him to 40 con. Although with juggernaut and he survived well, but having a mage, an archer, and a rogue, he basically got raped.

I did it JUST so I could see the Alistair drunkard ending.

Dex helps him with the shield and keeps him from getting hit instead of taking it right on the head. I haven't had much luck getting people to stay alive longer with Con, because you're better off wielding your weapons effectively and avoiding getting hit altogether, and that's where Dex comes in. I always got his Str up to 42 so he can wear the best armor, and then put the rest of his points into Dex.Tadpradel wrote...

Alistair's actually a great tank in my games.

^This is the only reason why the first DA2 game I may be importing is the drunk Alistair ending. (Otherwise it'll be default. I really don't care about the outcome of templars/mages, elves/werewolves, etc.) I figured there'll be plenty of people to report on a world where there's King Alistair and Warden Alistair. There is nothing of drunk Alistair outside of origins, btw. He is absolutely not acknowledged in Awakening or otherwise. I'd be curious if drunk Alistair has a small cameo, but alas, he'd only see Hawke, not my warden. Que sera, sera.Shadow of Light Dragon wrote...
There's a chance you might see him in DA2, I suppose. The drunken wanderer in the epilogue slides eventually ends up in Starkhaven, which is in the Free Marches.

1 - Stop him from drinking, talk him into being a Grey Warden again (or at least talk him into being a kick-ass warrior again).
2 - Talk him into going back to Ferelden (Why? Depends on how the Blight ended, if Loghain still lives, if he was friendly/involved or even hostile with the PC Warden. Returning could be for revenge, closure or something else.)
3 - (if Hawke is a complete douche) Goad Alistair into suicide.
