And yet ironically enough the only people who could get me to pay for an play an MMO are the team of BioWare and LucasArts. WoW doesn't count--my boyfriend's financing that because he wants to kill more monstars with mebiomag wrote...

Hell is other people, eh? Funnily enough, there IS a Dragon Age MMO. It's called Dragon Age's tabletop roleplaying game + Gametable. Heaven forbid that we should use our own imaginations for this type of stuff.
You can't compare a MMO to a tt rpg... If your TT-RPG group sucks, its your fault. You put them together you can send them to hell... MMO on the other hand... well, I really don't want to spend time with people from this board when I am playing ME or DA...

Ah, you may have misunderstood. I was just being glib, that's all. Silly internet and its inability to convey prosody.
As for playing with other people, my foray into the alarming morass of humanity that is WoW has taught me some things about MMOs:
1) The "ignore" button is your best friend
2) The ability to actually ignore everything from abject idiocy to minor slights is worth more than any epic level gear
3) Playing with people you know and like in a persistent world is FUN. Lots of fun. Weird.

I don't know if Dragon Age would be a good MMORPG. Especially going from only showing us small chunks of Ferelden and the Free Marches to having a whole explorable world would be a bit of a big step.

Right now (based on ME2 and what we know about DA2) Bioware seems to be moving away from story telling for more actiony/combat driven games.
MMOs that only have combat and no detailed backstory (SWG) fail bad and hard.
So while im not totally against a DA MMO, Id probably rather see Mass Effect done as a MMO first and done properly with ALL the back story and individual quests required to do it right and correctly.
MMOs, though combat driven, are actually not combat first settings. Look at the shear amount of staggering story and information going into TOR right now.

WoW can be good for RPing if you're on a RP server and go to the right places. I can vouch for that, at least. Also, the lore is a fairly good storyline in my opinion.

I like some of the WoW lore--the more I read about Darion Mograine the more I'm convinced he's the coolest dude in the lore. But I personally prefer my lore a bit more genre-savvy and a bit less headbashingly naive on the part of the heroes. If I had a dollar for every time some hero did a Heel Face Turn due to a) demonic corruption or
Seriously, the folks in Azeroth need to invest in methods of DESTROYING the ultimate MacGuffins of Ultimate Evil rather than sealing them away. Or at least have the decency to sink them to the bottom of the ocean in a lead-lined casket the size of freaking Fort Knox. Having heroes seal away epic evil does not work. EVER. Heroes are dicks and get corrupted through desire for epic loots. Though Blizzard likes this trope. Diablo much?

I would die if they made DA into an MMO. Spontaniously combust. Die of an imploded head. Play Russian Roulette with a loaded six-shot. The last thing I want to see is some Morrigan-clone named M0rig4n screaming "WTS STAFF OF MAGISTER LORD 4 155G PST ME" in the Denerim trade-chat, 0ghr3N spamming burp emotes in my toon's face, or have L3leEana255 sending me tells and asking if I want to cyber while I'm trying to get my crafting done in peace. I'll stick with single-player.
This. Gets even worse if you have any sort of pvp in it. Ahhh, the angst.

Ok...I was just kidding. Maybe not an MMO then but perhaps something in between Neverwinter Nights (NWN)and WoW. That is something in between just having community made multiplayer worlds and just having one big company run world. That is something like NWN but where more thought is put into multiplayer...and perhaps even some official servers that are run by the company.
The reason we ask for this is because we think it is unfair that Bioware which is the best cumputer game company have been focusing ALL their energy on making single player games ever since NWN and all of us who are interested in multiplayer have been biting the dust ever since.
I don't want to play what MMO's are and stand for. Also SW:ToR seems to fall in the same cathegory. Terribly mainstream and simplified games for the masses.
It really sucks that people are beating down on the very thought of anything multiplayer even though it probably wouldn't affect them at all...and also considering that Bioware has not released a multiplayer game for a VERY long time.

Several of you mention you have played WoW and you all seem able to form complete sentences just fine.
You'd be playing with the same type of people you see on these forums, which are much more mature than the WoW forums if I might add. Is that still so bad?

These forums are already on a very low maturity level. They are pretty much exactly those people I don't want to see in my game... I don't care if other MMO-crowds are worse.
And I wouldn't care about a DA:MMO if it wouldn't automatically kill any other game based in the DA-lore. They use all their resources to create new content for the MMO to keep it fresh and milk the cash cow (see WarCraft... there is nothing left besides that MMO). So getting a MMO means loosing a singleplayer IP. We lost KOTOR to it, that's bad enough.

Nothing can prepare you for the mmo rape of one of your beloved IP's. It was the same for me when playing LOTRO. I'd read the books as a kid and was looking forward to walking in Middle-Earth, but seeing constant stuff like 'omg stop ninjaing my nodes u $%%*ing n00b' in the Misty Mountains just didn't have the desired effect on me.
I like mmo's, but I don't have any illusions about them.
