the code for the PS3 version was in the PC version of Mass Effect 2 so its not a surprise that EA was going to do this. I fully expected this to happen when EA bought Bioware. The only real thing that is sad that Microsoft is now clearly holding the publishing rights to ME 1 for pure exclusivity to the 360 nothing else or really does not care about getting the publishing rights to ME 1

I don't get why this really upsets people. ME2 is a great game and this will give more people access to play it. I own both consoles and I don't really intend on buying for PS3 but I think it's cool for people that just have the one to be able to get it now. If anything, there's probably gonna be alot of PS3 owners who feel like theyre being shorted because they won't have access to ME1 so they're kinda stuck with the canon storyline from the first game.

I'm actually interested to see if the graphics will be better on PS3 or not. Generally PS3 exclusives look better than anything on XBOX but multiplatform game look and play better on 360.

Mgs4 and uncharted both look better than anything on 360 but I think 360 has a larger selection a better games. Both exclusive and multi platform.

I wonder if they have to purchase Cerberus network for dlc

They they should buy the 360, or go play it a friends house.

But you dont see me complaining about INfamous.... it sucked it didn't get ported over, but if I want to play the first one, I get the ps3 simple.... then again some say "dont care if the third game gets dragged down I want my own me1 little story.

I dont mind any game being on any platform, my only beef is Bioware taking the time to potty train PS3 gamers because the poor lot so tragically didn't got a chance to play ME1.

Effort should be made in all its weight to make the next game better, not to spend time telling people what happended before, save the developers time, money and effort, and wiki the game.

Just like we have a menu that tell us what we "chose" in ME1 with our alignment, council survival wrex etc. Give them the same menu, but for them, have that menu have scroll downs of the options avilable, there, problem solved. They get access to previous options, and not much time is wasted, on what the gamers of the console can find out by just googling ME wiki

If a company says they won't do X and then do it anyway , it makes it difficult take anything they say seriously in future.

This again. Go back and read what was actually said the two times the PS3 rumor got some sort of official response:  there was never any promise made that the 360 and PC would always and forever be the only platforms graced by ME2.

The first time, they shot it down because a lot of people thought it was going be released at the same time as the PC/360 versions, and it was that idea specifically that got shot down. They had to quash it because some online retailers were actually listing it for the PS3.

The second was about a month after release, after people found the PS3 references in the game code.  The "official" response said "Mass Effect is for the PC and Xbox 360."  Which, of course, it was.   Also, I put "official" in quotes because that response was from Chris Priestly, who manages this here Social site, and it was given on this here Social site.  That's hardly equivalent to, say, Casey Hudson making a statement about it to the gaming press.

BTW, guess what?  Microsoft does stilll control the fate of ME1:

"And the original Mass Effect is absolutely an Xbox 360 exclusive,
making Xbox 360 the only place to get the full Mass Effect experience,"
the company added.

Of course, they're ignoring the PC version, but that platform isn't a console, so the exclusivity agreement doesn't apply. Obviously, given that EA,  not Microsoft, released ME1 PC.

Companys, corporations and politcians are always saying we will never do XYZ. Then the very next day they go and do XYZ. When asked why? they always say "Ah due to a change/unforsceen circumstances, we've now decided to do XYZ and its greart"

Its just life.

As long as all systems (Xbox, PC, and PS3) get the same content, what's the problem?

Yeah, PS3 getting the game is a good thing. I know what I want.

I want ME3 to be the most kickass BW game to date. I want to see most squadmates return, and for the rest to have a good amount of interaction with the player. I want banter and a "living" ship rich with dialogue and inter-squad interactions, not "can it wait a bit, I'm in the middle of some callibrations" x9000 and standing in place all day every day.

I want exploration with the Hammerhead. I don't want cookie-cutter module-style on-rails type levels. I want a richer, more sensible inventory system and more useful equipment, not hundreds of junk iterations of the same three weapons. I want mods and gadgets that can customize equipment to be more unique or useful. I want more and interesting skills. I want resolutions and consequences to past-made decisions to be more than a non-interactible email or a passing non-interactible NPC "cameo."

I want meaning and purpose and depth and impact. I want the end of my ME3 game to be potentially significantly different from another player's based on our different decisions. I don't want a scrolling-text ending ala DA:O, I want cinematics that are applied depending on my choices and outcomes.

Will I get everything I want? Most likely not. Will you get everything you want? Most likely not. Do you want the same things I want? Maybe, maybe not. But there's one thing I think we can all agree on, and that is that we all want ME3 to be the most kickass game it can be.

But it WON'T be anything like that if it doesn't have the budget necessary for such a project. BW, and ME in particular, NEEDS a larger audience if there is any hope to have such a game. Voice actors cost money. Development costs money. If attracting more sales means giving PS3 users a GOTY-style edition (and possibly an abridged version of ME1 included) then yes, I am perfectly fine with that. Even if I paid full price for the game and then DLC.

Why? Because I don't give a rat's ass about console wars and petty superiority complexes and self-righteous entitlement syndromes. I care about helping BW be able to make the absolute best, most comprehensive and epic ME game it can. And that means buying the game, DLC and their store goods. That means going out there and welcoming and encouraging PS3 gamers with open arms, and helping them to see why this series is so awesome. It's about generating a larger audience and making fans out of them. It's about the big picture.

thats coz today;s society can't fix their own damn things to save their life...

I gotten 3 of em, and I the last two.... after experiencing a damn month and a half to wait for the damn thing, the next two times I did it myself. Is either a bag plug, a loose wire, an overly heated chip... and FYI I have no training in electronics, engineering, computer programing.

All I see is... hmmm is that loose? "press down"...well what do you know it works.

For example, your PC: You have your ram cards loose, for some reason and your PC freezes, never starts, makes funny startr up noices... that can be consider "death state"... all you do is make sure everything is tight, and presto.

Most "problems" with most hardware is the simple fact that today nobody cleans or maintains their own equipment.

Is it any different for your car? if you never cleaned it, changed its oil, changed the tires, check the coolant... would it be hard to imagine it breaks down?.

Now yes, given console are made so that you never have to do that... complacency in my view.

PS: you can always fix your xbox, no matter what it is, no matter how old.

AS long as you do 3 things:
A. never smash the damn thing
B. bought it knew, and is not more than 3 years old
C. You open it regularly and spray the thing with oxygen.

I still got my innitial xbox, bought it as soon as 360 came out, still works like a charm.

all they can do is talk all that sh*t about Mass Effect 1 is only on 360 but in reality Mass Effect 1 is on the PC so Microsoft has no real exclusive. the cry babies at Microsoft need to deal with the fact that its all but a given Mass Effect 3 will be on the PS3 the same day now.

Agreed ppl are morons when it comes to fixing their things. my 360 was a 3rd generation bought on ebay never had any probs with it . then at the end of last year it got the RROD. yes at first i freaked out but then i was like take a chill pill and go search on google.

at first i found that stupid towel wrap fix and was about to do it when i read on another site that it could fry ur xbox. so i kept searching and found a video on how to replace the xclamps on the heat sinks with machine screws. it was so simple it was retarded lol. all in all it cost under $10 to fix my xbox. i only had to go to home depot and radioshack.

so yeah most ppl are just retarded and dont know how to take care of their system. and you dont need to be a rocket scientist to fix it either.

and to the butthurt legions of console fanboy's:  get over it.

At least they didn't go quite as far as Valve and act as though the announcement was going to be something groundbreaking.

EDIT: lol, console wars
